Chapter1
In front of a two-storey house, Amelia was standing as she touched her tummy.
Her eyes were fixated on that familiar house. She had been there a lot of times but she couldn’t understand why there was a sudden hesitation to enter. She was familiar in each and every corner of it because it was Jefferson Mcbride’s house.
Her heart was pounding so fast and the longer that she stayed in front of it, the more her feeling became so intense.
She was hoping that things would turn around if Jefferson would know her situation. A couple of days ago, the man wanted to put an end to their relationship.
She had no idea why. It was just today she had the courage to face him and tell him her situation.
Amelia took a deep breath as she began to take her steps going to the main door.
She never once thought that one day, she would be in that kind of situation.
Was she really doing that?
Amelia pushed the door open without knocking. She got inside and she found Jefferson in the kitchen. There were butterflies inside her stomach.
The aroma that was coming from the dish was making her hungry. Her eyes were just on him.
He was handsome.
Breathtakingly handsome.
She recalled the time that he was cooking for her but her eyebrows knitted together when she thought why Jefferson was cooking?
Was he cooking for another woman that soon?
She was about to take another step when Jefferson noticed her presence and turned around.
“What are you doing here, Amelia?” The man asked in an unfriendly tone. She was obviously not welcome anymore in that place.
“I,” she paused. Then, she swallowed a lump on her throat. “I am calling you and texting you but I haven’t gotten any response.”
Jefferson smirked as he looked at her sarcastically.
“Can’t you understand what I told you last time? On what part I wasn’t clear?”
“I perfectly understand what you said but I didn’t agree,” she said in a low voice. She felt that her cheek was burning hot.
“Huh? Do you think that matters for me? I said I do not want this relationship anymore, that’s it,” Jefferson said in a firm voice.
“But Jeff, you can’t do that.”
“And why? I can do that and no matter what you do, I already made up my mind. You mean nothing to me, Amelia. Don’t you have any shame? You really have the face to show up after what I said to you?” Jefferson exclaimed as he shook his head. His face was full of disbelief.
Amelia looked straight in his eyes. “I am pregnant,” Amelia said in a firm tone. She didn’t remove her eyes on Jefferon’s face. She was expecting that confession would change the atmosphere and Jefferson’s decision but everything didn’t turn on what she had expected.
“What are you talking about? Are you really that obsessed with me? You will say that you are pregnant because you are thinking that I will stay? Jeez, you better think again, lady. So, what if you are pregnant?” Jefferson said in a mocking tone.
“You are the father.”
Jefferson smirked. “Do you really think that I am going to believe you? b***h! There is no way that someone like you is going to be the mother of my child. Shame on you!”
Those words echoed in her head. Amelia couldn’t believe everything he said.
The next second, she felt her palm landed on Jefferson’s cheek.
Her whole body was shaking.
“H— How dare you say that to me? You know for a fact that I do not have any man in my life except for you!”
Jefferson looked at her sharply. “Really? Do you really want to play games with me? Do you think I do not know what you have done? Do you really think that since I am out of the country, working abroad, you can be with anyone you want? It was just three days, Amelia! Just three days since I left and you have been with my friend’s apartment. So tell me, you aren’t a b***h? You stayed with another guy for three days. What is this? What do you want me to think? Are you really that horny because I am away and you wanted to taste another c**k? Is mine still not enough for you?”
Amelia gritted her teeth.
She raised her hand and about to slap the man again but she felt someone caught her wrist before it landed again.
“Don’t you dare hit my boyfriend! Who are you, b***h? How dare you have a face to show after what you have done,” the woman said after she heavily swayed her hand.
Amelia’s heart was pounding so fast. Her lips twitched as she looked at both of them. She was accused of having an affair with someone else when it was him who already had a new woman in his life.
“b***h who? Aren’t you the b***h? God knows that he is my boyfriend,” she said, trying to get all the courage that she could get.
“Amelia, get lost! You still have the audacity to answer! Get out or do I need to call security? Never show yourself again to me. We already broke up. Everything about us has ended since the day I arrived from London.”
“I hope you get pregnant, b***h,” she mumbled as she looked at the woman on Jefferson’s side.
“And don’t worry, I am going to marry her if that happens.”
She was shocked. Amelia’s jaws were intense. It was all unbelievable.
She hoped that was just all a dream and soon she would wake up.
When she recovered, she looked at Jefferson with mocking eyes.
“Well, let’s see. Even if she gets pregnant, you will not be the father. You will never have another child. If that day comes, you can never take away my child even if you kneel down in front of me. Not over my dead body! There will never be a descendant of Mcbride except for my child, remember that!” She exclaimed.
She couldn’t imagine where she got all the strength to say all those words.
Her heart was pounding so fast.
She couldn’t believe how the turn of events happened.
Jefferson Mcbride was her long time boyfriend. They had been together since college. She couldn’t believe that the man would easily give up on her. She gave everything to the man including herself. She surrendered everything during their 23rd birthday.
Ironically, they have the same birthday.
She was the daughter of William and Diane Smith. Both of her parents died when she just graduated. Jefferson was already courting her that time.
She could still clearly remember that day. She was in her second year of college, Nathaniel Hawthorne, her best friend was Jefferson’s friend as well.
It was one of the reasons why they got close to each other.
Jefferson went to London for a business trip and while he was away, he thought of coming over to Nathaniel’s house. He called her and said that he was sick. They were both orphans and so they cared for each other very much.
He was the brother that she never had. Jefferson knew about it and she was surprised to get that reaction from him. How could he accuse her of that? How could he think that she was having an intimate relationship with Nathaniel?
Clarissa took a deep breath as she stepped out of Jefferson’s apartment. She went straight in her car.
Different kinds of emotions were rumbling inside her heart. She went to that place after she didn’t receive any response from the man. She thought with the news that she had, the man would change his decision and they would be together again. She hoped so much and that’s why she was hurting so bad after her encounter with the man.
She couldn’t believe that after all the years that they have been together, the man would give up on her. It was the time when she needed him the most. Not only her but also their child.
The man came back last Sunday and that very night he arrived, they met.
“Amelia, let’s end this,” those words struck her head. She could see how serious the man was.
It felt like there was a sharp knife that was buried inside her heart.
Clarissa didn’t know what to say. She was at a loss. Before she could even recover from the shock, Jefferson wasn’t in front of her anymore.
She left the restaurant with a heavy heart. She was trying to hold the tears that wanted to flow from her eyes.
And today, she found out that she was pregnant. She sent a message to Jefferson but just like before he broke up with her, he wasn’t responding at all. She tried to call him but he wasn’t answering the call so she decided to come to his place.
