Sapphire
“Hey, you’re my sister’s roommate right?” Toby asked Sapphire as he was coming out of the arts hall.
“Oh, yeah you’re Toby right. She didn’t tell me you played the violin,” Sapphire said looking at the case he was carrying.
“Yeah, I play a little. I heard you’re joining our soccer team. It’s going to be really cool. I’m new to the team too but I play with them all the time. Sky soccer is the best,” he said and Sapphire’s heart stopped.
“Did you say sky soccer as in 80 feet off the ground soccer?” she asked not believing what he just said.
“Yeah, didn’t you know that?” he asked.
“Yeah, I just wasn’t too sure if it was or not but I am now. Do you happen to know where Lotus is?” she asked him trying to sound calm.
“I’m pretty sure she’s in the library near the charm building she should just be getting out of her charms lecture right now,” he said going off with a girl.
“Thanks so much,” Sapphire said running off to the library when she got their Lotus was just sitting down to do her homework. “Oh thank God Lotus,” she said feeling like the room was closing in on her. “Why didn’t you tell me I agreed to play sky soccer with you what do you think this is Hogwarts, that’s so stupid.”
“Um, hi Sapphire how are you doing?” Lotus said opening her textbook.
“I can’t play with you guys,” she said.
“Why what’s wrong?” Lotus asked listening to her now.
“I’m horribly afraid of height and being 80 feet in the air is the dumbest idea anyone could come up with. Soccer’s fun all on its own why add danger too it,” she said in one breath.
“You’re messing with me aren’t you?” Lotus said noticing the panic in Sapphire’s voice.
“No, no I’m not why didn’t you tell me it was sky soccer I thought it was regular on the ground soccer the safe kind,” she said about to hyperventilate.
“Calm down I thought you knew it was sky soccer come on let’s go back to the room,” Lotus said helping Sapphire stand up straight.
They made it to the room and were sitting at the table. “I’m sure the guys will understand if you don’t feel comfortable on the team you don’t have to lie,” Lotus said still not believing Sapphire was that afraid to be a few feet off the ground.
“Um, I’m not playing around I’m serious,” she wined.
“Look we’ll train you on the ground for a while and get you more comfortable in the air, no big deal…now,” Lotus frowned.
“Now, what do you mean now,” Sapphire said not liking the frown that followed that last statement.
“Well, Fahlynn’s not going to want to train you at least, not, at first.”
“I’ll just ask Xavier for help,” she shrugged.
“You can’t do that and you have to stop seeing him.”
“Why,” she moaned.
“Because you don’t like him and it’s a rule. We can’t date people on the other teams.”
“Why can’t I just hang out with him why can’t we just be friends,” she said and Lotus just blankly stared at her for a second.
“I can’t believe you like Xavier Howe. His dad is ambassador of evil. Once he meets you the two of you will be over so fast your head will spin,” Lotus said with a sarcastic laugh.
“Lotus I’m sure his dad isn’t that bad, and if he is it wouldn’t matter because I’m going to wand up with Fahlynn anyway,” she smiled.
“You can’t just think you can go out with Xavier and leave him for Fahlynn. They’ve hated each other since birth there’s no way that’s going to happen without an epic war,” Lotus laughed.
“Lo, you’re not being fair,” she sighed.
“Sapp, you’re not thinking clearly,” she huffed.
“But Fahlynn is such a…a…I dunno but it’s annoying,” she moaned again.
“Let’s just deal with getting you ready for soccer and handle everything else later,” Lotus said.
Fahlynn
Fahlynn walked through the bushes quietly and made sure not to step on any twigs as he slowly approached Sapphire. The goddess moon shined her light down on Sapphire well. The way her skin shimmered in the moonlight intoxicated him. This was the time of day were she was at her most beautiful and strongest after all. Fahlynn swallowed and tried to focus on why he was there. He knew he had to be careful with how he approached her or he’d scare her off again. He couldn’t believe what he said to her, and he knew he had no right to say it, but he didn’t fully regret it. I still love her; he thought when he was a heartbeat away.
“I can hear your thoughts,” she whispered when he was close enough to hear.
“Forgot about that,” he said sitting in front of her.
“You just killed a helpless lily,” she groaned.
He set up and plucks the crushed, white, lily. “I’m sure about that,” he whispered to the flower creating a pot with soil in it. “I’ll make it up to you promise,” he said making a hole with his pinky finger and putting the plant in it. He said a spell and the flower was happy and healthy once again.
“Why are you here?” she asked taking the flower pot from him.
“Everyone thinks you’re out here because of me and they want me to bring you back,” he said trying to sound like he didn’t care she was gone.
“I told you to tell them I’m okay,” she sighed.
“That doesn’t make them miss you any less and we both know something happened the other day,” he said angry she wouldn’t tell him what happened to her.
“I don’t belong at East Falls and I’ve ruined all of your lives I know you can see that,” she said with a sad tone to her voice.
“I know, but Lotus is worried about you and Jessi’s sending me death threats so you’re coming back now.”
