“Fahlynn, God answer your stupid phone,” Shalimar yelled at him. “Hello,” Fahlynn groaned in a low raspy voice. “Fah, meet me at the field in half an hour,” Lotus said in a rushed breath. Fahlynn rolled over and looked at his clock. “It’s four in the morning we can play after classes,” he groaned. “It’s really important, so you’re meeting me now get up,” Lotus yelled then hung up the phone. Fahlynn hung up and sighed angrily. He quickly throw on some sweats and a hoodie. When he got to the field he surprised himself. He had no idea he could be so angry. “Where the hell is Lotus?” he yelled. “I just really need to talk to you,” Sapphire said setting down on the damp grass. She could feel anger pouring off of him. She could taste it, smell it, just fully experience his anger with all of her senses. It amazed her that he could feel that much anger and have that kind of control over it. “Please don’t be mad at Lotus she was just trying to help me.” “What do you want?” he asked with a slightly softer tone. He set on top of the ball he brought and waited for Sapphire to say something. She moved closer to him. “I have two slight problems that could affect my playing sky soccer with you guys,” she said trying to make light of the situation, but of course he knew she was lying. “And I was the only one that could help you and it couldn’t wait for a descent hour,” he growled at her. “Wow someone really isn’t a morning person. I don’t know a vamp this irritated by the sun. Is there something I should know?” she asked with a insinuating smile. “Don’t do that,” Fahlynn said in a soft but stern voice. He was definitely a “speak softly and carry a big stick” kind of guy. “Sorry,” she smiled at him and he could feel himself becoming too comfortable with her. “What are your two problems?” he asked ready to leave and put as much distance between them as possible. She licked her lips and looked down at the soft dew covered grass. “I’m afraid of heights,” she whispered and he laughed. “Stop missing with me or I’m leaving,” he yelled at her, but she cut her eyes at him and he knew it was the truth. “I’m not playing with you,” she sighed, “Gran never liked me projecting or flying so she would tell me all these freaky stories about people getting killed and maimed because they fell or something. Then one day I fell and broke my leg in three places. I haven’t tried anything like that since.” “I’ll practice with you every day on my free period starting next week,” he said as he got up and grabbed his ball. “Wait,” she said getting up. “I haven’t told you my other problem.” “Let me guess you’re allergic to sweat, no wait you’re afraid of uniforms and cheering crowds,” he said laughing lightly. “No,” she said mad at him for making fun of her. “C’mon I’m just trying to make you smile. I didn’t mean to hurt your feeling,” he said rubbing her cheek making her smile for a second. Then a nudge of regret ripped her away from the heat he created within her. “Don’t worry about it,” she sighed and backed out of his gentle hand, “I just wanna know if it’s okay if I go out with Xavier?” Fahlynn’s smile slowly disappeared and he seemed lost in thought for a moment. “Why are you asking me?” “Lotus told me I had to ask your permission because of some rule”- “It’s okay, but Xavier’s”- “Trouble, but I can handle myself and him,” she smiled. “A lot of girls believe they can change him,” he said inching closer to her. “My mom spent her whole life trying to change my father. I know you always lose in a situation like that.” She smiled at him, “‘Sides what kindda girlfriend would I be if I tried to change him. It would just be easier to find someone else,” she said tracing the side of his face with her index finger. He loved how her skin felt against his and how easy it was to talk with her. He couldn’t figure out why all he wanted to do was stay here with her. He enjoyed discovering the inner most workings of her mind. He felt like an archeologist discovering an ancient city and each level he uncovered a new mystery unfolded. Her depth astonished him. “Are you truly okay with it? I heard you and Xavier aren’t the best of friends,” she smiled. He inched closer to her and ran his hands through hair thick, blue, and black hair. “He treated Lotus really bad when they went out, and he’s bad news. On the other hand, it doesn’t really matter. It’s not like I have some kind of claim to you or anything,” he said giving her a sexy smirk that made her knees temporarily go weak. “You could if you wanna,” she said as his lips came down on hers. He loved how soft her lips were and how wonderful it felt to have their tongues dancing together. It was like every cell in his body was filled with her presence. All that occurred to him was how good something so wrong felt. This is better than kissing Leah. Then his heart stopped. Leah. He quickly pulled away. “No,” she order and he found himself giving into her. Fahlynn had to dig deep inside himself to find a good enough reason to pull away and stay away. “Please,” she begged as their lips slowly parted. “This isn’t the right move for either of us. Xavier wouldn’t approve at all,” Fahlynn said with a sad chuckle. “Fahlynn I…” Sapphire let her thought trail off feeling now wasn’t the appropriate time to tell him she was in love. A part of her knew he felt it too. This was confirmed, as she slowly scaled his face and locked eyes with him. It was written in desire and longing. He was in love with her. “I’ll just see you around okay,” he said and walked back to his apartment. She sat in the grass and closed her eyes. The fact that this was really happening was so surreal to her. All her life she heard about how this boy would change everything for her. And it begin with a kiss.
