Chapter14

I opened my eyes and groaned at the beaming sunlight that had trespassed into my room. I rolled over to my other side to hide from the unwanted morning. Wait morning? The babies usually wake me up by now. I peeked my eyes open and shot up in a panic. The babies weren’t in their crib. I kicked my legs over the bed and ran through the door conjoining Damián’s room, but he wasn’t there either. My heart pounded against my chest as I thought the worse. Had someone taken them while sleeping? Was it Damian? Cole? I swing open the door and dashed down the stairs at the speed of light. Lost in my own panic  I turned the corner and ran into a warm wall=like chest. The bump knocked me off balance and tumbled me backward but quickly saved by a pair of large hands that shot electricity up my shoulders.

“Woah! Easy there I was just coming to wake you breakfast is ready.” Damien’s said holding on to me.

“Are the twins with you?” I asked panicked.

“yeah, they’re in the kitchen I heard them wake up so I thought id take them and let you rest.” he rubbed my arms up and down to sooth my nerves. I sighed in relief.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you” he said reassuringly.

“No, it’s fine I’m just a little paranoid” I shrugged out of his hold and walked around him to the kitchen.

I would be too. Ugh I should of told her I was grabbing them

“I’m sorry I just didn’t want wake you.” He tried to explain following me into the large white kitchen with stainless steel appliances and white marble counter tops. My eyes skimmed the room landing in the twins sitting on boosters at the island. I sighed once I knew they were ok and turned to Damien.

“I told you its ok. I appreciate you trying to help but, yes, next time tell me if you’re taking my kids.”  I touched his forearm to reassure him but instinctively retracted when I felt the sparks. I don’t think I'll ever get used to it. He frowned at my reaction to his touch wishing my hand would of lingered. Then he got this image of a lake in his head and his face brightened

“so, um, I wanted to show you around today, maybe go to lunch? We can take the twins or I can hire a babysitter and double the guards so it could be just us?” Domain asked in a hopeful voice

“I’ll watch them!” Lilly squalled while practically flying into the kitchen, clearly overhearing our conversation. I gave her a sideways glare.

Just do it! hes hott and you haven’t been on a real date in foreverr! She grinned at me innocently. I looked back at Damian with his hopeful puppy dog eyes and back at Lilly who was still smiling like an i***t.

“I don’t know...I think I should be close to the twins we are being hunted after all” I protested.

“Vampires can’t do anything in the sunlight besides, I have the borders on lockdown no one’s going in or out.” Damian persuaded.

 I rolled my eyes and sighed. “Alright.”

Yes! They both thought in unison.

I looked up at Damien who was smiling from ear to ear is mossy green eyes bright and shining with excitement.

It’ll be okay, yeah, vampires can’t even go out in the sun, so they’ll be safe. besides the pack lands are shrouded by magic no one will find us.

“I guess I'll start getting ready” I said pointing with my thumb to the staircase.

“Yeah, I’ll get dressed too we’ll leave as soon as you're ready.” Damian said barely holding his excitement. I turned and went back to my room to get ready for the first date I’ve had in years.

In my room I shuffled through my clothes. One good thing about reading minds is that I know what he’s planning for our date and I know how to dress. I decided on a pair of black ripped leggings and a long flowy a-cemeterial spaghetti strap top that had blue tentacles as the design. I brushed my hair, teeth and did a blue smokey eyeshadow that matched my top. About half an hour later I was heading down the stairs ready for my first date with Alpha Werewolf Damian Black. i walked down the staircase to find him on all fours hiding behind a brown sofa. The twins standing on the cushions with big smiles on there faces laughing hysterically as Damain popped up and fake growled at the two. I smiled and watched it was cute seeing him play with the kids. And they took to him so easily, probably because he came with food. Damian eventually saw me and stood up smiling.

“you ready?” he asked.

“yeah” I said and smiled back at him.

He met me at the door and opened it reaching his hand to mine. I flinched away and walked ahead of him. A small whimper came from the back of his thoughts. Must be his Wolf. I walked toward                          the red Camaro parked in front of the door. A boy maybe 16 or 17 stood next to it holding the keys. Damian grabbed the keys from the kid then opened the passenger side door for me. I kept my eyes glued to the ground as I got in. I can’t really figure out what to say to him after our kiss last night. After he closed the door, I crossed my legs and and turned toward the window, crossing my arms. He got in the passenger side and apron seeing my closed off position sighed.

