Chapter 33

912 Words
After ringing in her birthday Massy and Odell enjoyed Christmas with their families, but separately from one another. Still not talking, Odell kept the conversation with his mother in the back of his mind, thinking about bits and pieces here and there. Massy began to feel like it was a lost cause, he had completely shut her out and down, only being cordial saying Hi and Bye. She wanted to be there for him during the whole Josh Norman and Panthers situation but, after a day or two he seemed to be over it, getting himself in control. He didn't need her. She couldn't help but remember her conversation with Jarvis at her party, the only reason he was showing up was to keep an eye on her. She didn't get it. He ignored her, was standing three feet away from her, with Brad and Jarvis being their only divider, smiling and partying as if she wasn't there as if nothing was wrong, like he didn't want her, but still making sure no other man got close to her or talked to her. Massy was to hype in her own celebrating after a few drinks that she hadn't realized Odell purposely had Brad and Jarvis and a few other Giants teammates that she built a big brother little sister bond with circled around her, making sure she remained untouched. While he kept his distance from her. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Week seventeen resulted in another lose for the Giants taking on the Minnesota Vikings. Even though Odell was suspended from this game he still suited up in full uniform, cleats and all but would remain on the sideline and bench during the game. Wide Receiver Rashad Jennings would take Odell's place on the field. It was visibly clear that captain Manning badly missed Odell on the field, the game started off badly and only continued to get worse. 'We just didn't play well,'' was all Manning had to say. The Vikings took over the game only to end it with a 17-49 win over the Giants. Rashad rushed for a 72 yard touchdown but it wasn't enough to take the win. That game would make it very clear to coach Coughlin and Manning that Odell was an extremely important player to the Giants. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Massy's commercial began playing airing the day after Christmas, Jay-Z - Brooklyn We Go Hard seemed to stick with her, it being the theme song as images of her training showed throughout the short commercial. With her being back in San Diego to close out the last week of training camp, teams began to talk more and more. England's team captain Steph Houghton took to her press conference with some rough words for Massy and their rival team. "She's a show pony for them, she's not use to this style of soccer." Houghton said about Massy. Jabs were being taken left and right at Massy. Team captains and players of other teams not being sold on the hype that circulated around her. Select people not being a fan of her cocky first press conference, saying she should of been more reserved and less full of herself. With their first match against France on the 4th of the New Year, Massy couldn't wait to get on the field, Houghton seemed to open up a whole new confidence with Massy. She more eager than anything to take them and any opposing team on. She took over training camp, more and more fans gathering to see what she had to offer, she displayed her natural talent and ability to take over a game. She knew she had a lot to prove, but she also knew she was good. "Massy Arias under criticism for her display of cockiness during her first solo press conference." "This is one of those things were if she wasn't cocky people would doubt her and if she's to cocky people will doubt her, this is a lose lose situation and shouldn't even be a topic." Stephen said giving his opinion on the topic of discussion. Skip Bayless seeming to always disagree for the sake of disagreeing shook his head closing his eyes. "We haven't even seen her play a game yet, and she's already displaying a ego!" "Well what is she supposed to do, be quiet, she was asked a question and she gave a honest answer. She knows she's good." He said throwing up his hands. "When I see her play her first game, then I'll agree or disagree with her cockiness." Skip said back not budging. "Awww you're just ridiculous, a hater." Stephen yelled back waving Skip off. Skip rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders at Stephen's comments about him. "Up next. Is this season the last season for New York Giants Coach Tom Coughlin!? Being forced to retire!?" Skip Bayless immediately put his hand up. "He should of retired years ago especially at how bad the Giants are!" Stephen leaned back in his chair throwing his arms in the air dramatically. "Here he goes!" He said sounding annoyed at Skip. Odell frowned at the television, not being to happy about the topic of his coach and their record. He also didn't take to k****e of Skips doubting of Massy for the second time. He knew this was normal, she was a public figure now, out for the positive and negative comments, them talking about him was one thing, but talking about her negatively was another thing.
