Chapter 13

2165 Words
Already years had passed since Sally had last seen the boys. It had been many years and now Sally was a beautiful teenager, in her early teenage years. In the beginning, and still, she suffered from being a teenager. It was thanks to Lara that she felt better. Without her, things probably would have been different. Sally stared at the window as it rained hard outside. She was sitting in her master's bedroom. It has been updated to a more adult style. She sighed because it wasn't her day. She was happy to hear the boys' voices over the phone though, but Sally wanted to hug them and never let them go, but that wasn't easy. They had to finish their training. Sally's parents were still the same, dirty liars. And as always, they were often at work instead of home. Sally didn't really care anymore if they were home or not, as long as Lara was still in her life she was fine with it. She saw both Lara and Rose as her mother figure and no one else. Sally last spoke with Max yesterday, while Bunny was a week ago. She began to worry about him because Max said over the phone that Bunny was starting to act strangely, as if he was in constant pain. But what Sally did not yet know was that Bunny was being mistreated every day and was indeed in a lot of pain. The same was true for Max. Both boys had to hide it or they would be in big trouble. They didn't even know how to ask for help without getting into the spotlight... It was a big risk to be caught and punished by who knows what. Sally was just about to lie on her bed and check her social media on her new cell phone when Lara flew in without knocking. Sally was startled as she immediately looked at Lara, who was panting from running. Sally couldn't help but think that maybe Lara had run as fast as Sonic. But why was Lara in such a hurry? Sally wanted to ask what was going on until Lara raised her hand, a signal to be quiet. Lara held her breath and looked at her. She also seemed very excited. "Are you going to the ball at your school this evening?" Sally shook her head no. "No. I have no one to spend this evening with. You do know that I have no friends, even though I tried." Lara looked at Sally with understanding. What Sally said was true. She tried to make friends since the boys were gone, but when she made a friend, she was betrayed years later for some unknown reason. Sally didn't make friends then, even though she tried. "I understand you, Sally. But me and Rose have a surprise for you!" Sally was curious then. What surprise? She wanted to know immediately but she took her time. She loved surprises. Her eyes began to twinkle. "What is it?" Lara moved to quickly grab something and Sally tried to catch a glimpse of what she was grabbing. Then a clean white box appeared and Lara walked over to Sally and handed it to her. Sally looked at her questioningly while Lara only nodded excitedly at her. Sally put the box on her bed and opened the lid. Sally couldn't believe what she saw. It was a beautiful light blue dress. She unwrapped it carefully and it was soft. It was even more gorgeous when seen in full. She immediately looked at Lara, who was still looking at her excitedly. "So, how do you like him?" Lara's eyes began to twinkle. Sally didn't know what to say at first. The dress was so beautiful... She looked back at the dress and after a few seconds, then she looked at Lara with a smile and nodded. "It is beautiful but... why do I get it?" Lara's twinkling eyes disappeared and then she had a grin on her face. Sally knew immediately then that Lara was hiding something. Not just Lara, but Rose as well. But what? She desperately wanted to know. Before Sally asked any more questions, Lara interrupted her. "Put that dress on. Quickly!" Sally immediately did as Lara said and went to the bathroom to put on the dress. After she appeared back in her room, Lara couldn't believe her eyes. The dress fit her perfectly! It enveloped her body so wonderfully. Lara had tears in her eyes from joy, she went up to her and hugged her. "You are a beautiful woman, Sally." * The day grew dark, the sky turned from blue to black, and stars appeared in the sky. The rain also stopped and the clouds disappeared. The moon didn't shine today and Sally was now in Rose's car, on her way to her school for the prom. She had her beautiful dress on and also got pretty blue shoes so the colors would match. Sally did not appear to be very excited about going to school. As I said, she was lonely and had no friends, not even her classmates. Rose parked on the side of the street and looked over her shoulder at Sally with a smile. "Enjoy your evening. Oh, and be patient with your surprise. They need to be prepared first." That interested Sally. So it was persons and not objects. Then she had something in her head. That can't be true. Were they ... them? She nodded and got out of the car immediately. She had to find out. The ball was in the big gymnasium and when Sally walked in, she couldn't believe her eyes. It looked beautiful with a disco ball hanging from the ceiling. There was also a DJ. But what grabbed Sally's attention was the stage that had been built. Large red curtains covered who knows how many people behind them and Sally began to wonder who was behind them. No, maybe not Max and Bunny. When Sally entered, there were many people and furries all looking beautiful. Some were dancing, chatting, and drinking non-alcoholic beverages. But Sally didn't want to be there and wanted to go back home, but Rose's words stuck in her head. She had to be patient to see what the real surprise was, even if she didn't think it could be Bunny and Max. She continued inside and stopped when the lights went out. The disco ball lit up and different colors appeared everywhere. Sally loved it, but what