Alyssa's POV
I woke up in a fright.
Jolting awake, I instinctively reached out for Mister Meow but I couldn't feel him. I felt something across my face, a blindfold? Why would I be blindfolded?
The worst immediately came to mind. I was going to die. Maybe used in a satanic ritual? Who were these people? What were they?
I thought for a moment about what I knew.
I knew I had dropped Mister Meows's carrier. I knew that the handsome stranger from the diner had broken into my house. I knew that I was blindfolded and in the car.
I could feel the bumps and swerves.
"You're awake," he whispered into my ear. I let out a small and quiet whimper. "No need to be afraid. I won't let anybody touch you"
"Please let me go," I begged. "Please, my cat is going to die without me. I have to go to work tomorrow! My rent is due!"
I felt him brush his fingertips against my own fingers as he leant in closer.
"I wouldn't worry about work and rent anymore. You won't need to worry about it anymore."
"And my cat?" I asked.
"Safe and sound," he said in my ear again. He put emphasis on every single word. "You'll see him when we get to where we are going."
Suddenly, I was blinded by light when someone took off my blindfold. I was seething, how could he just take me? This was a kidnapping! I thought back to Connie at the diner, she would be wondering where I was. I couldn't fathom where my things were going to go. I was going to lose everything I had worked for, with my own sweat, blood and tears since I was fifteen. Now, at twenty-five, I wasn't going to let this fucker come in and ruin everything for me.
I could feel his body pressed up against me. Turning my head to look at him, I noticed that it was daytime but he looked the same as he did when he was at the diner and my apartment. He was still attractive but...what was I thinking? No. I would not let Stockholm syndrome take over me. I've watched true crimes. I know what happens to women that allow their walls to break down. I would not allow this to happen to me.
I looked out of the car windows and tried to find an escape route. It seemed like we were driving through some sort of forested area. There was no sign of any sort of escape. I could try and open a door and make a run for it...I looked to the other side of myself and saw a different guy beside me. I was wedged between the two, but the car was spacious enough that it didn't feel like I was claustrophobic. The guy on the right of me was trying with all his might not to touch me. He was pressed against the car door like the other guy would rip his head off if he even touched me a little.
I heard a chuckle from the dark, mysterious stranger.
"It's OK," he said, breathing down my neck. I turned to face him and pushed him away. He seemed suprised that I would fight back. "We won't hurt you."
"Doubtful," I replied stoicly.
He seemed amused by me, pursing his lips and c*****g his head slightly. I, on the other hand, was not amused at all by this turn of events.
"It's not my wish to hurt you," he said, correcting his previous statement.
"But you will?"
"Not if I can help it," he said finally. He sighed and reached out to touch my hand. I pulled away instantly. I had no interest in becoming another toy to him. "Please just hear me out."
"I want to go home."
"That was not a home."
"It was my home," I said, raising my voice. I noticed a third man driving the car. In the review mirror I could see him raise his eyebrows. Who are these guys? Mobsters?
"You were going to lose that home," he said, chuckling. "It seems like you work hard but still rent is difficult."
"I couldn't afford higher education." I looked down ashamedly, I didn't like people knowing that. I felt his fingers touch my chin as they pulled my eyes up to meet his own.
"It wont be a problem ever again," he said charmingly. This whole don't get attracted thing was going to be harder than I had realised. "I called the diner and let them know you had been offered a better job in the city. Your things are packed away in a storage container and the cat is with us. It doesn't seem like there's much left to wrap up."
"Except that you took me against my will," I muttered, under my breath.
I heard him chuckle again, but he didn't dare say anything further. For whatever reason, he decided that the conversation was over. I can't recall any memories after I had almost gotten to the car. Looking up at him once again, I noticed that he was looking out the window. I wondered what was going through his head. He seemed kind enough, but looks could be deceiving. The three men kept their heads turned away from me, I huffed, crossed my arms and sunk into my seat. I didn't like this one bit.
In what seemed like hours later, the car slowed down and stopped before a large gate. There were guards patrolling around the fence line and the gate. The driver wound down their window and whispered something that I couldn't quite make out. The guard nodded and waved them in, the large wrought iron gates opened and the car drove forward. The trees seemed to thin out and I could see gardens start to appear. Large grassy areas with people sitting around, I saw one woman laughing at something someone had said. They seemed at ease here, people were tossing around footballs and running laps. Everyone seemed so fit and toned, just like the two beside me.
The car drove up a winding road and before me was a huge castle. It was at least three stories tall, it had turrets and everything. Just like something out of a fairytale book. I couldn't stop my mouth from dropping open and I heard chuckles from everyone else in the car. How could they afford something like that?
The car pulled up to the front steps and the driver got out, he went around to the door and opened it for the man next to me. He grabbed my hand and half pulled me out of the car. I was powerless against him, I was just pulled around like a ragdoll.
"Welcome home," he said, chuckling.
He pulled me up the stairs and into the front doors. Everyone just stopped, they moved to the sides of the corridor, bowing their heads to the man in front of me. But i saw a few raising them at me and peering at me curiously. I guess I was a bit of a shock to these people. There were rows of rooms with perfectly clean and polished furniture and flooring, large red curtains were tied back. We reached a grand staircase and he attempted to pull me up that as well. I snatched my arm away from him.
"No," I yelled. "I'm not going up there. I want to go home."
I could hear some whispers and murmurs.
"Don't do this here," he hissed at me.
I shook my head. "I am not a doll that you can just fling around at your whim."
His eyes darkened but there was a hint of a smile behind his mouth. Before I knew what was happening, he threw me over his shoulder and continued up the stairs. I looked towards the people who were still standing there. None of them made a move to help me or say anything.
"Put me down!" I commanded.
"No," he said, chuckling.
The castle seemed to be a maze. It was confusing how many doors there were and where they all led too. With his one hand free, he opened a door and kicked it shut behind him. He threw me down on the bed and grinned down at me. I scrambled to press my back against the headboard and took in my surroundings. The room was a deep red colour, there was a four-post bed against the wall with two bedside tables next to it. There was the door we came in through and another door on the other side of the room. A large window was partially covered by deep red curtains. It was a simple room but beautiful and it looked very expensive. The blankets under me felt soft, the softest I have ever felt. I turned my attention back towards him...the man who apparently made it his mission to ruin my life. He knelt on the edge of the bed and peered closer at me. Fight or flight kicked in and I started hurling cushions and pillows towards him in defense.
"Ow," he said mockingly. "C'mon beautiful that doesn't hurt."
He reached out towards me. "Don't f*****g touch me."
He looked taken aback before clearing his throat and leaning away from me. "What can I do?"
"You can let me go." We eyed each other for a moment, amusement lingered across his face. "Please, just let me go."
"Im afraid I can't do that," he said, sighing.
"Why not?"
"Because Alyssa," he started to say. He smoothed his hair out of his face and sighed. "You're my mate."
