As we were getting out of the water and shaking our fur dry, Alpha Malachi froze. His eyes had glazed over, and it looked like he was communicating with someone else through a mind link. I watched him puzzled for a short period of time. After a minute or so, he looked at me and told me through the mind link, “Beta Matthew says that a few rogues have been spotted not far from here. Do you feel up to joining me to go check it out?”
“I don’t mind. Let’s go.” I replied. I would be lying if it didn’t make me nervous meeting up with some rogues. My mind automatically flashed back to the night last week. I shook my head to clear my thoughts and followed Alpha Malachi to where the rogues were. As we approached Alpha Malachi glanced at me and said, “Let me know if you recognize any of these rogues.” I nodded my head in understanding.
There were two rogues in wolf form standing in front of two warriors. I told Alpha Malachi, “I don’t recognize them in their wolf forms, I would have to see their human faces to know if I them for sure or not.” Alpha Malachi instantly shifted into human form and commanded that the rogues shift. They did as the Alpha said. I did my best to only look at their faces, because the three of them were all standing there naked. Alpha Malachi glanced towards me, “How about now?” he asked. I shook my head no. These rogues were not familiar.
Alpha Malachi turned to face the rogues, and I looked towards the ground trying to avoid looking at their naked bodies. “You had better have a good explanation for entering my pack territory. Who are you and what are you doing here?” asked Alpha Malachi in a stern voice. The shorter of the two spoke up in a squeaky and nervous voice, “Sir, please excuse the intrusion. We mean no harm to you or your pack. We were following a lead on a stray rogue that we have been tracking. You wouldn’t have happened to come across a 17-year-old girl last week? She would have been alone.”
I gulped, I felt a knot start to form at the pit of my stomach. “What would you want with a stray 17-year-old girl?” growled Alpha Malachi. I knew that he knew they were talking about me. “To be completely honest Alpha, we were hired by someone to track her down and to bring her to him. We do not know why he wants the girl, or what his intentions are. All I know is that she is pretty important to him, because he has offered a rather large sum to any rogue that brings her to him.” said the rogue.
Shit, there is some random guy that wants me to be captured and brought to him. I don’t even want to think about why he would want me. “Who is this person that put a price on this girl’s head?” asked the Alpha. “We have never met him directly before, Alpha. He has posted these wanted posters all over the Silver Moon Pack’s previous territory. I think that the girl was somehow connected to the Silver Moon Pack.” The rogue pulled out a flyer and handed it to Alpha Malachi. He looked it over and growled. “I find the fact that someone would hunt down another wolf deplorable. Not to mention a 17-year-old girl that travels alone. Pass the following message along to any other rogues you come across looking for this girl: You will find no rogue teenage girls in this pack, and if any more wolves come looking for this girl in our pack, they will be thrown into our dungeons and tortured.” The two rogues in front of us tensed up at these words. “I will be generous with you guys this time, as long as you turn around and never come back to this pack. “Yes Alpha, thank you.” said the rogue. Alpha Malachi looked at the rogues and whispered harshly, “Go, now.”
He turned to look at me. I asked him nervously, “What does the flyer say?” He held it up for me to look at. I nearly fainted when I looked at the flyer. It had a picture of me when I was about 12, and a description of what areas I tended to roam around. The flyer said, “Reward to the wolf or wolves that bring this girl to the Silver Moon Pack. She is 17 now, so she will not look exactly as pictured. $100,000.” I layed down, and said, “Who the hell would be looking for me? What could they possibly want with me?”
“I don’t know, but we will find out. I promise.” said Alpha Malachi. He turned to one of the warriors next to him and held out the flyer. “Take this flyer to Beta Matthew, tell him that I want to know as much as possible about who is behind the flyer as soon as possible.” The warrior gently took the flyer in his mouth and took off towards the pack house. “You may return to your normal rotation.” He said to the other warrior. The warrior bowed his head and walked off. Alpha Malachi shifted back to his wolf form and said, “Come on Allison, let’s not let this worry you too much. Let’s head back home.”
I was still in shock, but I shook my head and followed Alpha Malachi. He told the rogues that there was no rogue girl here. Does this mean that he plans on fully accepting me into the pack on the full-Moon next week? I hope so. I hope that I can call this pack my home.
