Eve held Lucifers arm while they were flying with special requested sleigh dragged by Pegasus. Her nerves were killing her and she couldn’t stand seeing Lucifer calm as never.
“Just don’t forget to let me speak and only answer how we practiced.” Lucifer said. He was watching clouds changing each other as they flied across the sky. It was bittersweet journey to the place they both used to call home.
“I hope you prepared really good arguments.” She said more to herself than him. Lucifer stroke his hair.
“Couldn’t be otherwise, sugar.”
He leaned back and put his feet on the bench in front of them. Soon enough angel announced that they just reached the golden gates of Eden. Tall young man was waiting to welcome them. He had long curvy hair and flawless face.
“Welcome to the promised land.” He announced as the sleigh stopped and Lucifer helped Eve get on her feet.
“Hello, brother, it’s been forever.” Eve said. Jesus smiled and shook her and Lucifer’s hand as they were old business partners.
“It’s been quite lonely here without you, Luci.” He spoke. Lucifer seemed to outrage any minute.
“Do not call me that.”
“People speak that you got yourself whole castle down there.”
“Sadly, you only get crown made of thorns and father’s betrayal instead of palace.” Lucifer proudly watched Jesus face turning red. He raised hand and four angels put chains around their arms.
“What is that?” Eve yelled. “Narcariel, Rehael, don’t you even dare.” She commanded as they tried to chain her.
“Why’d stop, fools, she isn’t princess here anymore.” Angels continued what they started but didn’t dare to meet Eve’s eyes again.
“Now we can proceed to the trial and finally get those sinners out of here as fast as possible.” Jesus said.
“You have changed!” Eve spoke with bittersweet tone, “I am your sister.”
“You have changed too, sinner.” He replied even not looking at her. “Let’s go.”
Angels lead them through Eden’s capital – astonishing city made out of marble and gold. It was so opposite to the law against greediness and pride by Eve’s eyes. And angels were surely familiar with luxury and abundance.
Trial palace were outstanding tall building with columns and five meters tall doors. It was so spacious that every step you take would cause loud echo.
“Calm down, please.” Lucifer dramatically said. “Because I want to win of course and your shaky hands won’t help.” He quickly added an excuse.
Eve couldn’t even tell how fast she ended up in the big main hall on a chair in front of dozens of angels whispering and peaking at her. Lucifer took seat in first line with his head held high but eyes giving away fear and coming bad memories of this hall.
Quickly Eve found out that Seraphim, the head of archangels is going to be judge alongside with the rest of the holy desk.
She recognized all of them: Raphael, her first crush, Michael, warrior who would always watch her back, Gabriel who was more like a brother to her, Jophiel, one who taught her languages, mathematics and secrets of life, Uriel, best looking of all the seven, a little bit of narcist and one who would try to flirt with every girl on the clouds, Zadkiel, one who would always keep her secrets and listened to her and the strongest one, Camuel. All gathered around here to blame and judge her. All who used to be her guardians and best friends since the day she was born.
Soon enough she saw another familiar face. Phanuel and God showed up, taking special seats above everyone. Father looked at Eve with disgrace and disgust. Phanuel reminded of hungry lion ready to attack once cage is opened and rip her into pieces.
She saw Lucifer’s hands grab chair side so hard it broke from the strength the King of hell had. And anger. God looked down on him from above. He was surprised to see him showing up here first time after ages but he didn’t give away that he was pretty shocked.
“I announce the process of Eve the first woman, the daughter of Lord, Adam’s wife, symbol of life, the human soul case investigation begun.” Spoke Seraphim, white long hair owner with clear tanned skin. He looked around the hall.
“I suppose miss Eve doesn’t have an attorney today.”
“I will be lady’s lawyer for today, your majesty.” Lucifer stepped in with cheerful smile on his face. Shocked mumbling went through the crowd. Phanuel jumped from his seat.
“It is against all rules! Sentenced one cannot represent another sinner!”
But God made him sit down. He was interested himself how it’s going to go. Judge sighed and said:
“Very well, miss Eve’s attorney is mister Lucifer, lord of hell, the fallen angel of the seven.” He spoke fast and got the court started.
