“Job, what brings you here all of a sudden? Is there anything you need or are you leaving the island?” inquired Gooky.
“There are just some few things I want us to discuss about. By the end of our conversation, I hope the issue will be resolved. By the way, this man here is called Kyle. I met him exactly the same way I met you. I know he will not behave like you did,” replied Job.
“Before I forget, I hope you know Kareem. I met him last year and he told me all that you had told him. He told many things but this particular one stood out for me. That are you are the owner of this island. You even gave this island a new name. I hear Kewilon Island. Now I believe your talent of deception is just very unparalleled. You have overdone it,” Job added.
“That is why Kareem never returned. You misled him. I do not think I can ever forgive you. However, just say what brought you and go. The longer I see you, the angrier I grow,” said Gooky.
“Yesterday, I started noticing a lot of smoke from this side of the island. Therefore, I came to find out what was really happening, “said Job.
Gooky replied, “I think you now notice who the real owner of the island is. You claim to be the owner of this island therefore, I did not expect you to come here and ask me since you know everything that happens on it at any time. In fact, I was about to come to you and inquire about what was happening. Shamelessly, it is you who is asking. What kind of island owner are you?”
“Stop speaking that nonsense of yours. I am here to tell you to stop cutting down the trees. The trees wrote a letter to me informing me that you had started cutting down the trees.
They told me to tell you that if you do not stop immediately, the trees will do their revenge and all humanity will suffer starting with you and your group. Therefore, please be mindful of the human race as you make your vague decisions,” said Job.
As Job was completing his statement, Gooky and his friends all burst into laughter. They could not believe the trees could write. They knew the trees would speak but they thought it was a big lie for Job to say they could write.
Job really wanted to show them the letter since he had it in his pocket but he did not want them to see the warning which the trees had sounded to him.
Kyle then emphasized, “The trees told me those same things a month ago when I was stranded there. They explained to me how important they were to humans. I was also a feller like you but what they said to me just changed my mind. I decided never to cut down a tree again.”
Kyle then went into details and explained to them every single thing the trees in the haunted forest told him.
“A word to a wise man is enough. You will not say that you were not told. If I were you, I would leave this island immediately. Value your life more than wealth. A dead man cannot get any penny richer,” concluded Job.
He then touched Kyle’s shoulder and told him that it was the time for them to return home. Therefore, they turned and set their focus to where they were going. They thought it was done and dusted but Gooky had different ideas though.
Since it was five versus two, Gooky and his four friends attacked Kyle and Job from behind. They pounced on them as a cat would to a rat. Kyle and Job had no chance of defense as it was a surprise attack. They quickly tied up Kyle who was the number one threat. As for Job, they punched him and kicked him as hard as they would.
He surely received the beating of his life. As they were still beating him up, the leaf that had the letter on it fell down from his pocket and Gooky picked it up. They continued beating him to point of death making sure that he could not even raise his smallest finger. Kyle was watching whatever was happening. He screamed, shouted and tried to go to Job’s rescue but all his efforts were futile since he was tied up and held by two strong men.
Gooky then read through the letter. He was a bit surprised but he had to believe. He commanded his men to throw Job into the bush and Kyle into the hut of detention after which he called all the others for an urgent meeting in the courtyard.
