The BBQ

Mackenzie and I were finally on our way back to the pack house. Our nails looked amazing, Mackenzie went with a bright red nail polish and I chose a darker purple one. On the ride home, I started to ask Mackenzie about the things that some of the younger people in the pack do for fun. She told me how every Saturday evening the teenagers between the ages of 15-19 have a bbq and movie night, and every Sunday they played a football game. This sounded like a lot of fun, and I asked her about who I would need to talk to about joining the game. She told me how Beta Matthew’s younger brother, Jared, was in charge of the teams. She said that she would introduce me after we got back.

The rest of the ride was uneventful. I went straight to my room to unpack all of the new clothes that we had just purchased. I was going to meet up with Mackenzie in about thirty minutes to go to the clearing where the teenagers hangout on the weekends to watch movies on a big screen with a projector. I went ahead and changed into a new outfit that I just got for the movie night. I put on a cute green T-shirt with a flower design on the front, and blue jeans. I was excited to go watch a movie. I haven’t really watched any movies since my pack was attacked.

Every pack member between the age of 15-19 were on the field mingling and enjoying the bbq. I didn’t see Mackenzie at first, so I went ahead and started to put together a plate of food. Once I was done eating, I started to walk around and talk to people and introduce myself. I did my best to remember everyone’s names, but I doubt that I will remember very many of their names. I have always been better at recognizing faces over names. Mackenzie finally found me in the crowd and gave me a giant hug. She immediately started introducing me to more people that I won’t remember their names. She introduced me to Jared, Beta Matthew’s younger brother. He told me to come by after lunch tomorrow, and he would talk to the teams to see if they were ok with me playing.

We chatted with various pack members until it got dark. Once it was dark, people started to take a seat on the grass in front of the screen that was set up. The movie “Home Alone”, why someone chose a Christmas Themed movie in the middle of August I will never understand, but I wasn’t complaining. I have seen this movie before, but it has been a really long time. There is just something comical about a young boy setting up a house full of traps to fight back against a couple of burglars.
