Chapter. 5. Holding Hope

FELICITY. Pov

I couldn't sleep last night. I was all awake, worrying about Blair. And I was damn tired felt pain all over my body. And my head ached a lot. I tried to sleep but had an awful nightmare. In my dream we were burying Blair, that was very scary. I didn't wake Blanca because I never wanted to bother her. She never liked being disturbed when sleeping and today Being Saturday, she liked to make a good use of her weekend with sleep. And my dream troubled me a lot. I was awake still it was almost 6 O'clock. I took my bath and dressed up, picked my car key and walk down stairs. I met my father talking his coffee.

"Morning Dad" I greeted

He sipped his coffee and turned "Up early?"

"Couldn't sleep either" I said and joined to have my coffee

"Felicity you looked pale. Oh my God what happened to you?" referring to my bandages.

"Had an accident yesterday dad. The other party is lying down on life support in the hospital" I said

"Are you okay?" he askes

"Dad am not okay. I had a nightmare. We were burying her in my dream"

"Your Victim I suppose"

"Yes"

"Who is she?"

"She is a student" I said.

He took his last coffee "she' ll survived. What did Joshua say?"

"She had a blood transfusion and successful surgeries and she is unconscious now on a life support" I said, finished my coffee and dropped my cup and turned to walk away.

"Going to work?" he asked

"No I'm going to the hospital. I need to check on her"

"Also tell Joshua to check on you. You look more dead to me than the dead. My company can't survive with you being like this" Dad said. I stepped out of the house and shove in my car and drove off. I reached office first around twenty-eight minutes past six. Nobody come that early except securities and cleaners. I passed them as they all greeted arranged some files and sign some documents. Dropped some notes to my secretary to cancel all my meetings and appointments today and left the office. I drove to mall, bought some clothes and foods and some provisions and drove to the hospital. Mandy called me on my way to tell me Kingsley has arrived and they are in the hospital. Few minutes later I made it to the hospital. I went to the ward but I saw only Blair. I dropped all I bought and sat down watching her. Kingsley walked him. I knew him when he walks him because he looked exactly like Blair. Very handsome and tall with a nice shape.

"Kingsley, hello" I greeted extending my right hand.

"Hi" he replied receiving my hand. But his response showed that Mandy hasn't brought him up with all the gists.

"Felicity" I said

"Oh Felicity. Yeah. You were the one that..."

"Almost killed your sister. Am sorry" I was very very vulnerable and I can take anything from him, from anyone. But Kingsley wasn't nobody and he was still understanding.

"Maybe but I wouldn't say that. You look like a zombie. Have you seen the doctor too? You need to otherwise you will be lying down here with her" He said

"I will do that but where is Mandy?" I mulled

"I don't know. She..."

And then Mandy walked him

"And she's here" he said

"Felicity" she greeted

"Hey. How are you?"

"I am fine. Just holding hope" she said " Hey you looked troubled. You looked exhausted. What happened, were you awake all through the night?" she observed.

"Yeah I couldn't sleep, even when I tried. I had this nightmare and it wasn't good at all. She died in my dream we were burying her. Mandy am afraid. Who can sleep in that state, in this state" I emphasized.

"Look Felicity, we are all holding hope here and the best we can all do now is to stay strong for her and not break down before her. If you keep being like this I'm afraid Blair won't see you when she wakes up. You need to put your self together okay?" Mandy emphasized

"Am trying to" I said

"Try harder and not break down before she wakes up. Look, that dream was just a dream besides it wasn't real. That was your subconscious mind playing tricks on you, you get that" She explained

"Look Felicity, I don't really know what happened except that my sister had an accident and you helped. It's not easy on any of us. Beside if I call my parents now I know they will freak out seeing her but all we need here at this critical time is to keep holding hope, All of us. She can only make it if we keep staying strong together for her okay. And I know my sister will be happy to meet you her life saviour. Please do not make me cry. I came her with the hope that my sister will be fine again and I will tell her all she missed" Kingsley distincted.

"Okay" I said wiping a drop of tear that almost drop down.

"Yes Felicity. Like I have been saying you are mauling this whole situation to your detriment and we might end up taking care of two instead of one" Mandy cradles

And I went over to look at Blair who was still lying down probably may be listening to us but can't talk.

"Hey sleeping beauty" I touched her hand smothering it. "Please get well soon. Your brother is here, your friend is here and I am here. A new face of the family" I said grinning.

"And that is the spirit girl" said Kingsley "and now I can call my parents"

Kingsley made video call home to his parents and they all talked as he introduced us all. We chatted with the parents and they prayed. They were really Christians but practical not religious. Kingsley kept his faith and hope on and Mandy was holding on strong. I really loved the family. They were likable. Unlike my family, I really thought that Blair's family will make an issue out of this or sue for damages even though they have right to but instead they got into the whole thing with understanding. Cradling the situation more than me and cradling me as well. I can't afford to get them worried over me so I went to Joshua and he helped me with some medicine. I went to Blair's bed and rest my head on her bed and slept off. The few minutes sleep was better and a relief. It helped me relaxed and I woke up better.

"Awake?" Kingsley strode over with some sandwich

"Yes" I said and yummed

"Don't worry I have yours with me" he said and smiled

"Where is Mandy" I asked arranging some seats for us to eat.

"She is coming" he said

"Hey, you're awake" she said

"Can we eat, am very hungry" I asked not knowing whether they like family dinner or us eating together. My girlfriend don't really like eating with me. She said am too chatty at table so she like to eat alone in silent. I've always known from TV show that couples who love each other eat together and chat while eating even when there is no more love they still eat together and get to talk about a lot of things. But Blanca would always say they are not real. It's not reality that there is a rule at table which is, do not talk while eating. So any time I managed to get her to eat with me, the scene would always be "eating in a cemetery with the dead" because you can't talk, the dead can't talk. You'll just eat your food and go your way, so I'm not a fan of table manners. That always seem to be Blanca and me at the table. After setting the table, I sat and looked to be disappointed but Kingsley and Mandy filled the seats. We ate and chatted and I brought some food I bought in the morning on my way here.

