chapter8~ shopping

octaviea's pov

after we got done eating breakfast we all went our seperate ways. jessica said the boys had a meeting, so that's where I figured that they went to, while Jessica and I headed to the mall. it wasn't too far from the pack house just a couple miles, so we didn't drive there. it was a peaceful sunny day out with the birds singing and the breeze gently carresing us. people were out doing their own thing. Some looked our way, giving me either curious looks or one full of distain. I didn't take it to heart though, nobody here knew who I was I have to prove my worth to them.

on our way to the mall, we passed a park where pups and their families were all playing. most were laughing and having fun while few stayed off to the side studing for class. I felt a pang in my heart knowing that I didn't get to do this a lot with my family. being alphas, they were always dealing with something. They did try and take us out when they could, but we didn't go to the park a lot.

my wolf whined in my head, showing she was sad about it as well. she missed our family as much as I did. maybe even more so since she only got to spend a year with them before trey killed them all. we vowed to ourselves when we were younger that we would always take our kids out to have fun and make many memories in case anything ever happened to us we wanted our kids to remember happy memories when they grow up.

I looked away from the park, not being able to cope with the sadness that welled up inside. I gently rubbed my chest over my heart to try and ease the pain. Jessica must have noticed it because she gave me a look of concern.

"You okay, hunny? if you're not up to it, we can just go back to my place and hang out until the men are done. "

"no no it's okay, it has nothing to do with going shopping, I'm actually looking forward to going shopping. I haven't been shopping in a really long time."

"Oh, well, what's wrong, hunny? you look like you're in pain."

" I was just watching the other families playing at the park, and it reminded me of my family. we didn't go to the park a lot growing up, and now their not even here.. I just wish we could have done more before they were killed.. I miss them.."

"Oh sweetheart, I'm so sorry about your parents. it must have been hard for you. listen, I know we may not be blood related, but I promise you were family too. next girls night well go to the park or go for a run in the forest. I know it's not the same, but I'm here for you."

I felt myself tear up a bit. Jessica is treating me so well, and I don't know how to respond to that. I would love to have another family and one day have pups of my own.

"Thank you so much Jessica you don't know how much that means to me. I would love to be a part of your family."

"Of course hun. we'd love to have you be a part of the family."

by the time we were done talking and reminsing about family, we arrived at the mall. Jessica grabbed my hand and quickly pulled me inside towards the nearest clothing store.

we browsed around the store for a bit, picking out a few pieces of clothing before going to the next store. I honestly forgot how exhausting shopping is, but I was also having so much fun. I made sure not to get a lot of things, seeing that I was using alex's card and didn't want to spend too much of his money. I don't even know how much is on it because he never told me.

when we were about done, we stopped at one more clothing store. it was a beautiful store full of well-made dresses and tailored suites. when we first walked in, my eyes caught this beautiful lilac purple dress. it was kinda lacy at the top with a corset type top with a beautiful flowy bottom part. It had mini diamonds imbedded into the lace, and it was just so beautiful. that was the dress I wanted for my ceremony when I joined the pack.

"You like that dress, don't you?"

"Yes, I do. It's beautiful."

Just then, Leyla walked in with one of her friends. I knew from the get-go that this wasn't going to be a good time. when she spotted me, she sneered, walking over to us.

"looked who it is, the lone wolf who's trying to take my man."

I felt my wolf surfice but quickly held her back. I wasn't about to lose my temper because someone was jealous of me. I had better things to do than sit here and argue with her, but I also wouldn't stand by as she proclaimed my mate to be hers

"i'm not taking anything that isn't rightfully mine. it's not my fault that you and the coucile forced something on him, knowing that he had a mate out there. now if you would mind leaving me alone so I can shop in peace."

I heard Jessica splutter behind me. I have't yet told her that Alex was my mate, I planned on telling her later, but I guess that's happening now.

I watched leyla's face turn red from anger, but I really couldn't care less about what she had to say. I'm here with Jessica to buy dresses for my ceremony for the end of the month.

I walked away from Layla, Jessica, following me with a look that says,'You better tell me the details later'.I grabbed the dress of the rack and made my way to the counter to pay for it. right before I made it to the counter, Leyla snatched the dress out of my hands.

"I came here for this dress. I'm buying it, get lost."

I felt a wave of anger crash over me. how dare she just rip the dress out of my hands.

"I had it first. Give it back to me."

"Oh yeah, and what are you going to do about it?"

before I could respond, Jessica stepped in.

"Give the dress back, or I'll tell alex what you're doing. you know he won't be happy with the way you're treating his mate."

leyla sneered at her. I could tell she thought Jessica was lower than her because she is the beta's mate.

"Don't talk to me like that. I am your Luna."

"Not my rightful one. octavia is the rightful luna. and I just told Alex what you're doing he'll be here shortly."

Leyla seemed to freeze hearing that. she, however, still didn't give up. she took the dress and went up to the desk.

"hi yes I would like to buy this dress."

before the shopkeeper could say anything, I butted into the conversation. I wanted this dress, and i'd be d***d if I would let her snatch it away from me.

"ma'am I had this dress first, she took it away from me."

"I did not, I was here first."

before I could reply, I felt sparks shoot through my entire body. alex is here, and by the way the room fell silent, I knew he wasn't happy. he walked over to us in long stides, reaching us quickly. he stood next to me, looking at Leyla with distain.

"Leyla, give her the dress back."

"But I had it first,"

"No, you didn't. stop lying and stop being mean to Octavia. now give her the dress back."

I could see leyla fuming with rage. she was mad because Alex was sticking up for me and not her.

"I am the Luna of this pack, and I want this dress."

"I don't care. I am the alpha of this pack, and you will listen to me. I'm not gonna stand you being mean to my mate because you're scared of losing the Luna title. now give the dress back."

if it were possible, she looked even more p****d off than before. she also looked horrified. Alex just proclaimed me to be his mate in front of a whole bunch of people. now everyone knew that I was his mate and she wasn't

she threw the dress at me and quickly left the store. I knew this wasn't the end of things, but at least I got my dress back. I quickly paid for the dress, and we left.
