The castle is definitely a sight to see and whenever I or rather, whenever Queen Alexandria gets ahold of me and trust me, she always managed to find me even if I'm hiding from her. I think the Queen might possess a super power called 'Mildred bring your daughter to me' and it works every time. Never once failed.
"Have you seen my son anywhere, dear?"
I stop staring at the rose bushes and shakes my head. That's the reason why Queen Alexandria always invites me to the castle - to talk about her son. I swear, she's the President of 'Onyx and Halsey Mate Club' while my mother is the Vice President.
"I'm sure he's out there somewhere chasing she-wolves left and right, your highness." Internally gagging at the image of Onyx salivating while watching she-wolves like a horny wolf that he is.
Queen Alexandria laughs and continues to trim a bunch of flowers and placing some on my basket which are now full to the brim with different sorts of flowers. "My son is not like that, dear. He might show that kind of attitude but we all know the real him. You know the real him."
I know him before he decided to change.
"He talks about you a lot too." Queen Alexandria smiles when she sees my reaction. "I'm not joking. He talks about you every single day. Poor Magnus almost wants to remove his ears off so that he could not hear any more 'Halsey did this and that' and 'I'm so proud of her, dad.'"
Say what?
"He's not like that when I'm around, your highness." I said, plucking a single rose and watch it closely. "Maybe Onyx has a split personality or something."
"I assure you, Halsey. He may be putting up this facade but we all know it's not true. Onyx adores you more than we do." Putting her cutting tools aside. Queen Alexandria slowly walks towards me with a gentle smile. "Believe me, darling. I know my son."
I pursed my lips. "If you say so, your highness. We should probably go inside so that we can arrange all of the flowers."
After arranging and watching Queen Alexandria smack her husband a few times in the head for attempting to arrange a bouquet and dropping it to the floor when his finger got prick numerous times.
"Magnus, I swear to the moon goddess if you don't pick up those roses I will smack you so hard even Onyx will feel it."
"Yes, darling." King Magnus murmured before kneeling down.
"What are you whispering about? That better not be about me or else."
"I was talking to the flowers, dear." King Magnus said, widening his eyes at me when his wife turned around to grab another vase. I giggled when he got smacked again. "- ow! You're such a -"
Queen Alexandria glares at him. "- such a what, Magnus?"
"What is all the fuss about, mother? I can hear your voice from the other side of the room." Onyx said, raising an eyebrow towards his parents before settling his eyes on my direction. "And we have a visitor, I see."
"Halsey here was just helping me with all of the flower arrangements, sweetie." Queen Alexandria then points towards her husband. "- and he's just - what are you even doing here, Magnus?"
The King shrugs. "I don't have anything to do and I'm bored."
"What about running the kingdom? That's your job, father." Onyx said, stealing a single piece of rose in the basket and began plucking it's petals while whispering 'she loves me, she better loves me or else' and smirks when he sees me watching him. "Hey, hals. Didn't see you there."
I just roll my eyes.
"Running the kingdom stresses me out. When can I retire?" King Magnus then watch how Onyx stiffen before glancing at me. "When will that be? What do you think, my love?"
Queen Alexandria giggles. "Hopefully soon."
Onyx and I just stood there awkwardly before Harold barged in with what appears to be our school bags. How did he - nope! I already know the answer and she just appeared with a huge grin on her face.
"Onyx, will drive you to school today." She said, wiggling her brows at me.
I'd rather walk than be in a car with him.
Of course, that didn't happen since my mother even accompanied me inside his car while the driver watch us with amused eyes. This is so not amusing!
Once we exited the gates. Complete silence enveloped us for a few minutes before he opens his big mouth.
"We only have History class, right?"
Ignore him, Halsey.
"Hals, oh come on. Look at me."
Would you look at that! It's a tree. Never seen one before.
I squeal when a finger pokes my side which is my forbidden side - the ticklish area. I grind my teeth and glare at Onyx. "Don't. Touch. Me."
He laughs. "Already. Did."
That's the end of our wonderful conversation. Oh and I made sure to slam his car door hard when we arrived at school. Ha! Whose laughing now? Me, of course.
