CHAPTER 3 .MAX.

Spring haven was a small town with lots of wolf shifters who lived together in a pack with other supernatural creatures that human don't believe are real. Stella and todd have told me about liv and the kids moving to be with the pack. Stella had talked about how pretty liv was but she was more than pretty those forest green eyes and long flowy brown hair and her perfect curves… i was pulled from my train of thought when todd slammed the trucks door shot. I need to focus i cant think of the sexy woman living next door to my alpha and luna. We have a job to do we had to protect the humans from rabid or rouge shifters trying to start problems and let out the knowledge of the supernatural world. “What do we got dixin todd asked as we examined the gruesome remains scattered over the field on the side of the highway. You couldn't tell what was left where the body began and where it ended. As a wolf shifter i know this was a human female from the sent usually i can find the sent of the attacker but there is no sent other then the one of the dead woman. The forensic team is scouring the field looking for more parts of the body searching for any evidence to help solve the murder. This didn't look like another human it looks like a shifter gone rabid.

Rabid shiters are dangerous they have lost here minds and tear any thing and anyone in there path to pieces just because they can there is no saving these shifters no helping them when faced with them none have been taken in to any kind of custody. Rabid shifters are equivalent to a wild animal with rabies theres no saving them “ it looks to be an animal attack a gruesome animal attack” deputy larson a human deputy does not look so good he's turning green and holding the back of his hand to his mouth like hes going to throw up “larson back to the cars don't compromise the crime sene” deputy larson barley makes it across the crime scene tape before he looses it in front of a cruiser. I roll my eyes and look away “max i need you to shift and search the perimeter see if you can pick anything up see what you can find your the best tracker i have” todd says as he looks over at deputy larson with amusement. “Got it im not picking anything up here except the victim's blood. I will walk as far as i can in to the dark then shift if i dont find anything i should be back with in the next hour if i find something i will call you when i get back” todd nods then heads back to the other deputies.

I walk to the edge of the field where its complete darkness. I can feel my wolf in my mind ready for a hunt.- I strip my clothes and set them to the side. Cracking my neck from side to side then i feel the shift from human to wolf form i can hear the cracking and forming of bones but i feel no pain. Once im shifted fully i shack my coat feeling good as a wolf my sense of smell, vision, and hearing is heightened even more then it had been. Sniffing the air then the ground nothing i search the area for twenty minutes until i find where the everything began about 400 yards away i find blood and tier marks from a vehicle with an oil leak. At first i had assumed she was a hitch hicker who crossed paths with this monster. Now i know he had brought her here as a game. Pushing threw my mind to speak to todd on a wave link only wolves can hear. “Todd 400 yards west i found where it started next to the side road. Looks like this guy transported her here then let her go so he could hunt her. The perps rig looks to have an oil leak.” a moment of silence before i hear todds voice in my mind “sick f**k ok shift and get back here we will head to the office. In the morning we will take some pictures over to livs place of the bite and claw marks see if she can tell us what they come from.” anger rose inside me liv should never see something this graphic and horrible. I wasnt sure why i felt like i needed to protect her from seeing this but i had a feeling i knew what it was but i wouldn't know without touching her to prove my theory. “Why the hell would you show this to liv theres no was in hell i'm showing her this s**t” im growling as i push my thoughts to todd while headed back to my clothes. “Max shes was animal control and wild life specialist back in suburbia she worked with the pack to decipher animal attacks from shifter and wild animals. She is damn good alway got the species right and was never wrong on her thought of it being shifter or wild animal….” his words caught off in my head as I climbed into the truck where he was waiting on me. Glaring at him todds eyebrow furrowed with a look of confusion, then a smirk “so is this a mate pull or are you just interested in liv.” i roll my eyes knowing I would not tell him I thought she could be my mate. “f**k off todd” is all i could say while he took off down the road leaving me to think of liv the most beautiful woman i have ever seen.
