Episode 12

Mattheo

She looked so amazed when I'm looking at her.

Since I know well my house, I know where is the possible safe place for us.

"Is this a comfort room?" She said while holding the door that leads to the garage way.

I rushed to stop her.

"It's not the comfort room door." I said while looking at her.

I take a look beside the kitchen because that is the other way to my room. I'm lucky because it's open.

"Come on, Collin. Over here." I said while waving my hands to her. I'm checking if it's safe so I didn't look at her. And once I turn my body and look at the back, I saw her opening the fridge.

I smirked as I look at her. She's so cute.

I walked, near to her to ask her," Are you hungry?"

I made her shock so she close the fridge quickly.

"Why did you do that? You made me so nervous." She said while looking at me, badly.

I just laugh at her.

I gave her a basket but she still looks at me badly.

"Don't worry! It's totally clean, Collin. I always bring that in my room everytime I'm alone. Bring all the food you want so we can go to my room to prepare." I said while giving her a smile.

"To your room?" She asked.

"No way! I'm sure you are planning to do bad thing to me! You wanna rape me, huh! You will never be succeed to your plan!" She said while looking at me.

I was shock after she get the knife and put the edge of the sharp knife to my face.

I raised my two hands as a sign that I won't do anything to her.

She laughs at me.

She's so cute when she's laughing.

"If you could only see your face earlier, Mattheo. You look so scared. You're face is so funny." she said while still laughing.

"You know what, Collin? It's so obvious that you and Samuel are cousins. It's obvious that the blood that flows in the body of the both of you is just the same. You are both insane, Collin! Insane." I said while looking at her.

She continues to laugh at me.

I hold the basket but she snatch it from me.

"Why you're always doing that? You're forcing to get things fast. Why don't you want to wait to give it to you instead of just snatching it. I think it would be better, right?" I said while looking at her.

"Blah, Blah Blah, You're words are enough for now." She said while rolling her eyes.

The real Collin is back! She's rude at me again.

After a few minutes, she already put the food from the fridge to the basket that she's holding on right now.

"Is that only yours?" I said.

She just nod at me then smile.

He ate too much but infairness to her, she's not getting fat.

"Let's go." She said while still holding the basket.

"Follow me!" I said then I signal to her.

She holds my arms.

We walked slowly so we could not create loud noise if ever my family become zombies.

After we reach the door of my room, I opened it. She entered first then I'm the next who entered.

After I close the door, I look at her.

I saw that she put the basket on the table and look around my room.

I'm not that kind of guy who's messy to his room. I know how to clean my things.

"Infairness!" She said while looking around.

I just smile at her.

"Come On! You have to eat now, so we can go, to find that place again." I said.

I look at my closet and find a shirt that fits to her.

"Here!" I said then I gave her the shirt that I get.

You can change if you want.

She just smiled at me.

My room has a comfort room so I fixed myself. It takes fifteen minutes and after that I go outside the comfort room.

I know Collin see's me.

"I'm done eating. You have to eat so you have strength to battle the zombies.

I nod at her and she just nod at me then she entered the comfort room.

It took her twenty minutes to fixed and I'm done eating.

" Who owns this shirt, Mattheo?" She asked while looking at the shirt that she's wearing.

"It's mine." I answer.

"But the prints are not that, a boy design." she added.

I just smiled at her.

"Everyone has a different taste so, don't judge what's mine." I said while looking at her.

"Okay!" She said.

I fixed all the wrappers and plastics.

But she suddenly saw a frames on the table beside my bed.

She sat at the side of the bed and hold the frame.

"Who's this, Mattheo? Is he your brother?" She asked while looking at the picture and holding it.

"His name was, George. Son of Uncle Nathe." I answered.

She's still looking in the frame.

"You look so happy here, Oh!" She said while pointing her fingers in the frame.

"You know what, I just realized that you are cute when you are young. Look!" Shr added.

I'm just smiling at her.

"Ahm, Mattheo," She said then put the frame aon the table and look at me again.

"Is that true?" She asked.

I just look at her.

"When Christoff introduced you to the squad, they didn't tell me about you. I still remember the first day in school, and every meeting, I never see your parents. So where are they?" She asked.

I'm looking at him as if she really wants to know the answer.

I'm asking myself if I'm really to tell everyone my secret.

I know I'm not perfect but I'm still scared to face the truth.

I am looking at her when a loud noise suddenly appeared.

