The bus finally arrived and we took our seats. The ride to our destinations was very entertaining with Dylan and Laurey making silly jokes while I was the spectator always laughing and chirping in very rarely.
I finally arrived at my spot and we all came down from the bus after paying our bus fares.
"Lexi!" I heard Laurey's voice calling me. "We're leaving now."
"Now? I thought your houses were around this neighborhood."
"No... we have to take another bus to reach our house." Dylan explained.
"Ow!" I nodded my head in realization. "I'll see you guys tomorrow?" it was more of a question than a statement.
Laurey smiled, putting her arms around my shoulder. "Of course you will. We 're stuck together now." She answered, nudging my shoulder.
I smiled brightly, nodding my head. Dylan came closer to me and gave me a side hug.
"See you tomorrow, Lexi." He said, ruffling my hair.
I smiled, ruffling his hair too. "Yeah... see you."
Laurey shoved Dylan out of the way, which emanated a curse word from the latter.
She hugged me very tight, I thought I would break. When I felt like I could run out of oxygen anytime soon, I tapped her back begging for her to let go; like a boxer pinned on the ground by his opponent.
She finally let go and smiled brightly. "Bye, Lexi! See you tomorrow."
"Yeah... see you too." I smiled, waving at her as she was being dragged by Dylan.
Dylan turned back and looked at me with a smirk. "Don't think too much about Blake, okay?"
My face turned red. "You.."
He just laughed and Laurey joined him before they started walking away.
I turned around and started heading home, replaying all the scenes that happened today.
I actually thought my first day at school will be boring and I even thought of missing it. I didn't know it will turn out this eventful. I can't believe I made two new friends on my first day, and not only that I found my first crush.
Finding a crush or getting attracted to someone on my first day was not in my vocabulary but fate has other plans, I guess. It was actually going well but I have a way of ruining things.
Sigh...
Why can't I keep my emotions in check? I just cried during lunch with my friends; in front of my crush, nonetheless.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid." I repeated, hitting my hand on my forehead.
I stopped immediately when I felt someone's hand holding mine.
"Don't hit yourself like that. You'll get hurt." I heard the person's voice.
My eyes were as wide as saucers when I recognized the voice. I looked up to confirm my suspicion and there he was, the cause of me hitting my head; Blake.
He was standing in front of me and smiling at me, showcasing his white teeth and cute dimples.
Due to the height difference, I had to look up at him while he was looking down at me.
I was opening my mouth and eyes so wide, it started hurting. How could he be here? Does he live here? So many questions were going through my head right now.
"If you keep on opening your mouth like that, you're gonna catch flies." He said, smirking at me.
I blushed in embarrassment and quickly closed my mouth. I ducked my head because I didn't know what to say.
"Why were you hitting your head?" he asked concern noticeable in his voice.
I looked up and remembered the reason why and blushed again. "Nothing."
"Nothing?" he asked with a smirk. "Then why were you blushing just now?" he asked, taking a step closer to me. Did I also mention that he was still holding my hand?
"N-nothing." I stammered, blushing even deeper.
He chuckled, looking at me. "It's okay. I won't talk about it anymore."
I smiled, feeling relieved.
There was a moment of silence between us before I broke it.
It sounded silly, but I loved hearing him talk.
I love his voice, his deep – baritone voice.
You're so stupid, Lexi.
I cleared my throat."Um... what are you doing here?"
He looked at me and smiled. "My house is on the other street. I just decided to take a stroll to clear my head and I saw your back view, and knew immediately that it was you."
I blinked. "My back view?"
He immediately understood and cleared his throat. "I-I don't mean it like that. I mean the shape of your shoulder and stuff." He replied, scratching his neck.
"Are you sure that's what you meant?" I asked with a smirk, with one eye brow raised.
I have no idea where the confidence came from but he looked flustered and I felt the need to tease him a little. I wouldn't have done this to another guy but with Blake, I feel comfortable.
He laughed awkwardly and I noticed a tint of blush on his cheeks.
I was shocked. I went in front of him and stared at his face. "Did you just blush?"
He cleared his throat, scratching his neck. "I did not."
"I know what I saw." I replied with a smirk before turning around and walking ahead.
I stopped when someone grabbed my hand. I turned around and saw Blake already looking at me.
When he noticed I was looking at my hand that he was holding, he immediately removed it thinking I was uncomfortable, which I was not.
"I was wondering maybe I could drop you off at your house." It was more of a question than a statement.
"Uhm... okay. It's just a few houses ahead, anyway."
He nodded his head and we started walking side by side. Our arms will occasionally brush each other causing me to feel an electric spark; I wonder if he feels it too.
There was a comfortable silence between us and it didn't need words to feel the void. Just complete, comfortable silence.
My thoughts were interrupted when I sighted the entrance of my house.
I stood at the gate and looked at Blake. "We're here." I said with a smile.
"Yeah." He looked around. "Nice house."
"Thanks."
We just stood there, staring at each other.
"I need to go." I said, breaking the silence.
He nodded his head as if waking up from a trance. "Yeah, Yeah."
"I'll see you tomorrow, right?" he asked with a smile.
"Yeah... absolutely." I smiled brightly.
He smiled back and turned around walking away. He hasn't gone far when he stopped and turned around to face me.
"Oh, Lexi!" I looked up at him. "I forgot to mention that you look cute when you blush." He smiled and winked at me.
I blushed deeply covering my face. "Stop!"
He chuckled. "It's so fun to tease you." He walked closer to me and patted my head. "I'll see you around." And with that, he turned around and left.
I looked in the direction he has gone and smiled; rubbing the place he patted my head.
I stayed outside for a few minutes, replaying every second of what had just happened, unable to stop smiling.
