Chapter 18

911 Words
Time passed quickly and the vacation was soon over. It was time for Bunny to go back to the hospital where he would be cared for until his final moments. Ted and Wang returned home while Lara took the children to the playground near the hospital. Bunny, Sally, and Max also went there. Bunny and Max wore special trench coats to hide themselves from the fans who would surely be around. After Bunny returned to the doctor, he was immediately tested and, unfortunately, the rabbit only had one day to live. The days had passed so quickly on the private island. Bunny did get the necessary care there, but unfortunately, the medication didn't help anymore and he was prepared to die. But what did that actually feel like? Bunny chose not to let his kids and Josh be there. He had a plan and that was to make a goodbye video. One was for his family and friends, while the others were for the fans. The doctor gave permission. Everything was organized so that Bunny could say goodbye in videos. The rabbit asked his loved ones not to disturb him for a while and they respected it and left Bunny alone. When he was alone in his hospital room, he started talking. He greeted first and then he started explaining why he made this video. “I am dying,” he explained. He then began to say beautiful words that he had thought up in his head. He thanked in both videos for all the love and support and also said he hoped he wouldn't be forgotten as a beloved daddy, uncle, and superstar. Then he started to cry, let it be known that he was afraid to die, but he would be strong until he took his last breath. After Bunny was done with everything, he turned off the camera and pressed the bell button to call the doctor. * Sally patiently waited in her seat with Max while Bunny made the videos for his loved ones and the fans. It could indeed take a while and your patience ran out, but it was important to respect his wish. To keep themselves busy, Max and Sally began talking to each other as they were both waiting. They hadn't even heard the bell and saw the doctor coming. He gave Sally and Max a small smile before entering the room and closing the door. He came back 5 minutes later and nodded at us, a sign that we could enter. Bunny's wife and his best friend entered. The doctor walked over and gave an update on Bunny's condition. “Unfortunately, Bunny doesn't have much time left. I discussed it with my colleagues and he will go to sleep tomorrow.” Sally's heart stopped beating for a second. She has to say goodbye to her husband here in the hospital tomorrow. Max couldn't believe what he heard. It wasn't that long before he died. "I'll leave you alone," said the doctor before leaving. After the doctor left, Max and Sally looked at the weak rabbit. He smiled weakly and sadly at them. "I'm terribly sorry," said Bunny in a weak voice. The whole day was full of sadness. Bunny chose to be alone with Sally along with the doctor who would put him to sleep. Sally called Lara, Ted, and Wang to find out what the doctor said. Wang and Ted would be there soon, while Lara would come later when Max and/or Sally are home. She wanted to say goodbye to the rabbit she watched grow up. Max waited in the hallway while Sally stayed with her husband to keep him company. * When Sally and Bunny heard the knocking, they looked at the door and saw that it was Max along with the bear and the monkey. They looked at them sadly as they walked in. Sally kissed Bunny on his soft cheek before she and Max left the room. It took a while for Ted and Wang to emerge from the room with sad looks on their faces. It looked like they were about to cry, so Sally and Max hugged them for comfort. Sally's head started ticking like a clock. Bunny would die in so many hours. The doctor made the decision with them to put Bunny to sleep in the morning, when Sally went to the hospital. In the evening, Lara came by to say goodbye. Sally then stayed home and watched over the children. Max took Lara home for safety reasons because it was dark. After Lara was brought home safely, he came to pick up Josh and they went home together. Sally read a book to Snow Ball and Midnight while they were in bed. It was a bunk bed that they slept in. The children watched their mother's expression intently. What was there? Sally had tears in her eyes and her voice was shaking. Finally, she lost control and began to cry. It was too much for her. She did not notice that her children were moving from the bed to their mother. They hugged her and Sally was in shock so she stopped crying. Why did the children comfort her when the children had the worst? They were losing their father while Josh was losing his uncle. "Why?" That was just what Sally asked as she hugged her kids back. "You're not alone, Mommy," Snow Ball said, while Midnight said, "Daddy better above."
