Chapter. 4. Accident

FELICITY. Pov

"Ma'am you'll have to stay here" A nurse said to me and then to the EMT's that brought the victim to the hospital. "Please step aside and let us do our job" Three nurses wheeled her into the thearter.

"What happened?" Joshua rushed to me and asked.

"Accident" I said trembling and shaking with tears flowing like a river from my eyes. Joshua looked at me and hugged me to calm me down and rushed inside the theater. I needed that hugged so badly. Blanca wasn't here, how I wish she was here. I've left her a voice mail to call me back saying that am in the hospital. Things could have been a lot easier if she was here, at least I would have someone to hold me, hugged me and tell me it will be okay. But I still was afraid. The girl was not breathing because I knew I crashed her and it seemed badly and I've never seen anyone survived from that kind of car accident with a truck. One of my staffs was in labour, very very due and I offered them my car to take her to the hospital. Not waiting for them to return my car 'cause I had to leave work early, I wanted to have my lecture at home so I took the truck home. The truck was the first car I drove when I was little and it helped built my life. It was like a Godfather car to me. So sometimes I drove it and It mearnt catching up. I knew helping was never bad but then, I felt like regretting. I may have killed someone with my fav truck. So I prayed she survived it because I don't know what to do if she died on my account. Few minutes later Joshua came out from the theater.

"Josh how is she? She's alive right, can I see her?" I panicked

"Felicity, easy easy okay?" Josh tried to calm me down.

"Okay, but she's alive right?"

"She is" As Josh said she's alive, oh my God every being in me became alive again. My panick attack left me immediately and I was relieved.

"But she is unconscious" he said "she lost so much blood. We needed blood to save her and luckily we had her type in our blood bank so we did the blood transfusion right away and yes she had a successful surgeries. She survived it. It was as if everything was made ready for her. I think she had her second chance already before she lost the first one" I was relieved as I listened to Joshua.

"So when will she wake up?" I asked

"Hmm, not now but a weak or two" Josh guessed.

"What! I exclaimed.

"Things that make them recover fast mostly are stories, good memories, love and family. Connecting with her spirit, telling her stories, good stuff will help her recover fast". He stepped pass me. "And you need to tell her family. Let them know what happened to her" he said.

"Josh I don't know her family" I said

"Look at her belonging, you might find something that will lead you to her people. Felicity they need to know what happened to their daughter should the inevitable happens" After hearing Joshua my scale of my fear increased.

"Can I see her now" I asked.

"Yeah. Em..." he handed me some nylon with blooded clothes in it. "She was menstruating and I think it started today and she padded herself up with her boyfriend shirt and she was also wearing his pant. We've done our job and the nurses cleaned her up but the rest is up to her and her guidance" Having said that he stepped closer to me and being afraid and worried, I forgot to even check on myself.

"Wait! Is that blood? Joshua asked pointing at me.

Not knowing where he was even pointing at I nodded negatively.

"No. It's hers...her blood" I said.

"I mean... yeah on your forehead" he touched me there and I flinched.

"Common... follow me" he said as he dragged me inside his office and he treated my injury.

"We can't afford to lose two people at the same time. You need to consider taking care of yourself while you worry about her otherwise you die before her. Have you called your family?" he asked

"No"

"What about your girlfriend... I mean your... fiancee, you're engaged right?"

"Yes. Her number is not connecting but I left her a voice mail" I said " Thank you Josh for helping. You really are a big savior to me"

"Just don't worry about Bill until she wakes up" Josh said sincerely.

I went into her ward and search her bag couldn't find her phone but then I remembered I put it inside my bag because her phone fell aside during the accident. I checked it and she already had 11 missed calls. 6 was from someone name Kingsley and 5 from Mandy bestie and I dailed Mandy beastie. She didn't picked up but I left her a voice mail telling her what happened and which hospital to find us.

"I watched her lying down there on the bed innocently and I felt guilty. Guilt weighed me down that I even feared telling her how sorry I was to have put her through this pain. Joshua was preserved in telling me all about her injuries but as I looked at her she had head injury which they had bandaged. And there were bandage on her right leg from above her knee down to her leg, more broken ribs, one punching her lungs, a broken arm and leg and few cut on her face and stomach. Looking at her she looked really broken even after the surgeries. Her brain was swelling so they induce a coma. Though she was really sleeping beautifully but her face was registered with pain, stress and lack of affection. She looked like someone who has being through a lot and that made my guilt ate me up more for adding to her pain. I dialed the second missed call on her phone Kingsley and leave the ward but just as the person picked the call, I heard someone talking to the receptionist and I hanged up.

"Hi, my friend was admitted here this afternoom. Which room is she?"

"What is her name miss?" The receptionist asked

"Blair, Blair her name is Blair" she said and her heart was racing and I knew she might be the Mandy bestie so I approached her.

"Mandy Bestie right?" I muttered and she turned

"Felicity?" she called my name and she was shocked to have seen me here but anybody can be at the hospital. I don't really know how but she seemed to have known me.

"Yes, please this way" I led her to her ward and she busted into tear when she saw her friend lying on a hospital bed with a bandage on her head, bandage on her leg, drip on her left hand and a life supporting oxygen on her nose.

"Oh Blair... Blair please who did this to you" she cried. I held her and calmed her down.

"How did it happen?" she asked

"She ran into a moving car without looking, my car" I uttered and felt sorry for having to blame the victim.

"But she's gonna be fine? What did the daughter said? She attacked

" She lost a lot of blood but she has undergone a blood transfusion and she's gonna be alright so said the doctor" I reflected.

"I'm so so sorry Mandy. I really am." I said

"I know but we gonna tell her family" she groaned and burst into tears again. I moved and hugged her.

