Sam looked surprised! Yet, he placed the mouth prop back down on the tray and picked up two other, scary looking tools. He began to bring them towards my mouth.
"Sam, what are they?" I asked him inquisitively.
"This here is a mirror, and this is an explorer. I'm just going to see if there's any issues with your teeth."
I nodded my head and gulped a tad.
"Okay, open up wide for me now."
I followed my brother's instructions and opened my mouth. I guess I had no other choice!
"Wider than that Billy, or would you like to meet Mr. mouth prop again?" he laughed.
Suddenly, I felt Sam help me open my mouth with his gloved fingers and all of a sudden my mouth was super wide. He proceeded to place the two tools inside my mouth whilst I watched his beady eyes scan my teeth. He tapped every single one of the teeth and lucky for me there was no pain.
"Wow Billy, your teeth are excellent, i'm just going to give you a cleaning and you'll be all done. Oh, also i'll take the moulds for your braces that you'll be getting next week."
Braces?! I harshly bit down on my brothers finger and he screeched in pain! Yet, I just wouldn't let go...
"BILLY, AHH, OPEN YOUR MOUTH!"
Eventually I opened my mouth, letting my brother's finger free. He pulled off his mask and gloves and rushed over the sink to tend to his finger. I felt extremely guilty for hurting my brother, yet there was no chance on Earth i'd allow him to place braces on my teeth. That was a fact!
Sam had been tending to his finger for a while now. He stared deep into the running tap water, looking angry and bewildered. I felt semi guilty, yet full of rage. Thoughts rushed across my head, and I pondered deeply to myself. Yet, I quicky zoomed back into the zone when I heard the tap being turned off. I glanced over to the sink to see my brother walking in my direction snapping on yet another pair of gloves. He glared deep into my soul which put me on edge.
"So you don't want braces it seems?" Sam sarcasticly asked.
I rapidly shook my head back and forth gesturing 'no', with my scruffy hair swaying left and right.
Sam rolled his eyes, sighing as he does.
"Well, we'll talk about this another time. Yet, for now, i'll take moulds of your teeth incase I end up winning you over. All I want is to help you Billy."
"Firstly, you could help me by getting me out of these straps, pal!" I understood my tone was rude and uncalled for, but that was the least of my worries right now.
To my surpise, Sam obeyed me! He began undoing the straps to set me free from this horrible torment. Freedom! At last! Man it felt good...
"Thanks bro!" I smiled, giving my brother knuckles. "I'm sorry i'm such a pain in the ass, it's just not easy having a brother as a dentist."
Sam sat beside me on his stool...
"I understand that Billy, all I want is to help you though, you understand right?"
I nodded my head gently.
"Okay big man, let's take these moulds of your teeth and you'll be done for the day!"
I laid my head back on the chair as Sam brought two moulds over to the tray, one for the top, and one for the bottom. They were filled with a pink, goopy mixture which already made me want to gag!
"Open wide bud." Sam told me, in a kind-hearted manner.
I obeyed my brother; not wanting to make, yet another, huge fuss.
I gagged. I spluttered. I choked. I cried.
DISGUSTING!
"Holy crap Sam, that was the longest two minutes of my life. I'm glad all that is over and we can finally go home! No offence to you or anything, but I absolutely hate it here!"
"Yeah me too bud, and I know you do, but it's gotta be done! Lemme just wrap up and we can head home, how about some ice-cream for being such a brave little boy!" He smirked at me giving me a playful punch on the shoulder.
"Haha, funny one..." I joked. "Yeah sure, sounds good!"
We headed to the ice-cream parlour as a special treat, and both purchased our favourites! Mine; chocolate chip, with chocolate fudge pieces, chocolate sauce and a chocolate flake. Sam's; plain vanilla. He's so boring! I know he's a dentist and all but he just loves avoiding sugar! No wonder he's never had a cavity in his life, well for that matter, neither have I! But sugar, I don't give a damn!
"Thanks for the ice-cream Sam, I really appreciate it!"
"Yeah, no problems!" Sam replied. "Good job at the dentist, you weren't too bad I guess. Only a few straps and some force!"
Oh geez, his jokes just keep getting worse!
