{Angelo’s POV} [This chapter contains themes of assault, violence, and death. Reader discretion is advised.] I watched as Margo led away Maisie, they began speaking softly, but I overheard some of words they were saying. “About not being able to walk.. Maisie.. did something like that happen to you?” Margo asked. Maisie nodded. “When he found out I was pregnant.. he beat me so severely.. both of my legs were broken, my spine had some nerve damage. I was in a wheelchair for months.” She sighed, gripping her chest. “It was hard on my mental state.. and I had a hard time coping with the loss of my baby, along with the loss of my legs. I felt like I lost all of my joy, and what little freedom I did have.” Margo pulled Maisie into a soft hug then I saw Maisie’s beautiful green eyes look over to me. She gave me a soft smile, reassuring me that she was okay, I nodded, turning back to my brothers and my father. “Okay, Maisie said she’d help with his recovery as well, so maybe we can clear out one of the old bedrooms on the first floor for Silas to move into, and another one can be turned into a physical therapy room. We can get any equipment that he’ll need to help with his recovery, and Maisie can come help out whenever she can.” I said, looking between my family. “Sounds like a good plan to me.” My father said, pulling out his phone and texting someone. “Wait, wait, wait!” Marco said, looking between all of us. “Look I’ll admit it, Maisie has really helped us all, and shes nice and everything..” he sighed. “But are we sure that she’s safe to have around in the long run?” He asked, his eyes trailing over to me. “I get that you like her and everything Angelo, but if I’m honest, I still don’t like that you told her about us!” “You told her.. about what we do?” Dad said, staring me down. I nodded. “Yes, I did, and she handled it better than any of you are handling her knowing about it.” I rolled my eyes. “Angelo, I know that I stepped down, and you’re in charge now, but telling someone about us.. about our family business, that isn’t just your call to make!” Dad snapped, in a low hiss. I looked at Margo, and motioned for her to take Maisie outside for a minute. Once I knew they were out of earshot I stared down my family. “I don’t care what any of you think about me telling her. She saved Mikey when he was shot, and even told us to come up with a better lie to give the cops!” “She did!” Mikey agreed, smirking at Marco. “She popped Max’s shoulder back in place, took the shirt off of her own back to stop my head from bleeding when I fell down the stairs, and just helped save Silas’ life!” I spat at them. “If you’re honestly so stubborn that you would think badly of me telling her this, before I tried to enter a relationship with her, then you’re the ones who are blinded, not me! Maisie has been nothing but kind, and generous! I have feelings for her, I’m dating her, and you all are going to have to get used to the fact that I’m not going to lie to her!” “So you told her about Reggie then?” Marco smirked, thinking he had the upper hand. I nodded. “We sat down and had a long conversation, about not only my past, but hers as well.” Dad walked over, placing his hand on my shoulder, his eyes softening. “If you trust her, I trust her, just make sure you protect what’s yours son.” He smiled down at me. “I’m glad to see that you are finally trying to find some happiness of your own.” The screeching of tires outside had all of us jumping up, and looking outside. We saw a black van pulled up on the sidewalk. Two men jumped out, grabbing Margo and Maisie, tossing them inside. My heart stopped for a moment, before I quickly sprinted from the hospital. The van pulled away, speeding quickly down the road. I jumped into my car, trying to chase them down, but I lost them in the traffic. Panic filled my chest, and I quickly drove back to the hospital, grabbing the laptop and checking through all of the cameras that were placed throughout town. It took me nearly an hour, but I was able to pinpoint the area where they took the girls, and soon, Mikey, Marco, and I loaded into my car, and raced to find them. {Maisie’s POV} I woke up tied to a chair, I could feel someone behind me, and I groggily turned, trying to figure out what happened. “Maisie.. are you awake?” I heard Margo’s voice, it was soft, and filled with worry. “Y-Yeah.. what happened.. where are we?” I asked, looking around the room. It was dark, and I could see a table lined with different knives, and other kinds of weapons. “We were kidnapped, but don’t worry, I think I’ve almost got you untied, then I’ll need your help untying me!” She said, as I felt the ropes around my hands loosen. I pulled my hands out, untying my ankles from the chair, before turning and untying Margo. “Okay, now what?” I asked, looking around the room. “Now, we fight our way out!” She said, walking to the table and grabbing some knives, handing me one. “Do you think you can handle this?” She asked, placing her hand on my shoulder. Fear had me in a chokehold but I knew that I’d have to fight my way out, whether I was ready or not. I nodded, grabbing her hand. “I can do this..” I whispered. Suddenly we heard footsteps from outside the door, making their way towards us. I climbed on top of the table, beside the door, while Margo stood in the middle of the room, waiting for someone to enter. A man walked in, looking over her. “Well, well, well, you escaped..” he groaned. “Wait.. where’s your little friend?” He asked. I jumped from my place on the table, landing on the man’s back and stabbing through his jugular. He fell to the ground, coughing up blood. I looked down, my hands were covered in the disgusting red fluids. My hands began to shake, and I felt my mind being dragged back to that he** that I was in for so long. “No..” I whimpered, my hands shaking, as the knife slid from my hand and clattered onto the floor. “No.. no.. no..” I cried out, trying hard to fight off the panic attack. My chest felt like it was being crushed, as my breath quickened. I dropped to my knees, panting heavily. “What’s going on in here?” A loud voice from behind me pulled me from my thoughts, in a panic I grabbed the knife in front of me, turning and jabbing it into his thigh. He hissed, looking down and smacking me hard across the face. I pulled out the knife, jumping to my feet and stabbing him in the heart, watching as the life left his eyes. I pushed him down, grabbing Margo’s hand, and pulled her behind me. “Come on, we have to get out of here!” I said, dragging her through the halls of whatever he**hole we were in.
