Kara's P.O.V.
I screamed out in pain, begging the three men who were beating and assaulting me to stop. I heard a loud bang as the cell door flew off the hinges, then I saw them. Shadows moving fast like lightening. Once my vision focused, I saw him. I saw him, Zak, my sister's mate. They tried to move me and I screamed out in pain. As the scream finished leaving my mouth, my vision began to blur. Before darkness met me, I caught a glimpse of her, of my sister Ana.
The pain that wracked my body was insane. I tried to open my eyes, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't. I heard my sister's voice,"Kara, you promised, you promised you wouldn't leave me with these monsters, please."
I tried to reply, but nothing came out. I tried to move, but nothing moved. The only thing there was, was darkness. I could hear everything around me. My wolf was dying until she heard her sister. The bond between our wolves was magical. They did everything together, protected each other. "You have to fight, you have to stay alive for your sister. Did you hear? Ana said she is having a pup. We have to be there for her, Please Dasiey." I begged my wolf. "I am trying Kara, but we are weak. The amount of wolfsbane coursing through us is just too much. We need a doctor, and soon. We need to go into a hibernated state to save what life we have left," she weakly replied.
I felt like I was being lifted by clouds. When my body made it outside under the sky and I felt the breeze, I completely let go and allowed myself to fall into hibernation. I was in a deep sleep, but I could still hear and smell, but I couldn't move or open my eyes. I felt it when they laid me down on a bed. I heard the beeping of the heart monitor. "'Beep'... 'Beep'... 'Beep'... 'Beeeep'... 'Beeeep'... 'Beep'... 'Beep'..."
"Miss Kara, stay with us. Your sister is in the car behind us. It's a four-hour ride. I will do what I can, but I need you to help," an unknown lady said in my ear. "Dasiey, did you hear that? I think this is a doctor," and as to confirm my statement, I felt the sharp prick of a needle in my arm, then the free flow of saline flowing into my veins. When I felt the pain meds flow into my arm, I felt a peaceful veil lay over me while I drifted further back into my mind.
The trip to safety was rough. I could feel my body rolling and bouncing around. Many times I could feel and hear people holding me down telling me, "Miss Kara, we ar holding you still to avoid more injuries. Please, don't fear when you feel our hands." I could hear when my heart rate became unstable, and when it would even back out. "'Beep'... 'Beep'... 'Beeeep'... 'Beeeep'... 'Beep'... 'Beep" "'Beep'... 'Beep'... 'Beep'... 'Beep'..." They were flushing my veins. "Miss Kara, we are almost there. We will need to lift you up and carry you to a new bed in the pack hospital. Just keep fighting, please, our Luna couldn't take it if you died," the unknown voice said.
I felt the feeling of being lifted by clouds, I felt the fresh air flow over me. I heard the clink of the doors opening, the loud chattering of pack members walking the halls of the pack hospital slowly fading away as we made our way to the OR. I could smell the antiseptics and sterilization. I laid on the operating table for what seemed like forever while they cleaned and stitched up all 167 slashes, while they covered 17 burns with cream and gauze. I could feel it when they rolled my bed to my room. I again tried to open my eyes but just like before, nothing, I just couldn't.
I heard Ana talk here and there. When she told me she was having a boy, I was super happy. I wanted to hug her and congratulate her but still nothing moved. I tried again and again to open my eyes, to say something, to move, just something. I kept trying to communicate with the outside world, but nothing would happen. They had a physical therapist come in and work on my arms and legs, to keep them from becoming stiff. I heard the nurse say that the normal therapist was out sick, so the alpha ordered the beta to step in and do the therapy today.
When the Beta showed up to do my therapy today, I felt my wolf stir for the first time in what seemed like forever. I inhaled as deep as I could and the scent that filled my nostrils felt like heaven. The scent of steak, garlic, and sandal wood, that could only belong to one person. That one person is my mate, the one person made for me. I tried harder and harder to open my eyes or to talk or to move, I struggled as hard as I could. When he touched my face, it was like a string snapped into place. My eyes snapped open as I felt the sparks and tingles of the mate bond.
When our eyes locked on to each other, I croaked out the only word I could: "Mate." That was all it took for him to smash his lips down on mine and I felt it, my wolf howled in my mind. She was howling a matching howl as her mate's wolf. When he pulled away, it felt as though I had been thrown into a bat of ice. As though he was feeling what I was feeling, he climbed on my bed and wrapped his arms around me. It felt as though time stood still, "Mate, I had no idea you were there. I couldn't smell your scent with all that wolfsbane in your system. Please forgive me love, I am truly sorry." He pleaded with me as though any of this was his fault.
"None of this is your fault. Nobody could have known this was going to happen," I said softly.
"I've called the doctor to come check on you. Only then will we notify the Alpha and Luna," he replied. Just moments later, the doctor came rushing in, checking all the leads and wires, then started conducting a mind test, testing my wolf as well.
"Beta Trever, she seems to be doing better. May I ask why you are holding her so close to you?" dr. Bift asked. "She is my mate, why should I not hold her?" he responded a little harshly. The doctor quickly picked up on his voice and said: " Beta, that's not what I meant. I was just asking, but that is wonderful. Having your mate close will help with the healing as well."
"The Luna has been deeply worried about you. I just have to check on your breathing and to look at your stitches and burn patches, then I can call the Alpha and Luna," the doctor said while looking over my body. "And everything looks good Beat, Miss Kara," he finished. "Are you sure doc, I don't want anything to happen to her. Not when I just found her." Trever asked before the doctor could turn and leave. "Yes, Beta, Miss Kara seems to be bouncing back just fine. We will keep her for a few more days for observation, and you are welcome to stay. We can bring her a bigger bed and more blankets if you want." dr. Bift stated. If there is nothing else, I will Notify The Alpha.
"Who is your luna, mate?" I asked, thinking I knew I wasn't really hearing Ana. But then that idea crumbled the moment he said, "Our luna is Miss Ana, your sister, mate." Just as he finished speaking, the door to the room bust open. I could feel it, my wolf could feel it, our sister. The bond was there. I whipped my head in the direction of the pull and there in the doorway was my sister, all five feet and two inches of her, but she's now glowing and has a huge bump, showing it obvious that she was indeed with pup.
"Kara!" Ana sweetly and worriedly called her name.
