The Truth

When I get upstairs, Lilly and Briggs are snuggled up on the couch. I say goodnight and start heading towards my room. Lilly stops me.
Lilly: Hey. What happened tonight?
I sit down. I take a deep breath to hold the tears back, but they still come. She gets up and stands in front of me. I started crying harder.
Me: I don't know. He tried to touch me and I told him I wasn't ready. We came back and joined you guys, but then he wanted to go back into his room. He said he wanted to talk but then kissed me again. I told him no and that I wanted to go home. Then he just ignored me.
She looks over at Briggs and motions for him to go to the room. He nods and goes.
Me: Lilly, can I ask you something?
Lilly: Sure. What is it?
Me: Did Kai sleep with Summer?
She looks shocked. She shakes her head vigorously. She actually starts laughing.
Me: Lilly. I'm serious here.
Lilly: I'm sorry. I know it's just what gave you that idea?
Me: Leon told me.
She jumps up. She yells for Briggs to come into the room. He comes back looking aggravated.
Lilly: Baby, you remember Summer?
Briggs: Yeah. Why?
Lilly: Leon told her that Kai slept with her.
Briggs: What?!
Me: So.....he lied to me?
Lilly: Unfortunately, yes. Summer and Kai hated each other. They were like cats and dogs with each other. They couldn't be in the same room for five seconds without being at each other's throats. I don't know who she cheated with, but it definitely wasn't Kai. He's a good brother. I can promise you that. Hate to say it, but I see him as blood more than Leon.
I got up and gave Lilly a hug. I thanked her for clearing things up and headed off to my room. I see my phone light up. It's a text from Leon. I began reading it. "Hey angel. I'm sorry about tonight. I was out of line. I want to make it up to you. I'll come pick you up tomorrow when I get off work."
I scoff at the message. I replied that I'm busy. The next message shocks me. It just says whatever. I threw my phone down. I flopped onto my bed. How did things turn sour so fast? I tried to fall asleep and had no luck. I ended up having another restless night.
I woke up the next day. I checked my phone and saw Lilly had sent me a message saying that Kai was coming over to pick up a package from their parents. I texted OK and got up. I head for the kitchen and brew a pot of coffee. After making my cup of coffee, I sat in front of the TV and channel surf until I ran across some cartoons. I got the day off from the clothing store and after yesterday's events, I just wanted to relax.
There's a knock on the door. I checked the peephole and saw it was Kai. I let him in. He greets me and then heads for Lilly room. He had a large package in his hands. He starts to head right out the door. I should let him go, but my mouth goes against my better judgment. I call his name.
Me: Kai, wait!
He stops and turns around. He just stares at me. I continue to speak.
Me: I'm sorry about yesterday. I talked to Lilly. She and Briggs both said they didn't sleep with her.
Kai: Ok. And?
Me: Uhh.....
Kai: Are you still with Leon? Knowing that he lied to you?
Me: Well yeah. We just had a small fight. We never broke up.
Kai: Well, we have nothing to talk about then.
Me: Bu-
The door closes and just like that he's gone. I don't understand him. Something is seriously wrong here. Starting with why Leon lied to me.
I decided to text him asking to come over around eight. That way, everyone will be here and we can finally clear the air. He texts back OK. I text Lilly about my plan and she's in. She says she'll text Briggs and Kai. Everything is a-go.
