5 days. It had been 5 of the longest days of my life. I had only left Adeline's side to use the restroom and to shower once because Max wouldn’t stop nagging at me to change out of my bloodied clothes, but otherwise I sat by her bed, not talking, not eating, and the only time I slept was when I’d pass out from exhaustion.
