Chapter 37 – First Day in the Office

1307 Words
Madison’s POV The family decided to go back to LA until next week. They will be back in time for the hearing next week. Jayden and I decided that we would stay and make the best of our time. We were prepared to go to the office the next day. Caleb also stayed to strategize on the upcoming case. He feels like Aiden and his family is up to something. I think they are reading to much into it but men will be men. “Jayden we need to stay well guarded I feel like something is off about them not appearing in court. I know that part of it was they drew the wrong judge for the case but now everyone is silent. He knows she is I town but hasn’t made any attempts to contact her. I don’t know it’s hard to explain my feeling but something is off.” Caleb says. “I know Caleb I feel the same way. We are all going to the office tomorrow. Cathy my assistant has set up some meetings with the board and companies CEO’s that want to work with us. I do not have a list of names yet so let us just hope everything goes as plan tomorrow. I don’t want to be caught off guard or faced with a lot of problems.” Jayden says. I watch my husband and brother-n-law go back and forth; it is tiring so I decided to go upstairs and read some emails my assistant Sheila sent me. Before I can sneak away my husband stops me. “Madison in the morning I will handle the board meeting with our investors. I will let you handle the new proposals for projects that other companies want us to invest in. Once I have finished talking to those old farts I will join you. Your assistant should provide you with a list of the projects in the morning. I have no idea why they are holding this up and not providing us with it today. They better pray they are not playing games or doing any favors for people, because I will not tolerate that one bit.” Jayden say. I felt the same way. Our assistants new for a whole week that we would be in town and taking meetings. Either they are not efficient enough to be able to handle the job or somebody’s playing games. Either way I feel some one is going to get fired. “I agree Sheila was aware of me being in town since I was served with the summons. This is one of the issues that I addressed with Christian. This is their stomping grounds we may be well known and have power, but they know a lot more people here than we do. That can really work against us. We have been gone for a little over three months and I know you and Christian have made contacts, but I have not. Aiden never let me mingle with the people he knew so I stayed hidden. I will be starting fresh only relying on my family name. I just hope the people y’all have in place are loyal.” I say. “Listen do not eat or drink anything unless it is given to you by Caleb or me. We cannot forget they are after your life babe. I refuse to let them succeed. Like you said we have been gone for some months and money can make people do stupid things. I don’t even want you to drink any coffee they give you.” Jayden says. “Wow honey doesn’t you think that is extreme. I am going to be to busy tomorrow to run out and get something to drink every time I want it.” I say. He sighs and tells me that we will figure out something. I must admit if I wasn’t scared before I am now. After dinner I decided to go to bed and let the men continue to talk business. I want to be well rested to face the long ass day I have in front of me. The next morning I wake up to the sound of the alarm I set last night. I roll over to realize I am in bed alone. I sit straight up wandering where my husband can be. So, I rush to the bathroom to take my morning shower and got dressed for the day. I decided to wear a simple Alexander McQueen Women’s Tailored Navy Blue Pencil Dress along with the Navy blue, red bottom heels to match. After a once over in the mirror I decided to go downstairs. I was shocked to see my brother Christian in the kitchen with Jayden and Caleb. “Good morning! Christian, I thought you went back to LA with everyone else yesterday?” I asked. “I know you didn’t think the president would let his baby sis face the wolves with out me this morning. While my CEO and right hand man Jayden handle the board member. You, Me, and Caleb will deal with the investors. I want to see if anyone dares to play games in my presence.” Christian says. We walked into the company around 9 o’clock and continued to the executive floor. We all went to our personal offices agreeing to meet in the conference room at 10 that would give us enough time to go over the list, we could only receive once we were in the office. I was only in my office for 2 minutes when my assistant comes in with the necessary files and a cup of coffee for me. I look at the coffee and politely tell her that I will be drinking water today, because of doctors' orders. I pick up my thermal cup and shake it in the air. She gives me an unpleasant look. Picks up the coffee and walk out the door slamming it behind her. That pissed me off, so I get up to follow her out, but Jayden comes in first. “Hey babe what just happened?” He ask. I signal for him to come close to my desk and tell him what just happened whispering. “Well, I might know what that was about. Just like we thought they are playing games. Your second meeting of the morning is going to be Greene’s and Jones Construction Companies.” Jayden says. “I don’t understand Aiden if he is genuinely trying to save his company why is he still dealing with Maverick?” I say because this makes no sense to me. “Christian just had the same thought. We believe the new wife has something to do with this meeting.” Jayden says. “Well, I will deal with my assistant later good thing you had packed my drinks this morning baby.” I said as I reached up and planted a kiss on his lips, but when I tried to move away, he grabbed me and kissed me again but this time he made my legs week. I shake it off and head to my first meeting with the Black Group. They had a good proposal that me, Christian and Caleb like, their meeting ran a little bit over the time, but it was okay because non of us were looking forward to the next meeting. We only had a second before Lucy comes in and tell us our next meeting was here, and she would be bringing in the lunch she ordered since this was a lunch meeting. The three of us traded looks because we did not authorize that. “Lucy who authorized this to be a lunch meeting?” Christian asked. “I did” we all turn to look at who was speaking. What the hell!
