A Surprise Date

562 Words
Xander's POV I had to think of a way to get Jocelyn to spend more time with me and quickly. The bend in the road where I had told her I had seen the injured deer, was within sight now. When she finally brought the gator to a halt we both got out and decided to each take a separate side of the road. We looked along the side in the soft soil and bushes to see if we could spot any signs that a deer had passed through recently. I knew very well that we wouldn't find anything. I had made up the story of the injured deer just to have a reason to spend some more time with Jocelyn. I also couldn't scent any animals in the near by forest with my wolf senses. After a few more minutes I decided enough time had passed to make it look like I had put in a real effort to find the poor deer. " Looks like I might have been mistaken. I didn't see any signs of deer or any wild life passing through on that side." I stated calmly Jocelyn gave me a sympathetic smile " that's okay, you wouldn't be the first and I sure not the last person that thought they saw an animal in need. I'll just walk down the road a little further to be on the safe side." Knowing that my time was running out, that I would have to get back to my brother soon. I followed behind Jocelyn like a love sick pup not knowing how to make it so I could see her again. Deciding to just go for it I blurted out " Would you like to get a coffee or breakfast with me tomorrow morning?" I watched as Jocelyn came to an abrupt halt and slowly turned to look at me. She had a look of pure shock on her face and I watched as a light blush started to work its way up from her neckline up to her sharp cheekbones. The way she was looking at me I got the feeling the didn't get asked out much. Which was baffling in its self, she was the most breath taking woman I had ever seen. As Jocelyn walked back towards me slowly, I held my breath not knowing what her answer was going to be. " I'd love to" she shyly replied. I gave her a big grin, not being able to contain my excitement.I had to stop myself from scooping her into my arms and spinning her around in a tight hug. I took my cell phone out and asked for her number, telling her I'd call her later that night to set up a time and where to pick her up in the morning. With an apology and a smile I told her I had to leave so that I could meet with my brother before going to work. She asked if she could give me a ride but I declined explaining that our house was a short walk through the woods. Before leaving her side, my wolf Murdoch forced me to lean in and give her a soft kiss to her cheek, breathing her intoxicating smell in once more before jogging into the woods to find Zane and fill him in on all the events of the day.