"We look at each other, asking," What was that? or, Who's that?" and always end to the answer," I don't know."

I get my bag and look for my car key on the cabinet of my table and after a few moments, I found it.

" Bring the basket with you, Collin. We will bring food for our trip." I said.

I slowly open the door and hurried to go out with Collin.

We pack up all the food in the fridge and everything that we will need.

"Come On! We need to hurry, Collin." I said.

I open the door and start my car. I know the noise of the engine caught the attention of the zombies so I shouted to, Collin!

"Let's go." I said and she enter the car.

I started my car. We are lucky because the gate is open.

While I'm driving, we saw zombies on the road and they want to get me and Collin.

"Faster, Mattheo. We need to get out of here." She shouted.

I am distractedby her shout. It's about an hour when we leave my house.

And I saw the zombies following us. So I moved the car faster than earlier.

"Why should we stop here?" She asked.

"They might see us, here!" She added.

"Will you please stop creating noise even just for a while, Collin? My mind isn't working because of your loud voice so will you please, even just for a moment, Collin! Please, I'm begging you! Keep your mouth, shut." I said while looking at her.

I saw how she acts at this moment. Maybe she get hurt after saying those words but I need to tell it to her.

There is no gasoline boy here, so I decided to steal a gasoline from them. Sorry! But I have to do this. We need a gas.

This gasoline station is the only station who is near in the forest so I decided to take this way.

As I look at Collin in the mirror, I know she's mad at me.

I don't blame her. I shouted her earlier so I deserve this kind of treatment from her.

"I'm sorry!" I said. And I know she heard it.

"I acted rude earlier to you. It's just happen that, . . ." before I finish what I will say, she already cutted it.

"You don't have to explain, Mattheo. I heard everything. I'm not that stupid so don't treat me like that." She said while looking at the window.

"Come On!" I said.

"No! I said you don't have to explain. I understand. I'm loud, I'm noisy, and I know it. I admit! i know it's my fault. So you don't have to say sorry for what you did. I deserve it." She said.

I saw that she wipe her tears.

"Look, Collin. I have no intention of hurting you. It's just happened that," I said while looking at the mirror.

"But you did. You hurt me." She said while still looking at the window.

"Please just drive fast so we can find that f*cking place so we can end this. So that when it's done, I hope our paths will never cross again." She added.

I was silent.

I don't why I said that.

While I am driving, I always look at her. I don't know how will I please her to talk to me, so I decided to tell her the story.

I know she don't want to talk to me but I know she will listen.

"I am a product of a broken family." I said and I see her look at me shortly and go back, looking at the window.

"I was abandoned since I am three years old. Uncle Nathe, found me in a shelter. He is one of the sponsors there. He said that when the first time he saw me, he likes me then, so he fix the papers immediately for my adoption. He dressed me up, give me things that I need, he buy me stuffs, toys, spoiled me with foods, and you know what is the best that he gave? It's a home. He treated me like his own son. George was the same as my age that time. His mother died when she's giving birth to George. I owe them everything. It feels like, I was born again." I said while I'm continuing to drive.

I know I caught her attention so I continue to tell her my story.

"I thought that, when I grow old, I will never feel the insecurities of being an adopted child but then I realize that I'm wrong. Having luxury things will never replace the value of love of your real family. I know it's unfair. But don't blame me. I just can't understand why my parents decided to abandon me." I added.

My tears started to fall but I just ignored it and instead, I continue to tell my story.

"Did you know that George and I are not okay anymore? He's mad at me. So I always distanced myself to him and uncle Nathe understands it. I need to matured enough because I'm older to him." I said.

I breathe deeply and sigh.

"So, what's the reason why you're fighting with your brother?" She asked. Caused me to look at her again.

"Because of that one girl." I answered.

"One girl? So, you two, are sharing one girl? Wow!" She said then smirk.

"No! That's not what happened." I said.

"His girlfriend secretly had a crush on me and I don't know it in the first place. I didn't talk to her because I'm not interested. I'm always ignoring her. But one time, she admit that she likes me and she's trying to kiss me. I pulled her away from me then George, saw it. He shouted at me and his girlfriend said that I'm trying to kiss her even if I'm not. Because of that, George began to treat me different from what he treated me before." I added.

I heard her her deep breathe before she said something that," I never thought that you have that kind of story."

I just smiled at her.

"I'm so sorry, Collin." I said.

She just smiled at me then said, "Apology accepted."

After that I still continue driving.
