Chapter 6 Cheat on You?

1107 Words
"Lulu, don't you know how attractive you are? Even I'm in love with you!" "Shut up," Lucia said, rolling her eyes. "Are we going in or not?" "Yes, of course." Susan was scared that Lucia would change her mind, so she dragged Lucia toward the club. As they walked, she said, "I'm so excited! I heard that this event is for elites today. There are doctors, lawyers, and top businessmen. Maybe I'll find my true love tonight…" "Susie, you work at a hospital. Shouldn't there be more than enough doctor choices? Why do have you to come to this shady event?" Sometimes, Lucia couldn't figure out how Susan's mind worked. Susan was a nurse. She had cute features and a bright personality. There was a long line of guys flirting with her, but she had her own standards. "I don't date at the workplace. Plus, the doctors in my hospital are either hot but don't like me, or like me but aren't hot. I can't lower myself for love. If I can't find the right person, I'd rather be a proud, single bitch." Susan's eyes shone with determination. Her words resonated with Lucia. Susan was right. How could she lower herself for love? But they were probably friends because they were so similar and stubborn. It was this stubbornness that led Lucia to love Mason for seven years and keep loving him, despite how he treated her now. While she was deep in her thoughts, they arrived at a large hall on the third floor and found the tables that belonged to the socializing event. There were 24 people in total, 12 men and 12 women. They took up four tables. After a short introduction, Lucia stayed silent for the entire night. She would only reply if someone asked her something. Susan was very active, on the other hand. She could quickly talk to anyone, and she also stopped some harassers for Lucia. Cold and warm, they stood in stark contrast with each other. They also had the figure and features that mesmerized the men, so practically all the attention was on them. The other women were so jealous. Lucia hid behind Susan and secretly observed the environment. All types of men and women were drinking and having fun, joking around. They seemed to enjoy this atmosphere, making her seem out of place. At the same club There was a private luxury room in the middle of the fifth floor, surrounded by one-way glass. They could see everything on the other floors, while the outsiders couldn't see into their room. This room was the private territory of the club's boss, Sean Lindon. He used it to host his good friends or important clients. "Reynolds, you're neglecting your wife right after the wedding. Aren't you worried she'll cheat on you?" Sean leaned his tall body against the side of the pool table. He had gentlemanly features and gold-rimmed glasses. Even his smile when he teased Mason was graceful. But people familiar with him knew he wasn't as kind and harmless as he looked. When he wanted to, he was nastier than anyone else. He was the definition of "don't just a book by its cover." "She wouldn't dare." Mason lounged on a black sofa and swirled the wine in his glass as he smirked arrogantly. "Lindon, you just had to air Mason's dirty laundry. He must have a reason to abandon his pretty wife at home alone." As Aaron spoke, he shot the black ball into the bag and tossed the cue stick onto the table. He glanced at Mason knowingly. "Right, bro?" Aaron Jones was Mason's cousin. At 26 years old, he was one year younger than Mason and Sean, but he had the ladies' man of the trio. He had alluring eyes. Paired with his handsome features, he was the poster child for playboys. "A reason?" Sean scoffed, and he continued teasing, "Maybe he's gay? Aaron, who do you think he likes? You or me?" "Definitely you," Aaron said, raising an eyebrow. "You're pretty." "f**k off." Sean threw the cue stick at Aaron. Aaron caught the stick easily and tossed it back onto the table. He walked to the glass wall and scanned the women on the other floors. Mason chuckled. He didn't respond to his friends' teasing. He was used to it. This was how friends were like. They would make fun of each other without mercy, but if any of them were in trouble, the other two would help without hesitation. "Reynolds, seriously, when will you let me meet your wife?" Sean walked over and sat across from Mason, resting his feet on the side of the table. "No need to meet her," Mason said, brushing off the question and rejecting his friend. At that moment, something caught Aaron's attention, and his lips curled into a strange smirk. Mason and Sean thought that he saw someone attractive. "Bro, guess who I saw?" Aaron turned around and gave a devilish smile. "Who?" Mason wasn't too interested. "Your wife." When he said that, Mason and Sean both followed the direction of Aaron's eyes. Indeed, they saw that Lucia was surrounded by some men. Mason's dark eyes flashed with anger. He'd been confident that Lucia wouldn't cheat on him, but he was proved wrong so quickly. It seemed that he had underestimated this woman! He looked away and drank all his wine in one gulp. For some reason, he felt something weird in his heart. Seeing Lucia surrounded by men made him feel like he'd gotten robbed. He felt annoyed and pissed off! Aaron cackled. "How does it feel?" Mason's sharp glare made him wipe away his smile, and he pretended to zip up his mouth. "Coward!" Sean rolled his eyes. Then he turned towards Mason with the excitement of someone watching a good show. "Reynolds, your wife is popular with the men. Seems like you got some competition!" Mason sneered. "Those guys aren't even qualified to compete with me," he said smugly. It would be laughable to treat those men as his competition for a woman he didn't even love! "Since we're all here, why don't you call her up for a drink?" Sean continued. "No," Mason snapped. "Bro, are you… jealous?" Aaron couldn't help but ask. "Are you stupid?" Jealous? What a joke! Why would he be jealous? Sean chuckled and snapped his fingers at the server outside the door. "Mr. Lindon." The server walked respectfully before Sean. "Go and find out the situation with table eight on the third floor," Sean ordered. Mason tried to act disinterested, but Sean could tell he was worried!
