Lunch with Eli

1290 Words
The rest of Sunday was uneventful. We played more games, I played dolls with Mallory and we ordered pizza for dinner. Eli had mind linked me about hanging out so we decided to go to lunch the next day. I also promised mom and Kim I would help with preparations for the Winter Solstice party the next morning. I seemed to have a restless night though. Tossing and turning the whole night, having nightmares of being mauled and killed by multiple rouges. I woke up in a cold sweat. I've never been more excited to train this afternoon, I need to work out these demons and make sure those nightmares never come true. Maybe I'll even go for a run before I have to help for the party. I dress quickly in a pair of grey biker shorts, an over size black hooded sweater and my favorite white Nike Air Zoom tennis shoes. Pulling my hair into a high pony tail I head out the back door to go to the training grounds. Mom was the only person up, she was making coffee. It is only 6am, I guess I can't expect my brothers to be up if its not training times or border patrol. I decided I would run in human form today on the track. There weren't many people working out yet once I reached the training grounds. The first training use to start at 5am. I'm not sure why more people aren't here. I did my stretches before taking off on the track. As I made my fourth lap around the track I saw a large group of wolves running back to the training grounds. That's why many people won't here, they do a run at the end of training. It's been so long I had forgot about that part. I stopped and took a drink of water watching warriors pair up and start sparring. I took back off around the track determined to do at least another 2 miles before I had to clean up and meet Kim and my mom. Another mile in I felt eyes on me. I thought I had smelt my mate a couple laps back but I was so lost in my own world that I didn't pay much attention. Now he is close, the smell is so strong. I decided to stop at my water bottle on the next lap just so I can get a look around see if I can at least spot were he is. Slowing down and stopping I grabbed my water bottle and opening it, about to take a drink when I feel someone's breath on my neck. Before I can register whats happening Daniel puts his hands on my hips sending a shot of pleasure straight to my core. His breath tickling the back of my neck he says "You're avoiding me, mate" I couldn't think straight, my mind was clouded with lust. How can four words make me come undone? I turned to him taking his hands off my hips. "I've avoided no one Alpha, I've been taking my time to try to work through my own feelings." I said, trying to suppress my natural instincts. "And what might those feelings be?" He asks, breathing lightly on my marking spot. I blew out a huff, speed walking back towards my parents house. I have no time for mind games. He knew what he was trying to do. When I got home both my mom and Kim were waiting for me. I quickly washed up and we took the golf cart to the courtyard the Winter Solstice festival will be held at. Most everything was already taken care of. I helped move around a few things and set up place settings when asked but I was mostly inessential. "Mom!" I yelled from across the courtyard "Yes, sweetheart, what do you need?" Mom asks looking down at her clipboard, walking closer. "I told Eli I would meet him for lunch at the diner in town, I'll be back to help some more in a couple hours." I said putting the last candle on the memorial for Luna Lilly. "That's fine, we are almost done here. Just don't miss training this afternoon and also remember the pack dinner is at 7pm. You will have to hurry, you won't have much time to shower and get ready after training." Mom said with a hug. "Thanks mom, I love you." "I love you too sweatheart." Mom walked away in a rush grabbing an Omega and asking her to bring out some drinks and sandwiches for everyone working. My mother has always been a considerate Beta Female. Omegas in our pack were never treated poorly or abused like some packs. We feel it makes for a stronger pack if everyone feels valued and seen they work harder. Eli met me at the border entrance, the diner was only about 10 minutes outside of our territory. After a quick but delicious lunch of laughing and joking around, Eli took me to a nearby shooting range. Target practice was one of our favorite past times. Eli had even packed my favorite gun a .357 Smith & Wesson Magnum. Even though the .357 has a slower speed than a 9mm I like it's higher muzzle velocity. We always practice with regular lead-alloy bullets, but in battle we only use silver laced bullets. They have a higher kill rate because even if you are shot in a non life threatening place, if you are a werewolf you will still get silver poisoning. "Your aim is still spot on Milly" Eli says looking over my should at the silhouette I just shot six times in a row. It looked like one big hole since I had hit the same area, the heart, all six shots. His target was just as impressive, with only two noticeable bullet holes to the head and heart. "So are we going to talk about the fact that Alpha Daniel is your mate?" Eli asks me. Growling at him I asked "How did you know?" "I was in this mornings training session. No one would dare touch you the way he did if they won't your mate." I shot him a deadly look. He held both of his hands up innocently, smirking. "I'm not sure what to think of this yet Eli, I've never been touchy feely. I also have never been one for PDA. Its kind of a turn off." Eli nods at me still smiling like a cheshire cat. "You're the worst" I said to Eli reloading the 9mm magazine since we had switched guns. Elijah had also bought a sniper riffle to practice with in the outdoor long-range targets. I was out of practice with long range weapons. I didn't have a permit to shoot in New York so this was the first time I shot any gun in over six month. I went target shooting with friends outside of the city limits when I lived in Chicago but they were pistols, not long-range weapons. "Milly remember to release the shot once you breath out. That helps stabilizes you for the shot." Eli mind links me from the side lines. We both had on noise-blocking earphones to prevent ear damage. I released the shot hitting only centimeters from my attended trajectory. Reloading I fired shot after shot till the magazine was spent. Most hitting the targets dead center. "Amazing!" Eli says as we pack away equipment. "What are you talking about?" I ask "You Milly, I'm saying you are amazing. For being out of practice you hit every target dead on." Eli said. I said the only thing my humble upbringing would allow me to "Thank you"