I thought after that kiss things would be less tense between us but its like things are worse now..   he thought.

I sighed in response, he clearly forgot I could read minds. I leaned forward to tun on the radio. Pop Music 101 by Marianas Trench started to play. I blinked at the music but in a blink of an eye the radio changed to popa roach. I looked at Damian who was completely red.

“Hey I liked that song.” I complained.

“you do? Figures it’s a girly song” he said. But his thoughts betrayed him

“if its girly then why do you have it?” I asked.

“well um, it was probably one of the she-wolfs that use the car.” He explained.

“uh huh you know I can read you mind right? “I reminded him. he was stunned.

Shit I forgot

“you want to start a relationship with me why would you lie to me right off the bat? Especially over something so small like a Girly song” I said flatly as I gazed out the window

“I’m sorry you’re right.” He sounded sincere I looked over at him

“As the Alpha I must be the perfect picture of manliness, strength and leadership. So, I hide things that make look weak.”

I looked back out the window “true strength Is not being afraid to be yourself. Weather its liking Marianas Trench or Disturbed. By the way, liking a band doesn’t make you look weak hiding it because it’s a boy band does. I snickered while looking at his embarrassed face.

Man, she’s going to be an awesome Luna. He thought.

“Again, I can hear you. You are jumping ahead too much.”

“So, it is ahead though?” he joked. I rolled my eyes and looked back at the window.

That’s not a no he smirked.

We drove through the town he showed me all the different casinos and restaurants. I asked if we could get something but the said he had something better planned. We reached the edge of town and kept driving until he pulled over in front of what seemed like a forest.

“we’re here” he said smiling.

I looked around as I got out of the car.

“where’s here?” I asked.

The image of the same lakes before  flashed through his mind.

He locked the car making a beep sound and gestured me to follow him.

I eyed him carefully as I entered the foliage. It wasn’t long until we where in a clearing with a glistening hot spring lake on the grass was a blanked covered in pillows and food.

“woah” is all I could say to the beautiful view before me. I turned to Damian.

“did you do all this for me?” I asked astonished.

He slowly walked closer to me and took my hands in his.

“You need to know and understand that there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you. I told you before that I needed to hide everything that makes me look weak but my love for you is strong and you, “ he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear “you make me feel strong.”

I backed away ”You know nothing about me how can you be so certain of all of this?” I said looking at the ground.

He closed the gap again and held my chin between his thumb and forefinger, making me look into his eyes. He staired at them for a long moment thought running though his head so fast I couldn’t make it out.

“I..” I was cut off when he kissed me. Without thinking I leaned into the kiss making it deeper. His lips where so soft yet his kiss was desperate like he was trying to convince me of all his feelings through this kiss. He snaked his hands around my waist and pulled me into his chest. I couldn’t help but notice how perfectly body fit into his. I felt safe, secure even. The feeling was almost foreign to me. All of this is foreign to me.

I broke the kiss. Catching my breath as I looked at him. he stroked my cheek with his hand, longing in his eyes. I blinked and looked away from him stepping out of his hold.

“Damian, I…”

“you can’t tell me you don’t feel this” he laced his fingers around mine tingles shooting up my hand causing my breath to hitch in my throat.

“I’m not saying I don’t” I told him letting go of his hand. “I’m saying I have no interest in it. My focus is my children I don’t need anyone else; I don’t want anyone else I have no time for anyone else.”

I felt a small pin in my chest when I said those words. Like my heart didn’t mean it, but my brain sure did. i still don’t know what this guys true goal is. Every guy who has ever wanted me has wanted something from me. Weather its my blood or my power its always something. And I can’t let myself believe this is anything different.

“I’m not giving up on you.” I looked up at him shocked.

“You are my mate, The blessed moon goddess made you for me to help me lead me pack I will not throw away such a gift.”

“There you men go again! I’m not a possession!” I yelled.

 “and I will not let you treat me as such.”  I took my herbs out of my pocket crushed them in my hand and dropped them on the ground. The herbs begin to smoke as soon as the hit the ground leaving a wall of smoke between us. Domain looked at me with confusion and worry in his eyes.

“Relinquo” I said as I stepped through the smoke and disappeared before his eyes.
