Emma's POV. My eyes fluttered open. It took them a few seconds to focus, and adapt to the bright light. My head was foggy, my body ached, and my insides felt like they had been taken out, put through a blender, and then poured back in. My throat was dry, and every breath I took felt like sandpaper against my lungs. The last thing I remembered was Manfrid's face with those empty, black eyes, and his sneer. I also remembered the excruciating pain, caused by his poisenous blade, vividly. Those memories plagued my subconscious over the last couple of days. Haunting me. Tormenting me.
