" Enough to know that you were born with your wolf and that the two of you are mates. " Jackson said.

I was stunned. Onyx was stunned. No one was supposed to know our secret and we had been so careful. Don't get me wrong. I would love to shout to the world that Onyx and I belong together. Nobody can mess with fate, or should anyway. But the issue we both had was my father. We never knew why he had so much hatred for Onyx, but he had always doted on Sapphire. We didn't know how he'd react, but it wouldn't matter when I turned 18. Now we know. I wonder which birth parent sapphire looks like now.

Onyx and I used to plan to run away together when we were younger, even before he knew we were mates. He always said,

" One day you'll be mine, Anna, and if your father doesn't like it, I'll renounce my title and runaway with you". I felt as if the kind of love we have is eternal.

" Jackson. " I said as I shifted on both feet nervously. " You won't tell anybody, will you? "

" Why would I Anna? You're my sister, Who am I to stand in the way of fate? What I don't understand is how you were born with your wolf and why no one knows about it or that the both of you are mated and won't say anything. If I ever find my mate, I'd cherish it. There won't be a soul who wouldn't know. "

" I can't tell anyone because of how dad acts towards Onyx. My wolf also said it wasn't a good idea just yet to let anyone know about her. "

" I get it. "

My eyes widened. " You do? "

Jackson nodded his head. " Of course. I'm not blind, Anna. Anyone can see that dad doesn't approve of Onyx. I overheard mom arguing one day but now I know why. I'm 13 but I'm not an i***t. I think the two of you would be really good together. and as for your wolf. That is also not my secret to tell. I hate how i can find out anyone's secrets just by their thoughts. That is why I stay to myself most of the time. I don't want someone else's burden to fall on me. "

I walked up to my brother and squeezed him. " Thank you. "

" For what? Being in love? I'm happy for you. But you will have to eventually tell mom at least. "

" We will. "

" Thanks bud. " Onyx said as he put his hand on his shoulder and gave him a nod.

" I think dinner is almost done. We better get home. "

The three of us then headed home, laughing and joking along the way. The house eventually came in to view and two guys I have never seen before walked up to us.

" Onyx, bro where have you been hiding? We were about to send a squad out for you. You can't be disappearing like that on us. "

Jackson shook his head and went on inside. Onyx just blankly stared at the two guys before us.

" I'm fine, I was spending time with Anna, alone. "

" Awww, so this must be the future queen we've heard so much about. Hey beautiful, I'm Jason. But you can call me your love if you and this big guy ever part ways. This here is Kaden. "

Onyx growled and Jason put his hands up in defeat.

" She won't be calling you anything except that dead wolf she once met if you even think about coming near her, You manwhore. "

" My bad, my bad. Just trying to make a joke bro. Anyways, Luna Lariyah said we should come find you since dinner is ready. "

We went inside and I rushed upstairs to put my bag up. Then went to wash up for dinner. I went down stairs and everyone was already seated at the table. They were all waiting on me.

" Anna I'm glad you could finally join us. "

" Sorry dad, just had to wash up. "

We dug in. The food was great, like usual. Mom has always been an exceptional cook. Every one is making small talk. Onyx was sitting across from me, we would steal looks every chance we got. Our family knows we're close, just not how close, with the exception of Jackson now.

" How was school kids? " My mother asked.

" It was good for me. " Jackson said

" Same for me. " Replied Macey.

" I had a good day. Although I noticed Anna's didn't start out so great. " Says Maliah.

I looked at her with wide eyes hoping my facial expression was telling her to shut the f**k up. But unfortunately for me, she wasn't the one staring at me.

" What happened at school today, Anna? " My father asked and all of a sudden, I was the center of attention.

" Nothing really happened. Just some innocent bickering. " I answered as I pushed the food around on my plate, not wanting to look at anyone.

" Innocent? Nadia tried slapping you, but Drew was at least there to stop it. "

" Who tried slapping you? "

" Who is Drew? " My dad and Onyx asked at the same time.

Ryker spoke up, saying. " Dad, Nadia is a type of girl who likes to chase rank. We stay clear of her. "

" Yea and Drew is Ryker and Ryders' future beta. " Jackson chimed in.

" Why did she try slapping you, Anna? " Mom asked.

" It's really nothing. Drew was talking to me, then she came and shoved me out of the way like I was interrupting her. It's really no big deal. " I didn't want to be in this conversation. Not only was my dad staring at me but so was Onyx.

" We'll talk about this later, Anna. " Dad says.

Everybody eat.

I finished my dinner and excused

myself, then went to my room. That was a very awkward dinner that I just could no longer be apart of. I showered, then got ready for my shift tonight. A knock sounded on my door and I went to open it.

" Hey sweetie, are you ready for tonight? " My mom asks as she is standing in my door way. I moved out of the way to let her in, then closed it.

" Yea, I'm pretty anxious for it actually. "

" I'm sure you are. I remember my first shift like it was yesterday. "

" Mom? "

" Yea sweetie? "

" What was it like when you and dad first found out you were mates? "

" We told you already. It wasn't great. Your dad had a girlfriend at the time and I was actually on a date with a friend. Your father had actually found me, kissing Ajak. "

" Beta Ajak? " I asked in shock.

