Odette's POV
I was totally wrong. Being his secretary was much worse than I could imagine. It didn't help that I had to work overtime alongside him and don't get paid a dime.
I also have to live in one of the mini apartment in his mansion's compound. I didn't complain about this since I had a much better place to stay but I had no food except my leftovers from my past apartment and I'm just worried about how I'll survive after.
Letting out a sigh, I stood up from my seat in order to report to him when suddenly, the doors to the waiting room was flung open and a middle aged lady walked in, elegantly dressed with two guards following behind her.
“Excuse me, how may I help you?” I hurriedly stepped before them and I was suddenly hit hy the woman who glared at me with disgust.
“What is a filthy omega like you, doing stoping me from going in there?” She yelled angrily and I wanted to do something but I couldn't and my mouth just moved on its own.
“I can't allow you to see boss right now. He specifically requested for no guest.” I said, trying to keep my cool and she scoffed, shoving me aside to get to the door and before I could stop her, the two guards grabbed my arms roughly.
“You really should teach your workers how to respect me, Alec Black.” The woman yelled. Alec who was seated behind his desk, intently staring at the papers in his hands from behind his glasses looked up.
He was silent for a few seconds before turning to look at me. “I specially ordered that no one comes in here. Have you forgotten who you are?” He asked, his voice harsh and I could feel the weight on my chest.
“I'm very sorry, sir. She forced herself in, I couldn't stop her.” I bowed, trying to hold back the tears threatening to roll down my cheeks.
“Get your hands off her.” He glared at the guards who were still holding me and they immediately let go of me.
“Well, you're here mother, you can leave now.” He said nonchalantly but that didn't make me sneak a look at the woman. It was the fact that her called her mother. She looked very young to be his mother.
He was in his early thirties, very much older than I am and she looked like she wasn't even fifty yet and she was his mother? Rich people do have it well all rounds.
“Why would you talk to your mother that way, Alec Black. I am your mother and I can come visit you anytime I want.” She said, walking over to his table while I just stood there at the door.
“If you're here to disturb me, excuse yourself.” Alec calmly remarked as he turned his attention back to his work. His actions made me fear what he would do to me after they leave. Was he going to punish me and make me work overnight again?
I don't know how long I'll hace to keep working like this but I believe a miracle can happen and I'll finally be able to leave this place. But even if I did, wouldn't it be into another hell? My life has been bounded by debts and there's no way I can possibly pay all.
I was at least grateful he didn't get a crazy idea to put me into a brothel in order to pay me back which made me wonder if he had made a decision on what I'll finally be of use for and was just making me do all this work till he finally made a decision.
Either way, my life was already hellish enough. And I think more will just be added to it by this woman.
“I asked you to come for dinner yesterday to talk about your potential bride. How long do you intend on defying your father and I, Alec?” She asked him, standing before him with her aura flaring but he didn't seem to care at all. In fact, he was much more relaxed.
“I am not interested in anyone you bring in as my bride because they don't deserve to be. I have a lot of things to worry about, Mrs Black and a woman is not one of them.” He replied, placing the papers in his hands on the table before standing up.
“If you intend to continue with this conversation everytime you see me, I'll have to ban you from entering my company or property…”
“How dare you? I made you who you are. This all belongs to your father and if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have gotten it. You're so ungrateful. Get married and continue the family line, you act all arrogant. Do you want that illegitimate child to get ahead of you?” She thundered angrily but that didn't scare me.
What scared me was the fact that she had cut him off and he hated being cut off. Since she began speaking, he didn't move from the position of trying to remove his glasses, but his aura wouldn't stop leaking.
“You know, I've had it with you and father. I think you're forgetting something. Without me, this company would be down in the drain a long time ago. Don't try being all important to me right now, is that understood?” He said, oddly calm while standing up. In a swift motion, he walked past her, heading straight in my direction.
“You're driving me today. Club.” He ordered and I immediately bowed and did as he asked before he changed his mind to a brutal punishment immediately instead. Because he would surely say it was my fault for not stopping that woman when she was trying to get in.
“Y-yes sir.” I stuttered.
“And don't think you got off lightly with letting her into my personal office. You will pay dealt for it.” He said, getting into the car and my heart hammer against my ribcage with nervousness. Did I finally do it? Is this the end of me?
