CHAPTER 4 .LIV.

“Its going to be a boy. Should i tell aunt stel or keep it to myself and let her find out on her own” bec and i had been talking about stel and the baby bec had figured out what the baby was by the feeling she got from the aura around stellas stomach. “Well bec you could ask if she wants to wait or hear what you think the baby is you haven't been able to tell before.” bec chews on her thumb nail thinking about it then sighs “ i dont think im going to say anything sometimes i hate my gift its hard to understand.” i grab my coffee then sit down at the table with her. “Baby girl i know that our gifts are hard to understand and you may never know the true extent of them. Thats ok remember you have me to talk to and help you figure them out.” i smile at her before bec could respond stel walks in the front door “good morning ooo coffees done don't mind me im just going to help myself…. Liv is that what i think i smell are you making cinnamon rolls this morning” stel is smiling walking to the oven opening it to take a peak. “ well stella you had everything for them set up in one of the cabinets like you where expecting me to make them. And dont forget the note you left on the flour asking for them.” bec laughs stel looks at me all innocent and shocked i would even say such a thing. Then laughs while i smile sipping my coffee. “todd she made them i told you she would now get in here and ask what you need to so she doesn't burn my craving” then stel goes back to grabbing coffee “hey liv it smells good in here last night we had an attack on the highway i need you to check out some photos and see if you can tell what kind of animal caused the attack” i barely hear what todd says im to distracted by max as he walks into my house with such a confident stride hes wear a shirt that hugs everything to his masculine chest all i can think about is seeing what under that shirt. As if he could read my mind he smirks its so sexy i blush.

“Aunt liv ummmmm i think you should check the cinnamon rolls in the oven. Aunt stel stop opening the oven you are letting the heat out” bec is trying to get stel from the oven while stel pouts acting all sad. “Hold on todd let me deal with your mate and niece then you can ask me again i spaced out for a second i need more coffee still tired.” max just smirks at me knowing i was ogling with my eyes todd tries to cover his laugh with a cough. I must have been obvious when i was staring at max. I pull out the cinnamon rolls “ bec can you finish this before stel has a breakdown” bec moves to finish them “ok todd wheres the photos?” i ask as i turn around to face them trying not to look at max. “Todd are you sure she should see these it's too much for a woman to handle we should just call the doc” max sounds angry which pisses me off why does it matter if im a woman i have done this hundreds of times before for the suburban shiter police i'm not just some human that would say it was an animal attack i have known about shifters since i was sixteen when my family moved to suburbia and met stel and john and found out john and rain were mates. “Just give me the photos todd” with a little too much venom in my tone. Maxs face hardens looking pissed. Sucks to be him.

The pictures make me feel sick this guy ripped this girl to shreds “ definitely a shifter claw and bite marks are too large to be a wild animal. If you look here on this piece of flesh it's a cougar bite.” i point to the photo i may feel sick but my voice never wavers and i kept a straight face to keep from showing how i felt this guy was f****d. “Hes not rabid todd i would say he enjoyed this if he was then this would still be gory but its as if he took his time and tore her apart a little at a time and then let her try to escape” max finally spoke from the corner anger and disgust in his voice “ how can you tell?” i look up and into his eyes that seem to soften looking in to mind but his facial features stay the same hardened expression it has been. “If this was a rabid shifter then it would have been in one spot isolated and the bites and claw marks deeper as he tore in a lot of them are shallow like he was playing with her before he killed her.” i take a breath so my voice doesn't shake with my emotions and i don't vomit. “ i would say you have a shifter who enjoys to play cat and mouse before the kill no pun intended being i belive this to be a cougar.” todd squeezes stel to him as they stand next to the island counter. “Stella, oliva i want you guys to say on alert don't go anywhere alone if this guy is hurting females i don't want my girls to get hurt” a snarl erupts from max i look at him and hes staring at me he looks pissed what the hell did i do. I look to todd and stel who seem to be grinning at max whos still glaring at me i try to break the tension “ todd you know i hate being called olivia and we will be fine if something happens you guys are next door. Owen can shift and get him and bec out of here and to you and i can hold my own until you get here” once again a snarl comes from max. “ like hell you will go to todd to protect you” hes mad really mad his ocean blue eyes are now bright silver. Todd and stel are still grinning what the f**k is wrong with them. “Excuse the hell out of you. Todds my family i can hold my own but if i need help todd can come to help me you have no say on who protects me.” im getting mad and want to punch max in his beautiful face. “ i do have a say and todd is not who you call you call me and i will deal with it do you hear me.” max is almost growling at this point. Stella burst out laughing pregnancy hormones are already making her crazy.