Mom giggled. " Yes actually. "

" Does Aunt Riyann know? "

" Honey, there isn't nothing Aunt Riyann didn't know back then. She use to see the future. "

" Wow. I didn't know that. What happened? "

" So Riyanns mom is the moon goddess. I met her once before actually. "

" You met the moon goddess? "

" Sweetie what's with the questions? "

" I don't know, I'm just trying to see how your life was before we came along. Like if you had to go through any hurdles or anything since I know you and dad had a rough start. "

" No. everything was pretty much great. Like we had our ups and downs but nothing bad really happened."

Now I know my mom is lying. Not only is she saying nothing bad happened but she can't even look me in the eye. Mom was always a bad liar.

" Oh ok. Can I ask you one more question. "

" Sure. "

" Why does dad hate Onyx but he's always treated Sapphire as if she was one of his own? "

" He doesn't hate him. He just has mixed feeling about him. "

" But why? "

" That is something you'll have to talk to dad about sweetie. "

" But what if dad doesn't tell me? "

" Well then that is his, prerogative. Right? "

Not right. I know the real reason and I wish she wouldn't lie to me, This makes me not even want to look forward to my shift. Angel definitely does not like when our mate is being talk down on so what is the point of even asking dad.

" Are you ready it's almost time? "

" Mom if its ok with you, I would rather do this alone. "

" What? Why? "

" I just want to be alone. " I lied. I should feel guilty but I don't. If she can lie straight to my face, then I can too. Especially since she thinks that I am some all powerful wolf that is supposed to bring peace to our kind in the near future. I mean, shouldn't I be able to know at least that?

Sensing the change in my mood, mom stood up and headed for the door. " Ok sweetie. We Will talk tomorrow then. "

She left after. I felt kind of bad, but then again I didn't. What else are my parent's keeping from me? I mean, I know that their life is none of my business and what

ever they went through must have been terrible for them not wanting to talk about it but if they have secrets that concern my life then why can't I know? It is after all my life..

I grabbed my phone and texted Onyx.

Me: Hey, Do you want to meet me at the waterfall?

Onyx: Yea, Is your family already heading over there. It's almost time.

Me: No. I just want my first shift to be with you. I told mom I wanted to do it alone.

Onyx: Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it baby?

Me: That is a conversation for another time. I'm heading out now so I'll see you there.

Onyx: Ok baby.

I jumped to my feet and headed for the door. Avoiding everybody on the way.

I made it to the waterfall in record time and glad to see that Onyx had already made it. I gave him a kiss and stepped back. It was now time. I slipped out of my green satin robe and was completely butt naked. Kind of embarrassed since this is the first time anyone had seen me naked. Now I wasn't sure what to do.

" Beautiful. " Onyx whispered behind me then I felt him at my back as he kissed the back of my shoulder.

" You are perfection baby. "

" Now. I want you to close your eyes. Clear your mind and picture Angel, Focus on her only and when she is ready it'll begin. It Will hurt baby. But don't fight the transition. Welcome it. Hand over the reigns to Angel and remember not to fight. "

I did just as he said. I focused on Angel and next thing I knew, I was on all fours sweating and rolling over in pain. It seemed to go on forever, but the pain wasn't

excruciating and I am sure that I have to thank Onyx for that. Not long after. Everything seemed to clear up beautifully. I could hear everything. I could see more vividly. I looked at Onyx and he looked completely stunned.

" Oh my goddess! You're so perfect. " Was all he could say. I wanted to see myself. to see angel. I have literally waited all my life for this after all. I used to think I was crazy as a pup, like everything I heard her voice but never seeing her. Now I get to put the face with the voice, so to speak.

I stared down at my reflection. Angel is memorizing. She is huge, not to mention our fur shines black with a light blue hue to it almost like a balayage, and piercing blue eyes that almost look white.

" You are beautiful Angel. " I complimented.

" No anna. WE are beautiful. " I felt sparks running along my back. Onyx couldn't

hear me but I could hear him since

he was still in human form.

"So soft, so mesmerizing. We love you and Angel so much. Baby. "

Angel yipped then jumped onto Onyx, licking his face. Being with him at this moment is almost magical. I could describe it. Onyx shifted in to his giant black wolf and we ran for a couple of hours. Even in wolf form, he towers over me and that is saying something because Angel is on the taller side. We hear other wolves and decide to go back to the waterfall. It wasn't just me who shifted tonight, but that doesn't mean I want the added company.. The company I have now is just fine. We shifted back in to our human form and the whole entire experience was just exhilarating. I feel as if there is nothing that I can't handle. Onyx and I talked for a little but longer and then we headed home to get to bed.

He has got a long day ahead of him,

training with dad and I have school tomorrow. Tonight ended perfectly and I had hoped for more nights like this. I fell in to a blissful sleep as soon as my head hit the bed and I welcomed it.
