Chapter VIII

Fahlynn set under the huge weeping willow that over looked the quad. Down the hill on the soccer field he could see Sapphire and Xavier giggling and flirting. Fahlynn wanted to tell Xavier, he tasted the sweet ambrosia that was Sapphire’s lips. He wanted to rip them apart. How could she do this to me? He questioned in his mind. However, he knew there was only one person to blame for how he was feeling, himself. If he had insisted she not go out with Xavier this wouldn’t be happening. “Do you realize that could have been you kissing her right now?” Lotus said as she sat next to Fahlynn and watched Xavier and Sapphire. They were trying to finish a game of soccer without frenching each other. “She deserves to be with him, it’s what she wants,” he flatly said. “If you focus how uncomfortable you are right now you can transmit it to her and she’ll stop,” Lotus said ignoring the fact that Fahlynn wanted to pretend like he didn’t care. “Only vampires can freely manipulate emotions,” he said wishing it was possible. “You can do it just try. Imagine you’re focusing energy into a spell,” she said watching him try it. Fahlynn breathed in and tried to summon all his jealousy, guilt, and anger. He gathered it in his hands and flung it at Sapphire and when he opened his eyes she was bent over on her knees. “What happened to her,” he yelled at Lotus getting up to rush down to the field but she grabbed him. “She’s fine just give her a second. I didn’t mean for you to throw everything you had at her, you nut,” Lotus said with a smile. Sapphire looked up at Fahlynn and he could see tears welled in her eyes. A gust of wind gently caressed his face and softly he heard her voice whisper I’m sorry. Xavier rushed over to her side. “How the hell did that just happen?” He asked Lotus. “You’re in love with her and you kissed her when you know that’s how the final part of the cupido spell is done. We’ve only been here two weeks and you kiss the girl,” she said and laughed lightly. “I don’t want to be with her. I’m happy with Leah, so stop trying to fix us up,” he said looking into her eyes trying to be honest. “So it’s Leah holding you back,” she said. Lotus had somehow forgotten all about Leahnna and how much she meant to Fahlynn. Leah has always been there for Fahlynn. Heck they were planning to get married after school. Leah was her best friend and losing Fahlynn would be the worst thing she’d ever go through. And I’m helping it happen. Lotus thought to herself then she looked over at Fahlynn who was watching Sapphire. She could see that he wanted to be the one comforting her. I’m doing the right thing. She was sure of it. “I just can’t be with Sapphire it wouldn’t work,” he whispered. “I know you love Leah believe me I get it. She help you deal with losing your parents, but you’re in love with Sapphire. The way you look at her is criminal,” She said with a soft smile in her big brown eyes. “I can’t bear to hurt Leah,” he yelled at Lotus ready for her to take a hint and back off. “You have no idea of how much you’re hurting Sappy and yourself, Fah,” she yelled back at him. Fahlynn just shook it off and Lotus grew annoyed. If only reason could penetrate his thick skull. “You don’t understand what you’ve done. You’ll never stop feeling like this. You can’t be with Leah if you love Sappy.” “This isn’t your life you’re missing with. I’ll deal with it my way, so let this go,” he said grabbing his stuff and leaving. Sapphire “Your boyfriend’s finally done watching us for the day,” Xavier said looking over at Fahlynn and Lotus. Fahlynn had grabbed all his stuff and rushed off. Sapphire had a feeling it had something to do with her. “He looks upset,” she said starring at Lotus who just shook her head. Yep, it’s about me. “Don’t worry about it Qing-Ting is always like that around me,” he shrugged. Xavier tried to pretend that made him upset, but he really could care less what Fahlynn thought of him. If it was up to Xavier Fahlynn would be a crazy, paranoid, jealousy rack. “Why is that?” she asked. “You remember I told you our fathers are old friends?” he asked giving her water from his backpack. “Yeah,” she whispered even though she had forgotten. “He found out my dad helped yours and…Well, he doesn’t understand,” he said and the look in his eyes scared her.