Archangels all like one turned away from Lucifer. It seemed that the wound of lost brother still hurt. At least Eve wanted to think this way. It happened when she was little girl, but she remembered Lucifer being the God’s favorite and having the brightest wings. But probably the best one’s fail the hardest.
Eve sat all intense listening to all the blaming coming from her once closest people in world on her for murder and for disobeying God’s orders. She couldn’t bear all the eyes locked on her. She wanted to vanish more than any moment in her life.
Lucifer finally stood up to talk for himself. Angels seemed to be terrified by him as if he could even do anything while God is in the same building. Speaking of who, he even didn’t try to hide that he hated Lucifer and seeing him here was nothing but agony.
“Dear Angels, we all get that brothers’ archangels arguments are undeniable and truthful. All the evidence is against her” He spoke. Silent entered the room.
“And? No “but”?” Eve whispered to him all mad. Lucifer smiled to the crowd.
“That would be all my majesty. I fully agree that my client is guilty undoubtably.”
“What? That’s how you saving me? Lucifer! Take it back!” Eve aroused. She tried to get off the chair but some spells where keeping her down.
Lucifer smiled as crowed mumbled again all confused.
“If no other holy member of Eden community has no more chargers to add, I shall move to the consideration of the penalty.” Judge spoke. God straightened in his seat.” I request the holly scale.”
Big ancient scale was brought in. Two angels grabbed Eve and dragged her to the scales. One held her hand above the plate and other got her fingers open. Eve groaned from pain as the blade went deep in her palm. Everybody held their breath as Eve’s blood dropped on the golden plate. Even Lucifer leaned forward to see better if it’s going to out-weight the feather.
Eve held her breath watching scales turning to equal with every drop of blood falling in the plate. Crowd of angels seemed forgot to breath as well. One more dropped equalized the scales. Perfect feather looked so clean and pure in comparison to a puddle of dark red blood on the other side.
One last drop had fallen down like an angel from the paradise. Weight of it had out-numbered the feather and plate with Eve’s blood slowly went down putting feather up. Somebody from the angels yelled out of the crowed:
“She is a sinner!”
The same time judge’s golden hammer went down alongside announcement of the guiltiness of Eve.
Eve felt like she’s losing her consciousness. By her surprise, Lucifer was there to hold her and prevent from falling.
“Straighten up, do not show them you are scared.” Lucifer whispered to her ear. “They’d love to see you weak.”
Raphael stood up and left like he couldn’t watch anymore. Phanuel has not waited long to ask:
“What is the penalty, my dearest judge?”
“I sentence you, if you really regret your sins, to serve in heaven for your mates angels until you truly regret. Then your sins will be washed by holy water.”
Eve lost ability to speak. She killed the first man and that’s her punishment? Well, she wasn’t a fan of servant of Eden occupation but it could have been worse. This is only humiliating.
Her thoughts got interrupted by Lucifers laugh.
“That’s it? I knew you all are soft as bunnies but not like that.”
“Shut up.” Eve whispered. “What the hell you are doing.”
But he kept going on.
“She kills her husband in first place, disobeys Bible laws and doesn’t even regret. You just going to let her off with tiny bit off sequences. What a gathering of fools.”
Phanuel got up and yelled back:
“I require tougher sentence!” Crowed agreed cheering up. Eve realized that it was mistake going here at the first place. And what a fool she was for trusting Lucifer.
“Requirement accepted.” Announced judge. Eve desperately reached the judge till.
“Please, no, I take first offer. I agree, I am guilty and I regret.”
Lucifer took her away. Eve teared up shouting at Lucifer.
“Let’s hear what this p***y judge can offer now.” Lucifer said in fake caring manner. Seraphim frowned. He cleared his throat and loudly announced:
“Miss Eve, I punish you for eternity service for angels cast and I put you down to the lowest step of hierarchy of Eden – cupids.”
“What? No, I don’t want to be a servant forever!” Eve got out of Lucifers arms. “I… I object!”
Lucifer turned to crowd.
“I think this is too light punishment still, right angels?” Lucifer’s words were welcomed with cheering applause and verbal agreement. It seemed like a crowd of thirsty for blood Romans gathered to watch gladiators’ fight.
