Chapter 5

Abby was almost stopping her breathing because Finn's face was so close to hers. Just a few inches more and their faces would touch. In fact, Finn's breath was already hitting her cheek. Fortunately, his breath smelled good. But if they continued in that position, she might suddenly faint where she stood. "I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are talking about, Mr. La Corja." Abby wanted to applaud herself because her voice was steady and she didn't even falter slightly. If another woman were in her position now, she would surely be stammering while speaking. Finn La Corja was intimidating yet very charming and charismatic. No wonder women still like him despite his ruthless reputation. "You still don't want to admit it? Or do you want me to help you remember that night?" Finn's face lowered to Abby's exposed collarbone and he lightly brushed his lips against her skin. "Please behave yourself, Mr. La Corja. We're not the only people in this building," Abby sternly warned while her fists were tightly clenched. She was close to admitting she remembered him that night just to be released. Finn suddenly teased Abby upon hearing what she said. "So you mean, you'll let me kiss you if it's just the two of us in the building?" Finn glanced around then seductively brought his mouth closer to Abby's ear. "It's just the two of us here inside the elevator. No one will see us." Abby's face suddenly turned red upon hearing what Finn whispered to her. She gathered her strength and pushed her new boss away from her. "It's not what I mean, Mr. La Corja. I don't know why you're doing this to me. But if any of your company's employees see us, your reputation will surely be ruined." But my reputation will be more damaged because they will think I'm seducing you again, Abby wanted to add that but kept it to herself. "Tell me, Ms. Evangelista. Why did you leave without saying goodbye to me after that night? You also didn't fulfill the contract marriage we signed. After I helped and saved you, you just left me like that." Finn's expression suddenly returned to serious. The teasing look in his eyes also disappeared. In Abby's eyes, he became a dangerous person. "I'm not that woman, Mr. La Corja. I'm afraid you're mistaking me for someone else," Abby firmly denied. She shouldn't admit it. If he finds out that she is indeed that woman and then suddenly learns that she has children, he will surely think he is the father of her twins. Finn's eyebrows suddenly furrowed at Abby's firm denial. "Do you want me to show you the contract we signed? You know how to read, so you'll definitely see whose name is written there." Holy cow! Abby forgot that she actually wrote her name on the contract marriage she signed, so Finn knows not only her name but her full name. She can't escape from him. Abby was about to speak to make another excuse when the elevator suddenly opened as they reached the first floor. Without a word, she exited the elevator. She almost ran out of the building just to get away from Finn La Corja. One day, I will make you admit that you were the woman I slept with that night, Finn firmly promised himself while watching the woman walk away. In her haste to get away from him, she almost slipped several times while walking. Finn's secretary, Ralph, approached and spoke to his boss. "Do you want me to have your bodyguards chase after Miss Evangelista and bring her back in front of you, boss?" Finn quickly shook his head at his secretary. "No need to do that. She works in my company. I'm sure we'll still meet one of these days." Ralph just nodded at his boss and slightly adjusted his glasses before walking out of the hotel to prepare his boss's car. Having served as Finn's secretary for a long time, he knew his boss's mood very well. Ralph took his boss's fancy car, guarded by many bodyguards, and brought it to the front of the hotel. When Finn got out, his secretary immediately opened the car door for him. "Where are you going home, boss? To the mansion? Penthouse? Condo? Or to the villa?" Ralph asked when he got back inside the car. His boss has many places to go home, so he always needs to ask where he's heading. "Villa," Finn replied briefly before leaning his back against the soft seat and closing his eyes. He tried to erase from his mind the beautiful and attractive face of Abby. But no matter what he did, it seemed like her face was teasingly stuck in his mind. And when he thought about her reaction upon seeing him earlier, he couldn't help but feel annoyed. It was as if she had seen a ghost. He was sure she recognized him too, which made him feel like a virus she wanted to avoid. "Am I an unlikable person, Ralph? Am I that scary?" "What, boss?" Ralp asked with a furrowed brow to his boss. He couldn't understand what his boss meant. "Nothing. Just keep on driving," Finn replied. Then he shook his head and closed his eyes again. Meanwhile, when Abby arrived at Mavi's house, she immediately drank cold water. She felt extremely thirsty and her lips were dry. Until now, she still couldn't believe that the new CEO of the company she worked for was none other than the father of her twins. "What happened to you, Abby? Why do you look a bit pale? Did you see a ghost outside?" Mavi asked her best friend in quick succession, frowning and full of curiosity. Abby pulled her friend to sit on the sofa. "Are my twins asleep?" She wants to make sure that her twins are asleep so they won't hear what she is going to tell Mavi. "Yes. I put them to bed early because they have school tomorrow. Why? What happened to you?" "You won't believe what I'm going to say, Mavi. Did you know that the new CEO of La Corja Empire is Finn La Corja?" Abby said directly to her friend. "So? As far as I know, that Finn La Corja is a ruthless boss. Every time he returns to the country, several employees from their company lose their jobs even though he's not yet the CEO but his father." "No. You don't understand, Mavi. Finn La Corja is Ashley and Ashtine's father!" "What?" exclaimed Mavi upon hearing what Abby said. She suddenly stood up in great surprise. "Oh my God! What a small world indeed!" "Yeah. What a small world for us. And I don't know what to do now. He recognized me. And he's insisting that I admit I'm the woman he slept with that night and signed a contract marriage with him." Abby suddenly became troubled. She didn't expect that after six years, her paths would cross again with the man who saved her from the hands of Mr. Suarez. "What are you going to do now? Are you going to resign from your job so you won't see Finn La Corja anymore?" Mavi asked, also suddenly troubled. Her friend's problem was also her problem. Abby shook her head. "I don't know. You know how difficult it is to get into the La Corja Empire. I'm lucky because I'm one of the two newly hired junior designers of the company. But what if Mr. La Corja doesn't leave me alone?" Abby didn't know what to choose. Should she stay in Finn's company or resign just to avoid him? If she stays in the company, she doesn't know how long she can keep lying to Finn that she's not the woman he's thinking of. How long can she hide the existence of her twin from their father?
