CHAPTER TWO

Forks was a small town and almost every kid in forks high knew one another, having a new guy in school seemed to have propelled a kind of frenzy , Paige seemed to be on top of the world since the new guy was her latest bestie, I dint see the big deal about the guy,all the school clubs were trying to get him to be a part of theirs. Today’s the third day of the new guy’s arrival in school and the frenzy still hadn’t subsided, rather it seemed to be at its peak.

Joanna and Katelyn accompanied me to the auditorium,I had to rehearse my solo, plus I really needed to get away from the hustles and bustles about Zain Carter, it was getting irritating.

"I don't get what's the big deal about him anyway,so what if he's cool?”. I was saying to Joanna and Katelyn.

"You have to accept it crystal,he is kinda cute,plus he has that cold attitude, like some alpha billionaire ,and he strikes that 'I’m in charge and you gotta respect me' look", Katelyn said and laughed.

"I can't believe you guys right now,he's arrogant and annoying,he freaking hangs with Paige". I said hoping to somehow garner their support.

"Cut the guy some slack,so what if he hangs with Paige?, he doesn't know what kind of a person she truly is, you can't blame him for hanging with the first person that smiles and welcomes him,plus she's a flirty blonde with everything sleazy". Joanna said.

I rolled my eyes as we walked into the auditorium,Tyler said he'd come watch my rehearsal,he.........

"Holy wow!". I breath on seeing the amount of people in the auditorium,it was packed up from top to bottom, no seat was left unoccupied, I didn't get why it

was so full, normally we’d expect fifty people at most in the auditorium after school, today was completely far from normal.

"Oh my gosh”. Joanna said slowly. "He’s actually here".

I didn't need to ask who she was talking about 'cause I sighted him, Zain Carter sat crossed legged with Paige seated by his side being as clingy as ever, I got why the place was so stuffed today, he picked the solo club after all.

I stepped into the hall fully,Joanna and Katelyn giggled and left me to go find a place to sit,I sighted Tyler amongst the crowd of people,he smiled and waved at me, his eyes twinkling as the lights from the fluorescents reflected in them, I waved back before I walked to the podium and took my place in the spotlight, everyone cheered and clapped as a mic was handed to me, my eyes landed on Paige who scoffed and rolled her eyes. As if I could care any less.

"Hey guys!". I said to the crowd, my voice travelled around the hall.

They cheered and chanted “Crystal Crystal Crystal”. Good that I had never been one to shy away from the limelight else I would have probably fainted from nervousness, a smirk crossed my lips as a thought crossed my mind.

Perhaps its where I belong.

My gaze met Tyler's and I said

"Thanks for coming" .

The crowd cheered even more.

My eyes flicker as I sight Paige stalking toward the podium, grabbing a mic she said

"No one is here for you Crystalline".

Everyone gasped at the fact that she just called my full name which is probably exaggerated, l was already pissed off and I got even more pissed when I saw Zain Carter chuckle, it all seemed entertaining to him.

"Stop basking in the limelight like its some throne okay? you ‘re lame". Paige was saying.

A lot of ‘Ooooh’s and ‘buuuurrrn’s followed

"Get off the stage and let the queen teach you how its done’. she said as she advanced towards me.

I wished I could push her off the podium and get done with it, true that she may only have sustained minor injuries but I didn't mind as long as she got hurt.

She cleared her throat, brushed some tendrils from her face and began.

I waited till she was done, the crowd exploded in loud applauds, I smirked cause I knew I wouldn’t be going down so easily, I had the perfect retaliation for this.

"Now that you're done Paige, I'd also like to sing a song". I said with a malicious smile.

She smirked and said

"Well why not?,you can try"

And with an equally malicious smile she added “But you sure as hell cant beat that”

"Of course". I said before I began singing my twisted version of James Arthur's long live the King, in this case it was long live the Queen.

I'm gett'n tired of your disrespect,

Satisfaction crept into me as I watched her face redden and her eyes well up with tears as my words humiliated her beyond any measure of doubts.

‘Oooooh’s, ‘outch’s, and ‘buuuuurrrrn’s were the only sounds I could hear from the crowd untill I was done.

Silence follows for some seconds before the crowd Exploded in cheers and whistles ,Paige threw her mic to the floor and stalks down the podium and out of the auditorium ,Maddie and Jinna rushed out as well, I smiled smugly with satisfaction and turned to face the crowd, my gaze met Zain Carter's, his lips curved into an irritating sneer ,he didn't clap nor cheer, all he did was stare, at that moment it was also all I could do,I stared at him trying to understand his arrogance but instead I found myself entranced by his domineering aura, one of his hand rested on the armrest while the other held his phone which he had probably been scrolling through ,he seemed relaxed in the chair which suddenly looked so much of a throne,I couldnt seem to avert my gaze from his, was almost hypnotizing ,I blinked quickly when he stood up and walked out,i dragged in a deeb breath before I raised my head to face the cheering crowd fully,I smiled and waved back.