"I called her boyfriend but then I saw you with the receptionist so I hanged up" just then Kingsley called again.

"Oh here, he's calling back" I said and gave the phone to Mandy.

"Her brother not her boyfriend" Mandy corrected. After answering his call I gave Mandy her stuff, the cloth she was wearing. She looked and spread the clothes

"Oh s**t! Blair why?" she said in a low tow

"Everything okay?" I asked

"Blair told me in school she wasn't feeling fine and she was going home but it looked like she was at that man's place". She spoke with hatred in her voice and I can sensed that hatred wasn't for me but for that man according to Mandy.

"Did you call him?" Mandy questioned and her reaction told me that if I had called that man it would be worst for me but thank God I only called Mandy bestie and Kingsley. I nodded negatively. "No I didn't but I..."

"Can I interest you with some food 'cause it looks like you've been here since morning...Are you not hungry, can I get you something?" Mandy asked and she was right I really have been here since morning but I already have lost my appetite so I stopped her as she attempt Stepping out "I'm fine okay?" I assured her. She looked at my face and smirked

"I don't think you are. Look at you're face, look at your hand" she pointed at my left hand that Joshua had also bandaged. "You've been treated but I don't think you look good. You haven't taking anything and you look thin, pale and sullen and your eyes are all puffed up. Stay let me get you something, you are also a patient" Mandy reminded me and I sensed sincerity and worried in her voice.

"Okay. Thank you" I said and sat down. Mandy left and came back with sushi and sandwich. She gave me mine and had hers. As I lay hand on my food only then I realized how hungry I had been. So I ate as fast as possible and finally finished my food. I looked at the time and it 7:45 then I realized that I just had my dinner "Well, thank you for the dinner" I appreciated and went to Blair.

"Hey! My name is Felicity and I don't really know you but I think you are a good person because I've met your friend. She gave me dinner. She's worried about you and she worried about me too. She's a good person. Please get well soon and eat dinner with your friend Blair. Am really sorry that I put you through this " I cried as I talked to Blair.

"Felicity, you need to go home. Go home and rest. I'll stay here tonight. Her brother will be coming tomorrow morning" Said Mandy as she tossed the leftover.

I went out to hold my tears and remembered what Joshua said about her Menstruating. I rushed to the cafeteria and bought some clothes and pad came back.

"Forgot something?" Mandy asked

"Yeah I need to change her cloth. She's menstruating. She padded herself up with her boyfriend shirt and wore his pant before the accident" I snickered.

"Lemme do it" Mandy said

"No. Please let me help. I should have done it before now but I don't know why I forgot it" I dragged.

"It's okay Felicity. Don't be hard on yourself. You're already helping. You've been helping since it happened okay? So let me help now" Mandy mulled.

Just then Blanca Walked in.

And we hugged and she kissed me though I wasn't in the mood for it but I swallowed it in. I cupped her face, looked at her for a few seconds and stepped back. She didn't seem to know what was happening.

"Babe what happened, what are you doing in the hospital?" Just then she saw the bandage on my face. "Oh my Gee? Baby who did this to you" She raked as she tried to touch my face, I flinched and removed her hand "who wants to spoil my baby's face?

"Nobody" I said Mandy stood there insignificantly staring at us.

"What do you mean nobody? Look at your face, can you look at your face baby? She rebuked.

"It... It... It was an accident" I finally said

"Hell no. Who is that asshole that stole a driver's license. Who did this to you. Where is he. We need to sue him for damages you know" Blanca's attitude got me mad. How can she pretends not to see what's going on. How could she pretends not to see Mandy or the victim lying on life support on the bed?

"No. Blanca. I am the asshole. I hit someone. Look at the victim on the bed. Now, are you gonna sue for damages?" I retorted. Only then did Blanca look at the bed and looked at Mandy who stood watching her drama.

"Oh... my... Blair! She exclaimed looking at Blair." What happened, how did it happened?" she went to Mandy."Oh Mandy, am really sorry. Please forgive my manners I never knew you were the victim. What can we do to help?" she looked at Blair. "Poor Blair. I have to tell Hendric" she blantered

"Who's Hendric?" I asked

"He is Bla..." Blanca rattled

"He's nobody" Mandy stifled

I went to Blair to change and pad her because the bed was really sucking with blood.

"Mandy we have to change her" I said. "Wait let me call the doctor"

Just then Joshua walked in.

"Hello Ladies" he greeted.

"Doctor, is this just her period 'cause the blood is too much and it is really really..." Mandy worried

Joshua checked her body, checked her temperature and heart rate and everything seemed fine. "She's fine" he said and injected her. "You need to change her" he said and went off. "Goodnight ladies"

I went over to change and pad her.

"No" Blanca hesitated "Let her friend Mandy do it, not my girlfriend"

I stared at her and at Mandy and I hesitated

"No Blanca, I have to do it and...."

"I already told you to go home and rest Felicity. Tomorrow is another day. Let me do it" Mandy cut me in.

"Okay" I said "but can I help?" I asked

"Don't worry. I can handle this" She said

"Baby let's go. She said she can handle it and you know she can. So can we go home now? You staying here will not make her recover now and if I know Blair very well, I think she will be happy. She knows that you have really helped her even though the situation is really complicated" Blanca nagged.

Mandy was really getting annoyed at Blanca.

"Felicity you can go. Tomorrow is another day. Just come tomorrow and then you can see her family. Thank you for helping so far" she said and I took my bag and followed Blanca who had walked out of the ward. I put my hand inside my bag and brought out my complementary card.

"Here" I gave it her "It's my comp card. "Just call me if anything happened or if you need anything, okay?" Mandy collected the card and I hugged her and ran after Blanca who was already heading to the entrance of the hospital.
