LEXI'S P.O.V
I felt Blake's eyes on me the moment I stepped into the parking lot with Laurey and Dylan, but I didn't have the courage to look back. After the incident in the cafeteria, I felt like he wouldn't want to be friends with me again.
I don't blame him at all for what happened. It's not his fault anyway; he didn't know. But I blame myself for crying in front of them like that. I should have just held back my tears and cried at home.
Now, he would think am worthless and wouldn't want to be friends with me anymore. I don't know why I care so much about his opinion, but I want to matter to him; I want to mean something to him.
I sighed, knowing that that's impossible now.
"Why are you sighing Lexi? Are you okay?" I heard Laurey's voice. I turned to her and saw her looking at me with a concerned look on her face.
"Yeah, yeah... I'm fine." I quickly added with a smile.
"Are you sure?" she asked again, unconvinced.
"I'm sure, seriously."
"Are you thinking that Blake wouldn't like you because he saw you crying?" It was Dylan who asked this time.
I looked at him in shock, mouth agape. "H-How did you know?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "Guy instincts."
I sighed, rubbing my palms together. "I just feel like he wouldn't want to be friends anymore after the stunt I pulled today."
Laurey shook her head, looking at me with a bored look. I got a little self- conscious under her gaze.
"What?" I asked her.
She glared at me and sighed. "And here I was killing myself not knowing that this was what is bothering you."
"'This?' how can you refer this situation to 'this'. My first crush is on the line." I half- shouted at her.
Dylan rolled his eyes. "No need to worry, Lexi. Blake is not that kind of guy. He wouldn't treat you like that."
I sighed, still feeling worried. "How can you be so sure, Dylan?"
Dylan smiled, putting his hand on my shoulders. "Trust me, Blake will never treat you that way. Although he doesn't talk much, I saw it in his eyes Lexi. He really cares about you."
I smiled, feeling a tiny ray of hope blossoming. "You really think so?"
"I don't think so... I know so." He added with a smirk.
"C'mon, there's no need to be worrying. Blake is a good guy. If he ever tries to break your heart, I'll break his bones." Laurey said, beating her chest in a King- Kong manner.
I burst out laughing because she looked funny and soon Dylan joined me.
I smiled, feeling relieved and happy. So this is what it feels like to have friends who care about you and lift you up. I feel so happy.
Laurey smiled at me. "So no more tears, okay? If you're sad, it'll make me sad too."
"Yeah.... Seeing you crying is heartbreaking." Dylan added, ruffling my hair.
I laughed. "Okay... I'll try my best."
Laurey scoffed. "'Try your best?' You will stop crying." She added in a firm tone.
"Yes ma'am." I teased with a fake salute.
"Are you mocking me?" she said glaring at me.
"Mocking you? Of course not. Why would I?" I asked her while stifling a laugh.
I looked at Dylan and he was holding back his laugh too.
"Oooh! So both of you are mocking me right?" she threatened, pointing a finger at both of us.
She would have looked terrifying if she was taller, but considering that she's average height; when she was shouting she looked like a cute dark- brown rabbit.
"We're not mocking you Laurey. You're overreacting." Dylan said with a smirk.
I just looked at them arguing with each other and smiled. I looked at where Blake parked his motorcycle and realized it wasn't there anymore. He left already; maybe he thought I was ignoring him.
Oh, well! I'll see him tomorrow and explain everything to him. I smiled at the thought.
Laurey was still arguing and insulting Dylan for mocking her. I just continued watching them and intervened when I felt I've seen enough.
"Okay, okay... that's enough both of you. I'm tired of watching you guys argue." I interrupted with a bored look.
They just looked at each other and stuck their tongues out.
I rolled my eyes at them. "Childish."
"Lexi." Laurey called out. "How will you go home? Are you taking the bus?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know. My brother was supposed to pick me up, but he might be busy with work."
"You have a brother?" she asked curiously.
I nodded my head.
"Is he cute?" she asked with a smirk. Dylan rolled his eyes at her question.
"Don't answer her Lexi. It's a waste of time." Dylan said, putting his arm around my shoulder.
"How dare you?" Laurey asked, feigning annoyance.
Dylan just rolled his eyes and pulled me to walk together to the bus – stop.
"If you're done arguing with me, you'll come along or if not you can stay and sleep in school. Suit yourself." Dylan said and we continued walking, leaving Laurey behind.
I just giggled at their silliness.
I heard Laurey's footsteps from behind us and the next thing I know Dylan was smacked in the head.
"Ow!" he shouted, rubbing the back of his head. "What was that for?"
"That's for insulting me. You should have some respect." Laurey said, raising her chin high.
He wanted to talk but Laurey glared at him and he just kept quiet, pouting and grumbling.
I was just looking at them and giggling the whole time.
Laurey inserted herself in the middle and we walked to the bus stop together while they were still arguing and hitting themselves.
Never a dull moment with those two.
