Chapter 3

Nate's P.O.V

I stayed sat next to her all night, how did I manage that? My throat was on fire at one point I had to literally grip my claws into the chair I sat on, especially when she was blowing her cherry like air from her luscious lips that I crave so much. I was torn between drinking her dry or devouring her sweet scent from her folds. I left before she woke up because I'm not stable around her, her voice gets my heart racing so fast I feel like I'm going to pass out, seeing her naked yesterday didn't help it filled me with lust now knowing how her curves were in all the right places, her voluptuous breasts are the perfect size for my large hands, I tried not to look but I couldn't help that it engraved itself within my brain. 

I go to my room and start to pray to the moon goddess again “Nathaniel, I remember when you were a baby now look at you a grown man waiting for his mate” she says, I turn towards her “Celeste, you came you heard my prayers” I say, she nods her head but has a scornful look on her face “why do you not want Effie as your mate?” she asks curiously, “I do want her, trust me I really do, I'm scared I crave her, the smell of her blood it burns my throat, what if I can't control my thirst?” I ask, she smiles and walks towards me “Oh my poor boy, your Lycan craves her too, you can feel it can't you the connection with her? he can't hurt her without killing himself and because you are immortal so will she be” she says, I look at her wide eyed did I hear her right? “what wait? Your saying if I mate with Effie she will become immortal too?” I ask to clarify her words “yes Nathaniel, now start living your life, Enjoy taking Effie, she will help keep you on the right path” she says. I nod my head, I can't speak she's granted me with this amazing, precious gift. I hug her tightly “thank you Celeste” I say, trying to hold back my happy tears. She strokes my head uttering the words “Your welcome my child” before disappearing.

I sprint from my room down into the living room, my mom's sat there with my gramps “where are you off to in such a rush natty?” she asks “mom, it's the moon goddess, she well she's given me a mate and my mate will become immortal like me” I say rambling all the words out so quick my mom's stood there looking like I gave her whip lash “wait hang on you mean Effie will become immortal?” says my gramps “hold on wait how did you know it was Effie?” mom asks surprised “the boy talks to his gramps” he announces smiling proudly “I knew too Nate I could see it in your aura I think everyone does, except Effie” she says smiling lightly. I just roll my eyes and run towards the exit of the pack house.

I get to the pack doctors as Ellie comes walking out, “If your looking for Effie she's not here now Nate I let her go home” she said making me do a full circle “okay thanks” I say heading back in the direction I came from. There house is not far from ours, they used to live with us until they had Effie they wanted there own space and privacy. As I reach the house Ariana appears in front of me “going somewhere brother?” she asks with a smirk on her lips “yeah I am actually” I say glaring at her “she loves you Nate” she says making me loose track of thought, “what? Can she feel the mate bond?” I ask, “she's starting to but she loved you long before that” I can't believe it all these years I avoided her because I wanted her and she loved me all along.

I look down and Ariana caught it “you wasn't to know Nate I know you did it for her safety, that's why I'm here now! Will she be safe with you?” she asks with a serious tone to her voice, I nod my head “that's why I'm here Ari, Celeste she came to me she said Effie will become immortal if I mate with her” me and Ariana are really close and I tell her everything, so she knows how I have always felt about Effie “Wait that's so cool, so she will be with us forever?” excitement exuding her, I smile “If she chooses to be yeah” I say, before I realise Ariana grabs my arm and I am stood in front of Effie, she looks at me confused her beautiful deep blue eyes are so vibrant “Don't worry I'm not stopping” says Ariana before teleporting out, I look at Effie and she doesn't blink staring into my eyes, “Can I sit down?” I ask, she still looks in shock but nods her head. An awkward silence follows as always I don't know how to talk to her, she's sat up on her bed resting both her legs, the casts no longer on which means her wolf has healed her.

I can feel the electricity buzzing between us and for the first time I am enjoying it, knowing I can no longer hurt her. “What? Why? I mean your here?” she mumbles and stutters her words out, “I needed to talk to you about us” I say playing with my fingers nervously ”Us?” she asks curiously, “Yeah Celeste, she came and we talked” I begin but Effie looks like she's about to cry “you asked her for a different mate didn't you?” she spat, with anger now in her eyes, “No, I mean yes I did in the beginning but only because I didn't want to hurt you, you see she explained to me that you wont be hurt by me” I try rushing my words out to tell her to stop her from being upset with me, she stands up “Nathaniel, it's my decision too I should get a choice in whether I accept or reject you” unfortunately with the level of frustration in her voice I have already failed, I try to reach for her hand but she slaps my hand away out of anger and frustration.

“Effie I want you” I say but she doesn't want to listen to me now, she is angrily pacing her bedroom, even when she's cross her face is beautiful. I try to get attention again “she said you will become immortal like me” I say, she stops pacing “I'll become what?” she asks confusion replacing the anger “If you accept me you will become immortal, I will no longer be able to hurt you” I explain, she stands frozen for a moment and I'm positive she's going to reject me right there and then, I've never felt this nervous and anxious in all my life, I know I'm immortal but I'm still sure my heart can be broken into pieces. She moves slowly to look out the window in her room, “Are you okay?” I ask, she nods her head but doesn't speak, I release a deep sigh this isn't at all how I expected this to go. I don't want to leave her but I can see she needs time to digest my words, “I'll go and give you some time and space to make a decision, either way I understand” I admit feeling defeated, she doesn't move or say a word she's just stood looking out of the window, with an unreadable expression on her face, which doesn't leave me with a great feeling.

I decide to walk to the clearing instead of going home I'm not sure if I can cope with Ariana quizzing me about how it went with Effie. I sit under the tree listening to the birds chirping and close my eyes trying to relax and calm myself. “You know this used to be my favourite thinking spot when I was younger” my mom said stroking my hair before sitting down next to me, I rest my head on her shoulder “so either things didn't go well with Effie or your contemplating on telling her or not?” she interjects, “I told her mom but I don't know how it went, she just froze and didn't say anything, even when I left. I've avoided her for years in fear of hurting her but what if she rejects me now because of it” I say, “oh I see, my sweet boy you are the god of harmony how could you think you would hurt your fated mate, your Lycan wouldn't allow it, why do you shut us all out when were here for you” she asks concerned, “I do talk to you guys I just feel awkward, I don't know where this life will take me and it's well overwhelming sometimes” I say, she pulls me into a hug and rubs my back as she did when I was a child “give Effie some time, I'm sure it's just a lot to take in all at once” she says. “The journey you will take throughout your lifetime will be easier with her by your side yes but don't ever worry, you managed to kill a hell of a lot of vicious vampires before you even opened your eyes” she says, I lift my head looking at her confused “I did what?” I ask “How is that even possible and how come I can't do it now?” I ask “It was a reflex according to Celeste, they were evil vampires that tried hurting the people you were born to protect” I couldn't believe she had never mentioned this to me “I wonder if my powers will just kick in at the right time” I say relaxing back onto my mom's shoulder.