“Aunt liv i dont feel so good my head is pounding and i feel dizzy…..” bec walked to me looking pale as a ghost. “bec … bec.. Are you ok lets go sit down” i go to grab her had but when i touch her hand i know whats going to happen my gift of being a healer has always let me know when a shifter was going to shift for the first time when i touched them. “ bec we need to get you outside now your shifting.” i pull bec to the door yelling behind me “ stella im going to need you for this” stel came out the door we got bec off the porch. “How do i do this aunt liv? I feel sick why do i feel sick?” stel jumps in to help to talk bec threw her first shift. I step back to give bec room but hit a brick wall electrical sparks shoot threw my whole body with a calming sensation that lets me know everything will alright. I sigh and relax then notice todd to my right grinning from ear to ear. What is wrong with him and wait why is there a wall behind me in the front yard. My back straightens then i look at whats behind me its max. O s**t he looks pissed i step away he growled at me then i hear bec scream in pain. I go back to bec and hold her hand i can sense she's in alot of pain. “Liv shes a late shifter the first shift can be painful can you do anything to help so she not in so much pain she might be able to shift faster and easier” i nod taking becs hand “stel you know how this works when its done i might pass out dont worry about me help bec threw this all.” stel nods then i look to bec “baby girl breath after this you wont feel pain shifting so please just let me take the pain away and do as aunt stel says” bec nods unable to talk. I take a deep breath and focus on pulling the pain from bec to me. With in seconds im groning the pain is excruciating in my mind i can feel the pain of each of her bones break and reform i pull all the pain from bec so she feels nothing. It feels like a lifetime but its only a minute or so i hear max panicking “ what is happening why is liv in pain?” becs hand disappears and in its place a sandy colored furred paw. I let go and wip away the tears that had fallen. I can feel blood trickling down my nose and ears “Bec you are beautiful” i say in a shaky voice as i start to sway then i feel big hands grab me as i start to fall. “ olivia are you ok whats wrong?” fear is in maxs voice worry etched all over his face. Todd is next to max “liv speak to me are you alright?” i feel the sparks again then maxs chest is vibrating as he growls at todd as he trys to touch me and pulls his hand away fast. I try to push away from maxs chest but he only growls louder and pulls me tighter then becs wolf growls at max in a warning. “Stop it both of you max let me go im fine” i try to put as much force in my voice as possible my body still in extreme pain but for some reason being in maxs arms makes me feel a little comfort so i dont try to fight him any more. The effects of taking someones pain always last for a few minutes before the pain goes away and i need to rest. Todd steps back a few more steps “max she will be alright she took all the pain from bec and put it in her own body. She has a gift that allows her to help heal and take others pain,” stel says walking slowly toward us with her hands up speaking softly and slowly like she would a trapped animal. “Max im going to take liv check her out make sure there was no repercussions from taking that much pain from bec.” max pulls me even closer to him growling some more i cant breath hes squeezing me so tightly. “Max…cant….breath…” i say between breaths he loosens his hold then a look of horror crosses his face then looks at stel “stella he nose and ears are bleeding” stel continues to move slowly with max taking me from him “that started when she was taking becs pain i need to get her inside to check her out. Todd stay with bec help her shift back when shes ready i got liv” i start to walk with stel and my legs wobble as i walk then im lifted up and the sparks start again “max put me down i can walk im fine this is nothing i just need to sit down” max growls again man this is getting old fast.
