The Other Alpha

Zane's POV

I had been feeling restless all day and couldn't figure out why. I had tried to reach out to Xander through our twin link with no luck.

I was just heading back to our house in the woods when I caught the scent of Xander on the wind. He always smelled of a warm bonfire and roasted marshmallows. As I took the steps two at a time to our three bedroom cabin that we built five years ago I saw Xander break through the trees just behind the cabin.I stopped and waited for him to reach the front door with me before asking

" What have you been up to today?I tried reaching out through the link to you but you must have had me blocked?"

"Lets head inside and have a drink and I'll fill you in on everything" was his mysterious reply.

Heading inside I went straight for the refrigerator and grabbed two beers as Xander went to the fireplace and stoked the fire back to life. Taking in his stance I could tell there was something on his mind. He was tense and kept fidgeting,which was something I hadn't seen him do since he was a young pup. Sitting in my recliner I watched as Xander sat on the couch across from me and instantly opened his beer and took s couple mouthfuls before grasping it in both hands and resting his elbows on his knees. As the silence continued to dra out I started feeling myself get anxious. Giving him a couple more minutes to get his thoughts together,I opened my beer and brought it to my lips. As I took a refreshing mouthful Xander blurted out

"I found our mate."

Choking I coughed until tears came to my eyes and I pounded my chest trying to clear my throat. I had wanted to find my mate for many years now but fated mates were very rare. I never would have expected Xander to share that kind of news with me.I wanted to know everything.

"Where?How?What does she look like"? The questions just kept coming, I couldn't help myself. When he didn't answer my questions fast enough I got up and started pacing around the room. Now it all made sense why I had been feeling off all day. My wolf could sense it through our bond that we had finally found our other half. I brought my pacing to a halt infront of the couch and sat next to Xander.

"Tell me please I have to know." I asked in a begging tone.

"She's gorgeous and so tiny. Her name is Jocelyn and she seems shy but I think if given the chance to get to know us,I'm sure we would leran that she had some spunk to her. She has the most beautiful green eyes and long red hair."

Xander was taking great pleasure in having a one up on me. It was usually me that got any useful information first.

"She sounds like just what we have been looking for.How did you find her?"

I couldn't believe how lucky Xander had gotten. Having decided to go for a run and coming back with news of our mate.I was in awe and personally a little jealous.

"I was getting ready to head back home when reached the old gravel road that runs toward the camping ground when I caught the most tantalizing smell, vanilla and coconut." He says with an almost pained sounding groan and an eye fluttering roll. I couldn't help myself from shaking my head and letting a small chuckle out at his antics.

" I was hunkered down in the bushes on the side of the road when I saw her walking down the road in my direction.I just sat still and watched her for a while until she reached right in front of me and stopped and started looking around. I lifted my head up above the bushes to get a better look just as the wind changed direction and blew her scent right at me and that's when I knew she was meant to be ours. I changed back into my human form and followed her scent back to the main office at the campgrounds and made up a story about an injured deer to get her to spend some time with me. I have a date with her in the morning, I'm going to go give her a call and find out what time works for her and where to pick her up from."

With that Xander stood up and walked to his bedroom in the back of the cabin. I was struck silent with this turn of events. The hardest part was done, we had finally found her. Now that Xander had a date lined up I just had to find a way to cross paths with her and hope things went well.

"My sweet Jocelyn,I hope your ready. You've got two alpha wolves that have been waiting a lifetime to meet you." I leaned back on the couch looking into the fire and began to think up a plan to meet and win my mate over.