"Good morning, class!" Professor Gilbert said while carrying a huge amount of papers and carelessly drops it on his table. He turns his attention to the white board and starts to write 'Elementals and its origin' with big cursive words. Then he began, "Todays topic is all about the Elementals."
"Someone is definitely interested" someone beside me murmured.
I began writing notes while Onyx plays with the ends of my hair, slightly twirling it on his finger. Yes! He's sitting right next to me. I swear, our parents has something to do with this arrangement. Every single class that we have made us seat beside each other and the worse part is we are always, always assigned to be partners - just the two of us. All the damn time.
"...An elemental doesn't have an immortal soul."
Onyx leans forward and peeks towards my notes. "You're clearly interested on Elementals, huh?"
Just ignore him, Halsey. Maybe someday you'll be able to chuck him into the ocean.
"...however marriage with a human can give the elemental and it's offsprings a soul."
"Are you ignoring me, Hals?"
"...elementals are created when formations such as mountains and rivers die."
Onyx leans even more closer. His lips almost touching my cheek. I swear, the girls sitting behind us just gasped. "Look at me."
I look at him straight in the eyes without blinking. My lips almost almost touching his. Onyx eyes widened a little bit before composing himself and sends me a smirk while staring at my lips. I can sense that his breathing started to change. "What do you want?"
"...immense power - Halsey and Onyx can you both stop staring at each other? We all know that you two are in love but please do that outside my class." Professor Gilbert said, pointing his marker at us with a grin etched on his face.
My eyes widened and leaned back while Onyx did not even budge on his position. I sent him a side glance and he winks before looking back in front like nothing happened.
"We are certainly not in love, Professor Gilbert." I stated while Onyx snickers next to me.
Will I be in trouble if I accidentally wring the princes' neck and accidentally break it?
Professor Gilbert smiles and shakes his head and I swear I heard him say 'Young love.'
" As you all know before we were rudely interrupted by two denial love birds..." My eyes widened even more when the class starts to laugh while Onyx smirks at me. "There are four elements; earth, water, wind and fire. Each elements are powerful and destructive that is why all of the gifted as we all like to call them elementals, tried their best to control the elements given to them by the moon goddess."
Professor Gilbert continues, "Fire is controlled by lycans, Earth by warlocks, water by humans and wind by vampires."
Hera, one of our peers asks. "Why is there no werewolf, sir?"
Clasping his hands together. "There is one."
"No there isn't." Flynn answered, staring directly at the board with a frown on his face. "You mentioned all the elements and who controls them already."
Professor Gilbert nods. "I know."
"Then where is the werewolf?" Flynn asks again.
I can feel Onyx's eyes on me before I hear him say, "The werewolf elemental. A single wolf that possess all of the powers of the elements and the powers of the one who controls them."
Professor Gilbert claps his hands repeatedly while the whole class went silent. "How did you know that, Onyx?"
"That was -"
"It was our favorite story when we were younger." I said, earning a smile from the man in front of us.
"Correction, it's our favorite story. Up to this day." Onyx said, stealing a glance at me.
"You have a very good story teller then. Okay class! Onyx is correct. There is one werewolf elemental. One powerful being that you want to be friends with rather than a foe. He is -"
I raised my hand, interrupting his sentence. "How would you know it's a he?"
"Because all of the elementals are male." Professor Gilbert walks towards us. "There is no evidence that -"
"What if it's a female?" Onyx stated, "You said it yourself, sir. No evidence. No one has ever seen an elemental before. You can't prove anything base on a piece of paper without actual proof that they exist. We don't even know -"
"I met an elemental before - a fire elemental. I was just a teenager when I stumbled into the dark forest." Gasps were heard at the mention of the dark forest. "It was different back then. The forest was a safe place -a beautiful place - and I got lost. It was getting dark and I was scared when someone emerges from the darkness. The first thing I notice was his eyes - bright red. He just stood there, watching me before he turns around and points ahead. That's when I saw, a path lighted with flames on each side that leads back to the kingdom and when I look back, he was already gone."
Once the story was finished, all of us sat there with our mouths wide open.
"Class dismissed."
