I pulled out of the driveway and started heading towards the party. Everything was going smoothly until I noticed there was a line car stuck in traffic. Lucky me because it was just in the way I needed to be heading. When I got closer, I realized there was a fallen tree in the middle of the road. Just as I was about to back up to go the other way, another car pulled in behind me. Looks like I’m going to be here for a while. After a while, the fire department showed up and cut the tree up and moved it off the road. It was 11:30PM when the road finally cleared and the party would be ending soon so I had to hurry up.
I arrived at the party at 11:45PM and there were still a decent amount of people there. I grabbed my jean jacket off of the passenger seat and headed up to the house. When I got inside I was hit with music blaring in my ears and the smell of alcohol. People were dancing in the living room, while others were making out in the kitchen. I spotted the drinks and walked over to them, weaving myself through the crowds of people. I picked up a red solo cup and filled it with lemonade; I didn’t get alcohol because I had to work at the diner the next day and I didn't want to be hungover. I went to a sip of my drink when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around to see that it was some guy around my age that I didn’t recognize.
“You’re pretty.” He slurred as I got a whiff of the alcohol on his breath.
“Umm, thanks.” I said unsure if he even meant it since he was obviously drunk. He got close, trying to make a move on me, but I instinctively backed away when I accidently knocked into someone that was standing behind me. I turned around sharply when the person behind me dropped their drink, spilling it on the bottom of my dress and down my leg.
“Hey, watch it!” They said loudly causing a few people around us to stare.
“Sorry.” I apologized quickly before rushing up the stairs to find a bathroom. I opened the first door to see an empty office where someone had puked all over the floor. “Yuck.” I said quietly. I continued down the hall and thankfully the next door that I tried turned out to be the bathroom. I put my jacket down on the counter and grabbed a paper towel to dry off my leg. I made my way back over to the mirror and was fixing my hair when I saw the shower curtain shake. Walking over I yanked open the curtain to reveal two people making out in the tub.
“Do you mind?!” The girl snapped at me. At that point I was completely over it. I grabbed my jacket and exited out of the bathroom. I sped down the stairs and made my way to the front door as I saw a large group of people making their way inside. I changed direction because I didn’t feel like pushing through that crowd. As I pushed open the back door I bumped into another person and dropped my jacket.
“Sorry.” I apologized again, but more annoyed, while picking up my jacket frantically. I don’t know why, but I was feeling very overwhelmed and something just didn’t feel right.
“It’s okay.” The guy assured me as I continued across the backyard into the treeline leading into the woods. Once I got a closer my ankle cracked and I started to fall over but grabbed onto a tree for support. I had to get farther into the woods where I couldn’t be seen because I think I was about to shift. My grandmother had briefly explained it when I found out that I was a werewolf. Most wolves would have shifted for the first time already, but this is the first time for me. I am changing into my wolf.
As I got further into the woods my other ankle cracked. I let out a yelp and dropped to my hands and knees, where my right leg continued to snap and I closed my eyes. A wildfire was spreading throughout my body and my skin felt like it was burning. I ripped open my eyes and saw the guy that I had just bumped into in the backyard. I looked over at him and tried to move away but realized I could move and my left knee dislocated causing me to jolt my head down in pain. Why isn’t he running? Isn’t he scared?