was happening? Then she saw that quite a few students from her school were paying attention to the stage because lights appeared on it. The DJ turned the music down a bit and then the curtains opened. Sally's eyes fell open at the familiar faces on stage. It was Bunny and Max! Sally's heart was pounding with happiness. She immediately moved closer until she was at enough distance for the boys to see her. She looked closely at the boys. Both wore white gloves, had black suits on, and had three earrings on one ear. Both looked extremely good. Max was like an older brother to Sally but Bunny ... it was totally different. Bunny started singing while Max sat on the chair playing guitar. Even Max's hair was different. Not grown longer, but exactly softer and the same with Bunny's fur. Bunny's blue eyes met Sally's and he winked at her. Sally blushed and giggled. Some of the students began dancing or keeping themselves busy while Sally watched the boys all the time. Her sense of loneliness disappeared completely and she focused entirely on her friends whom she had known since they were little ones. Bunny had indeed kept his promises. * After their song was done, Bunny put away his microphone while Max did the same with his guitar. Both got off the stage and Sally immediately walked over to them. After she reached them, Sally jumped into the boys' arms, both of them catching her in their arms to hug her back. "You guys are really here!" Max smiled more while Bunny grinned. "Of course we're here," Bunny said. But what Max said next broke Sally's hopes. They weren't here long. When the ball was done, they had to leave. It didn't take long anymore, but Sally wanted to take her chance to spend her time with the boys, so that was what she did. The three started talking and they talked a lot about their time. But when Sally asked how training was going, she noticed they were lying with fake smiles on their faces. What was going on? Sally was a smart girl like other students here and knew she had to tell Rose and tell Lara. Then the DJ changed the music and more romantic music came on. The boys and Sally looked at the rest and saw that some students started dancing slowly to make it romantic. Then there was an awkward silence, as if they didn't know what to do. Max noticed how awkward Bunny and Sally were, so what exactly did he do? He pushed the two against each other and pushed them toward the center of the gymnasium once more. Bunny had his paws around the middle of Sally's back while Sally's hands were on his shoulders. They looked at each other nervously and when they looked at Max, he put his thumb up, a signal for them to go for it. They looked back at each other and began to dance slowly, their arms glued around each other. Both were quiet, and Sally pressed her cheek against Bunny's chest because he was bigger. Bunny couldn't help but smile in love. It felt so right and good and he gave a little kiss to the back of Sally's head. It wasn't long before it was done with dancing and the two went back to Max, who was waving to a girl with whom he had been dancing. Sally grinned inside. Maybe it was his love for the rest of his life? They arrived and just started talking to each other. Max was proud of himself that he had managed to get Bunny and Sally to dance. * Unfortunately, the ball was almost over and that meant the boys almost had to leave. Sally noticed that the boys were not happy to go back, but why? So she told Max that they would go with Bunny to a separate room to speak with him privately. Max understood this and nodded, but what he said hit Sally. "Be careful." Sally looked at him questioningly. Careful of what? What did she have to be careful of? She decided to follow Max's advice and went over to Bunny who was drinking water, alone at the table. Max went over to the same girl he was dancing with and started talking to her and to her friends as well. "Bunny, can we talk in a separate classroom? You and me?" Bunny nodded and drank his glass of water before walking with Sally. They started talking about random things until they found a classroom where no one was. Bunny opened the door for Sally. The girl blushed with a smile and went inside. When the door was finally closed, Sally started asking him questions. You know the questions. It was about his weird behavior and his training. Bunny started lying a lot but when Sally didn't stop asking questions at all, their conversation got completely out of hand. It was getting heated and then the two started yelling at each other with full angry looks on their faces. Sally desperately wanted to know the truth about what was actually going on so she could help Bunny, but the rabbit was too stubborn to tell the truth. Wasn't it because he wanted to protect Sally? Protect her from what? Bunny lost control and began to cry. Sally also had tears in her eyes because she almost lost control. But she didn't expect Bunny to get into this state. Finally, their arguing stopped but, as the English say, "The damage has already been done. Bunny began to shiver as if he was cold, but no, he had simply lost control and needed help and support. Sally couldn't believe what had happened, someone she loved so much... She immediately went to him and hugged him tightly and pressed his body against hers to comfort him. This made Bunny stop shivering and then he felt his shoulders get wet. His eyes went wide. Sally was crying! "I'm terribly sorry, Bunny. I'm very sorry." Bunny then felt Sally begin to cry harder. Bunny let his ears hang down and hugged her back too. "I'm sorry too, Sally," he whispered softly in her ear. This night Sally would never forget. Even though they had argued for the first time, they had resolved it and didn't let go of each other until it was time to say goodbye...
