The Birthday Party

Jane's POV

Today I will turn 18 and my parents are both excited and concerned for me. It is my last chance to shift. If I don't shift on my birthday things will get really worst for me. My parents are trying their best to ensure my future safety but with present circumstances things are very messed up.

I haven't seen Amelia for the last two days and I'm very concerned for her. Dad forbade me from meeting her, everyone is angry with her because we lost our alliance because she broke the engagement. I wish she could be here. As I'm turning 18 and it is a big affair my family is planning to throw a big party.

The party will take place at our house and in addition to our friends and family all the guest Alphas and Betas will also attend the party which means Xavier will be coming to. I know Dad will hate it but he cannot leave out the Blood Moon. It will be considered disrespectful and disrespecting someone is totally against our traditions.

As I look around our house everyone is very busy the day is quite hectic. Everyone running here and there some with decorations and others with food and other stuff. Mom is personally looking at the preparations and she is very excited. Her firstbone will be 18 today an adult.

My brothers are also excited and keeps irritating each other as usual but I cannot see Dad anywhere, he is probably busy with preparations for the Ceremony. Our pack had done the preparations in advance but still some were left and the number of participants in the Ceremony this year is super huge, so Dad is working very hard for everything to go smoothly.

"I sent your dress to your room. Do check it once before the evening" Mom tells me.

"I already tried it and it is amazing, thanks Mom" I reply and give her a kiss on the right cheek.

"I still can't believe you will be 18 tonight" Mom says super excited.

As evening nears the guest starts arriving in few moments our lawn is filled with guests.

My mother bought an elegant maroon floor length dress made of lacey fabric. I keep my makeup minimum and do my hair in a messy side hair bun.

The door of my room knocks and Jo and Ray appears in their blue and golden dress. "Woah! You look stunning" Ray comments sending me a wink.

"Happy birthday dear" Jo hands me a small gift box and hugs me tightly. Ray also joins in the hug. It feels amazing to be with my friends again but I miss Amelia even more now. I wish she was here with us.

"I wish Amelia was here" Jo says. "Me too, but what she did is unacceptable. She should have thought about the consequences" replies Ray. Everyone in the Pack found out that we lost our alliance with Opal Moon because of Amelia but they have kept the part about Blood Moon a secret.

"Have you guys talked to her" I ask them curiously.

"No, our parents want us to stay away from her" Ray answers sadly. "I don't understand why she broke her engagement in the first place. I mean she was acting weirdly for the last couple of weeks but who could have thought Amelia will do something like this" Jo tells us.

"Exactly, she was the one who used to lecture us about the Pack and what is good and what is bad and all the rules etc. I didn't even believed it when I first heard about it" says Ray.

"Maybe she has a reason. We don't know anything so we shouldn't say anything. I'm sure she had a valid reason Amelia will never do something stupid" I say, I wish I could tell them the reason but I can't.

"Lets go everyone is waiting for you" says Ray and we start going out to the lawn.

As we arrive at the party a lot of people comes and wish me but my eyes keep looking for him. I spot him standing in a less crowded corner with his Beta. He just nods at me and doesn't come forward to wish me. His Beta however does come and wish me. I don't like him at all especially after what he did to Amelia I'm very angry with him. I say thanks and then ignore him.

The party progresses but Xavier never comes near me. I can feel his eyes on me all the time but he keeps the distance. I decide to go and ask him what is wrong with him but I'm stopped by my mother's voice.

"Jane! It is time come on lets cut the cake" she calls me and I have to follow.

As I stand on the makeshift stage and enormous cake appears, it is chocolate flavored. I can't believe I'm celebrating my 18th birthday like a 5 year old but what can I say this is what my Mom wants. I know why they made it a big deal because everyone wants to know whether I will get my wolf tonight or not. I think my parents wanted to put an end to all the rumours that's why they invited everyone.

The clock strucks twelve and my friends does the count down as if we are 5, I blow the candles and cut the cake. I look around everyone is looking at me curiously as if I have grown horns. But nothing happens to me I don't feel anything like I have heard from my friends when they got their wolfs.

My mother comes near me and asks "are you feeling any different?"

"No, I'm feeling the same but a little uncomfortable as everyone is staring at me" I answer.

Her face fells and I can clearly see the sadness. Dad comes forward and puts his hand around her to comfort her.

"I think we should leave the young ones alone now. Let them enjoy the party while we will talk about something serious" Dad tells everyone and all present except for the youth leaves. I even see the disappointment on Uncle James face when he looks at me.

All this makes me sad too but what can I do it is not my fault that I don't have a wolf. My friends come near me and the music also starts everyone starts enjoying the party. But I'm constantly looking for him. He gives me a last glance and leaves. Was he also expecting that i will get my wolf?

I'm left with my friends and so many people I know nothing about. Happy birthday to me.