“What is wrong with you? Why you keep making it worse!” Eve thought she’s going out of her mind. Lucifer watched Phanuel getting madder with every second passed by. Lucifer proudly looked at irritated angels and prompted for Eve:
“Just keep making them mad, dear.”
She looked as confused and holy desk and judge himself. Crowd demanded rougher penalty. So, it got declared. God seemed not happy about what is happening.
Lucifer walked around the hall cheering crowd and making Phanuel come to the edge of holding himself together. Eve still didn’t get what’s going on. But she decided to go for it.
“Pff, making me lower than the cupids? And that’s all?” Lucifer smiled satisfied. Holy desk was whispering together trying to come up with the sentence that would be harsh enough to shut up everybody, but not the worst, because it was Eve after all. Their half – sister.
“I demand you take away her mortality and let her rotten as every mortal human on earth.” Phanuel yelled. God shook his head in disagreement. However, offer went loud and Lucifer fought it as too soft again.
“Just make them mad.” Lucifer told Eve. She finally encouraged herself to face God.
“Father, I killed Adam. I pointed gun at him. I heard him begging forgiveness and mercy. I heard him saying he loves me. But I still chose to take his life away. I played God, father. And I will play it again if you don’t stop me.”
God stood up and walked to the edge of balcony where his seat was placed. He looked straight to Eve’s eyes. She saw that her words had touched him.
“Come on, dad. You forced your daughter to live forever with man you created by your own image. You know how horrible was that? He was a jerk. No wonder why.” Eve spilled out. “Because he is copy of you. You are sick, you wanted me to date younger version of yourself!”
“Enough!” God voice made every single alive creature in Eden to shut up. “Go to hell, Eve!”
Eve stopped. She didn’t realize what happened. Lucifer face was nothing but triumph. Eve felt how white cotton alike floor below her feet begins to dissolve and she gets lower and lower in the hole of the cloud.
“Thank you for decisions, see you later gentlemen, it was my pleasure.” Last sight Eve saw before falling was how God put his head down all defeated and the smile on Phanuel’s face.
She screams when she felt the same free fall as the time when Phanuel dropped her.
Lucifers waved for the crowd and jumped to the air going down the hole to catch Eve. His plan had worked-out and he fooled all the brightest mind of the Eden. Now Eve just got punished to be in the castle where she ended up anyway.
Suddenly Lucifer froze in the air. He couldn’t fly lower. He turned around and saw golden chain on his leg. The one angel put when they arrived. It took him a second to come to the realization.
“Eve! No!” He shouted. He quickly went up through the cloudy hole up to the trial hall and tried to go down as fast as possible trying to break the chain. And again. And again. It did not work. He got up again.
“You! Take it off, please, don’t do it to her! I understood when you made me fall from Eden but that is your f*****g daughter we are talking about! You are going to kill her! Or worse!” Lucifer flied a lap around the room. “Let me save her! I beg you!”
But God turned around and walked out the door with his head held high and no turning back. Lucifer kept trying to break the chain while Eve was falling down. She was waiting for Lucifer to come after her same as he did before. She could almost feel him catching her with his arms around her and safely landing her on the ground. But land came closer and closer and Lucifer hasn’t showed up. Eve started panicking.
Finally, Lucifers chain disappeared and he rushed down. He flew fastest he ever had flown in his entire life. It was matter of seconds. He saw Eve in the air and aimed to her. He reached for her hand, when somebody heavy hit him off but he managed to grab her hand. He pulled her into him in a milli-second Lucifer got under Eve as he dragged Eve up. Wave of dusts and flames blew burst away like after explosion of the bomb as two bodies body hit the ground. Explosion threw Phanuel away.
Burst of flames and sound of explosion blew out every single window of the castle, trees around went leafless and grass burnt to the ashes. Ground cracked all around and the gaps filled with hot lava in a moment. After smokes faded away Theodor rushed out of the castle. He found Lucifer on the ground with Eve on him, protected by a shield formed out of his wings.
“Lucifer, Eve!” He rushed to them. “Are you all right?”
Lucifer coughed and slowly said “Angel can’t fall from Eden twice.
“What about her.” Theodor gasped. Lucifer just shrunk his shoulders. He did not know.
Theodor picked up Eve on his arms letting Lucifer breath, he moved Eve’s hair away from face and called her name. But Eve did not answer.
