BLAKE'S P.O.V
I don't know what possessed me to tell Lexi she looked cute when she blushed, even though it was true.
I just felt she needed to know how beautiful she is and how her blush or smile affects me.
I was taking a stroll when I caught sight of her from behind.
Gosh... I wasn't expecting her to tease me like that. I can't believe I blushed because of a girl, which has never happened to me in my entire life before.
The way her hand brushed mine when we were walking, made me feel electric sparks. I wonder if she felt it too.
I just can't wait to see her in school tomorrow. Being close to her and talking to her is so soothing and wonderful.
I ruffled my hair smiling. "Gosh... I'm a goner."

LEXI'S P.O.V
I entered inside the house and made my way to the living room where I heard voices.
My mum and dad were sitting on the chair talking and laughing.
Even after having grown – up children, they haven't outgrown their love for each other.
You can clearly see the love and affection they have for each other in their eyes.
Moments like this felt permanent.
Like nothing could ever change.
I hope I find someone in the future who would treat me like that.
My thoughts immediately went to Blake and what transpired at the gate. I couldn't help but blush deeply, smiling.
I heard someone clearing their throat, disturbing my thoughts.
I looked at Mom and Dad and noticed they were already looking at me.
Mom walked over to me and smiled pulling me into a hug. "How was your first day sweetie?"
"It was nice Mom. Better than I expected it to be." I replied smiling.
My mom looked happy and she kissed my forehead. "That's wonderful. Did you make friends?" she asked again, pulling me to sit on the couch between her and Dad.
"Yes I did. Two actually, Laurey and Dylan." I smiled brightly, recalling the events of today.
"That's amazing, kiddo. I'm so proud of you." Dad said, ruffling my hair.
"Thanks, Dad. I've resolved that I want to put the past behind. I want to start a fresh start. I want to be happy again." I smiled, looking at the both of them.
"That's wonderful, Lexi. I want to see you happy and smiling again." My mom replied with tears in her eyes.
Dad smiled, ruffling my hair. "I'm so glad to see you smiling, sweetheart."
I smiled, pulling them in a group hug.
"C'mon go freshen up Lexi. When you come back dinner will be ready." My mom said, disentangling from the hug.
I nodded my head. "Okay mom."
She smiled, kissing my forehead before getting up to prepare dinner. I kissed my Dad on the cheek and dashed upstairs to bathe and freshen up.
Once I was in my room, I quickly headed to the bathroom to clean myself up because I was starving.
I finished bathing and wore and oversized t-shirt that reached above my knees and dashed downstairs for dinner.
By the time I reached, Mom was already placing the dishes on the dining table. She spotted me and smiled.
"Can you help me bring the remaining dishes, dear?" she asked with a smile.
I smiled back. "Sure thing, Mom."
I brought the dishes and placed them on the dining table.
"I'll go inside and call your Dad." My Mom informed me before going upstairs.
I nodded my head and sat down on one of the chairs in the dining pressing my phone.
Mom and Dad came downstairs and sat down also.
"You know the rules, Lexi. No phone in the dining." Mom scolded, folding her arms.
I smiled sheepishly. "Sorry." I quickly dropped the phone.
She moved forward and opened the coolers on the dining table and alas! It was all my favorite foods.
I grinned from ear to ear. "Mom! You didn't tell me you were going to make my favorite foods today."
She laughed. "I didn't but I did. We're having a celebration."
I frowned. "Celebration? Celebration of what?"
"Guess." She said, smiling.
I looked at my Dad for clues but he shook his head smiling.
I covered my mouth in shock as an idea popped in my head. "Oooh! Mom, are you pregnant?" I exclaimed with wide eyes.
She rolled her eyes looking at me. "Seriously Lexi?" she asked with a bored look.
I shrugged. "Don't blame me. You know I'm not good at guesswork."
"We're celebrating you wanting to have a fresh start. We're also celebrating you making friends on your first day and putting the past behind." She smiled brightly.
My cheeks warmed slightly. "Mom, you didn't have to."
"Of course I had too. My baby girl is finally growing and I will do all I can to support her." she smiled pinching my cheeks.
"Dad, did you know about this?" I turned to Dad.
"Of course I did. You're my little princess and it warms my heart to see you smiling and happy again." He added lovingly.
"Dad! Thank you so much. I love you both so much."
"We love you too." They chorused, smiling.
My Mom dished out the food and we all ate to our satisfaction gisting and laughing. It was the best dinner I've had in years. Family is indeed the greatest bond in the world.

The last set of plates clattered in the sink as they were being washed. I dried off the plates with a towel and put them in the cupboards before heading to the living room where my Dad and Mom were.
I saw them watching a movie while they were slouched on the couch.
Dad noticed me and smiled. "Come and join us, honey. This movie is really interesting."
"I would love to, Dad. But I have homework to catch up to; and after that I'm going to bed." I replied smiling.
"Oh! That's alright. We can watch a movie next time. I want good grades this year, sweetie. Goodnight." He said.
"Of course Dad. Good night." I replied running upstairs.
I entered my room and immediately started doing my homework. Just the first day and they're already piling up homework for me.
How wicked can these teachers be?
I sighed, trying to solve a simultaneous equation.
I think Ms. Cathy gave us hard homework because she wants to punish me for being rude.
I finally finished all my homework and lay down on the bed, pressing my phone trying to relax.
I heard a knock on my door and climbed out of bed to open it. My Mom stood at the door holding a tray with two glass cups filled with orange juice.
"Hey, Mom. Come in." I smiled, opening the door widely for her.
She came in and sat down on the bed, I also joined her. She set the drinks on the bedside table.
"I thought of bringing you a drink to help with your homework. But it looks like you're through already." She said, her eyes landing on my school books stacked in a corner.
"Thanks Mom." I grabbed one of the drinks from the tray and sipped it.
"So, how was school today? Did anything interesting happen?" she asked with a knowing smile.
"Nope. Just goofing around with Laurey and Dylan."
"Are you sure that's all?" she asked again, smirking.
I frowned, confused. "Yeah, that's all. What's going on?" I asked, sipping on my drink.
"Oh, nothing. I just saw you blushing when you came in. That couldn't have been because of your friends' right?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows.
I spit out the drink in my mouth, coughing really hard. "Mom!" I shouted, my face taking a deep shade of red.
She shrugged. "What? I'm just pointing out the obvious. Your dad would not have noticed but I did."
"So, who's the guy?" she added leaning closer.
"It's Blake. His name is Blake." I replied shyly.
"Wow! That's a wonderful name. So how did you guys hit it off?" she asked curiously, sipping her drink.
I told her everything that transpired including me crying in the bathroom.
My Mom has always been my confidant since I was young. I always tell her everything that happens to me and she listens without judging me. I've learnt to tell her my deepest secrets because I know she will never betray me and will always comfort me.
By the time I finished, my Mom was smiling.
"Wow! That's amazing, Lexi. I never thought this day would come." She exclaimed, dabbing at her eyes as happy tears were flowing.
I chuckled lightly.
"I'll leave you to sleep now, so you can wake up early tomorrow." She stood up tucked me in the covers, kissed my forehead, carried the tray before heading to the door.
When she has reached the door, she turned around smiling. "Blake's a keeper, Lexi. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Mom." I smiled as she shut the door and left.
I settled in the bed and switched off the lights. And for the first time in my life I was actually excited to go to school.
I slept off with a smile on my face.