"I really don't know what to bring so I bought breakfast, lunch and dinner" I said filling the table with my food.

"You must be a crazy kid Felicity" Kingsley said

"Why?" Mandy questioned

"Because you don't think about next minutes. You just have to enjoy this minute at hand but she already prepared for the future. You must be a rich kid 'cause that is the way they behave" He said as he choosed our brunch and kept the rest.

"Yeah she is a damn rich girl" Mandy said blinking.

We started eating.

"How did you meet, are you school mates or did you just meet here?" Kingsley insinuate and gave me an eye.

"We go to the same school. Me and Felicity are course mates. We are studying Business Management but Blair well you know is studying accounting. But we are all at the same level" Mandy elaborated. I was enthralled. How she get to know me but I don't really know her. Don't even know she is my course mate 'cause I do not attend lectures with them.

"Wow!" Kingsley just wowed

"How do you know me Mandy cause I don't know my course mates, well not all. I know some but you I don't?"

"Don't you go to lectures. Hmm, you see in your lecture hall" Kingsley shrugged

"No I don't attend lectures with them....physically... I study online" I emphasized.

"Why do you study online?" Kingsley asked vaguely.

"I managed my father's company. I don't have time to waste at another person's office" I said huskily.

"Ouch! Tragedy" Kingsley mauled. I glowered at him.

"Yes. Do you have friends because your kind of people don't have friends" he mauled. I stared at him

"Why does it bother you so much if I have friends" I argued getting upset with him.

"Because you are a career woman and you don't have time for any time outside business. You don't know what life is because you don't have one. Because business is your life, money and power is your goal and when you lose any of that you starts aging, drawing closer to your grave. And your kind are salvaging the less previlages" he hoarsed

"Common Kingsley. That is too much. You are being harsh right now" Mandy warned as she watch us argue. I felt really really bad. Kingsley, was he actually criticizing me and my world? . He just insulted my life. Or was he being mad at me for having put his sister in this situation. I was hazed.

"Am sorry are you mad at me? 'cause if you are, it's your right. I didn't mean for this to happen. I never wanted to hurt your sister, I..."

He stifled me." stop stop stop Felicity. What are you saying, no body is blaming you. You are a victim as well, I told you before. Am sorry if I went too far but I was just speaking in general perspective". He finished his last food. "See, blaming people isn't my thing. Instead of looking for whom to blame why not look for a solution, a better remedy, and that is me. I'm remedist so am not blaming you for anything. We were not brought up that way. Me and my sister. So please stop blaming yourself for the last time. Okay? " he clarified

" So what about you Kingsley?" Mandy asked."What do you do for a living?"

"Me, I have no job titled. I just jungle and shuffle and do whatever that brings money and put food on the table. I have my sister to take care of, her school fees and up keeps. I have my parents at home to provide for and I have the house rent to pay for. So a titled job can't take care of all these which is why I shuffle jobs. And of all these I do my pride is my sister. She is my strength, our hope. We have put so much hope in her that one day a man worthy of her love will show up" He grinned at his words but Mandy and I were moved "And of course a rich dude, I don't want a poor dude like me to marry her because I don't want her to suffer again". He started shedding tears. "My sister has suffered a lot in life which is why am praying that this accident be the last suffer she will ever suffered" he continued crying and Me and Mandy were touched so much that our tears started flowing from our eyes and we moved and hugged him.

"Okay, enough about me" he said. "Mandy what about you? How did you meet my sister?" he asked cleaning his tears with his handkerchief.

"Well, my mother is a doctor and my father is contesting for the kingship in my village and I'm their only child. I met your sister in our year one when we were screening. I know she must have told you the story but let me reiterate. She was on call but her airtime exhausted and she was like "excuse me, excuse me please can you help me with your phone my airtime exhausted" and I was like who are you and why should I help you call your boyfriend? And she said "please it's my brother and he is sick I need to know if he's okay" . And I said you just spoke with him now why would you do that again? And she said. "I wasn't satisfied with our conversation, he is sick"

I said okay. She said. "He is my twin brother, I can feel him right here right now all over my body. I need to speak with him please" . And just then I felt my body sweat and guilt weighed me down so I gave her my phone and she called you". Mandy narrated

"Oh my God, you guys are twins?" I was surprised.

"Yes. But I came few minute before her" Kingsley bursted. "So she is my kid sis right?"

We laughed knowing where this was heading to, seniority.

Josh came and check on Blair, injected her some injection and left with his nurse.

"Is the doctor your boyfriend, 'cause you both seem to be familiar with each other?" Kingsley muttered.

"No. He's our family doctor and a friend" I said but Kingsley don't seemed to understand the angle I was going.

"I have a girlfriend. Her name is Blanca and I love her that is if... if I understand what that word Love is. I also have a senior brother whom am at war with over our father's empire. And I have my father as well. So it just the three of us with my girlfriend 4, at home and the rest are our servants". I stated.

We stayed together chatted and we both slept at the hospital and Kingsley left early morning the next day being Sunday to attend church in his village. And Mandy and I stayed. Blanca did not call all through Saturday and this Sunday and to tell the truth I was happy. Being around these people made me felt like home. Though my home can't be defined as home. I was relieved and a lot happier with them. Why we've been here Mandy has been taking care of changing Blair and repadding her so she smells nice. Mandy urged me to go home and we scheduled staying table on when to be staying with Blair so not to interferred with what we do or and her not being alone.
