Chapter Three: THE EXECUTION

SARA'S POV

“What are you still doing standing there?” Katie barked at me. “Will you get on with your chores!?” Kate slapped me and I fell to the ground. My stepmother just smiled as I walked slowly back into my quarters. I can't believe I have been so humiliated by my own sister like that.

But I was more upset about Alpha Adrian. I am going to confront him and challenge him on his decision. Why did he betray me like that after telling me sweet nonsense for more than eighteen months.

So, I would occasionally go to his room to clean, as his omega. But he was never around. When I am done, I will just leave. It wasn't until my eighteenth year birthday that I met him in his room.

I was cleaning quietly for over twenty minutes and he did not make a word. I was going to also tell him that I am pregnant for him too. Maybe with that, he will reject Katie as his mate and accept me back. But no one was talking amongst us. I was tired of waiting for him, so I dropped the rag I was using and walked up to him.

“Why did you do this?” I went straight to the point. He knew what I was talking about immediately.

“I had no choice.” Alpha Adrian replied, with his head down. I laughed sarcastically at the irony.

“You have always bragged that you are the Alpha and you get to be the one to do the choosing, how can you say this now?” My words seemed to really upset him and he stood up and faced me.

“You are right, Sara. I am the Alpha. I am your Alpha and I get to choose whomever I want. I get to reject whomever I want to. I have rejected you as my mate. I don't need to explain anything to you at all. You will bow to my will!” He roared. It is quite strange how unlike for the other wolves, I do not submit to him by force. I just bow to him because I love him. But this is not happening this time.

I moved to him and touched him on his cheek. His thick beard grazed my palm as his breathing relaxed. Even in the midst of his tantrums, he looked very troubled. I get him. He only needs a little bit of good news. I kissed him softly on his lips. He withdrew for a moment and was about to protest, when I silenced him by putting my fingers across his lips.

“Shhh… Don't talk. I'm here to take your troubles away.” I whispered to his ears, as I caressed his hairy chest.

“What is making my Alpha all angry today?” I asked, as my fingers worked her way skillfully to his torso, and fondled his balls. He was hard again.

“I haven't gotten to the good news yet.” I licked his ears. I was about to whisper to him that I was pregnant, but before I could do that, I was caught red handed. Katie was at the door.

“What the f**k is going on?” She yelled at me. f**k! I forgot to lock the door. Adrian pushed me away from his side.

“Get away from me, you b***h!” He scowled at me. I could not believe it at all. Right in my eyes.

But Katie was not done with me. She pulled me up and slapped me.

“After years of trying to seduce the Alpha, you still went ahead with seducing him after he has announced his mate? You have no shame and I will show the entire pack what kind of slut you are.” She said, as she dragged me by my hair across the ground, as I struggled with her. Surprisingly, this was the strongest that I have ever felt her with.

As she dragged me out of the room to the square in the woods, there was no need to howl because the scene Katie created was enough to bring everyone out of their homes to the centre of the pack. The entire clan came out to see what was wrong. I knew that I was done for.

“This b***h here was caught engaging in the highest treason of all. She will be taken to the edge of the cliff and executed.” She announced, and everyone in the pack. I was so confused right now. When did that become the highest treasonable offence?

Two of the Beta’s trusted wolves roughened me up as they got ready to take me down the hill. I looked at my father, who was crying pathetically like the coward that I know him as. He was pleading with Beta Linda to release me, but it seemed like she had gotten what she always wanted. Alpha Adrian has not yet come out of his room. He must have been too ashamed to come out. He always wanted to show everyone that he is the big bad wolf. Now, he is no better than all of them.

“Stop this charade at once!” A voice echoed with all authority that immediately, the entire pack became silent. In fact, there were no movements at all. From behind, the pack began to make way for an elderly wolf. She was already past her sixties and she blossomed with silver hair and blue eyes. This is the Luna of the pack. Alpha Adrian's mother. She was known to be a she-wolf of a few words but cold hearted. She never really participated in the politics of the pack and would rather stay behind, observing everything going on. But I guess this is a different scenario after all.

“What is going on here?” Luna Veronica asked as she looked at me, I was already bloodied. She turned her face to my sister and repeated.

“I thought I was asking you a question. What is going on here?” She fired again. Katie shook before answering.

“She was caught in an act of treason and I was merely doing…” she was stammering, before the old Luna interrupted her.

“Doing what? Administering justice? Who are you to do that? Are you the Alpha? You are not the Luna yet, are you? And what act of treason has she done that will warrant her death too?” She fired at her.

“She was caught having an affair with Alpha Adrian and…” Kate insisted stubbornly but Luna Veronica was not done.

“So, you have decided to kill your own sister because of that?” She asked, calmly.

“The law does not bend for anyone.” Kate said to her. What does Katie know about the law? I have barely seen her reading a book in her entire life.

“It is enough!” Alpha Adrian thundered as he came out of his room at long last. I guess he could no longer hide.

“You do not speak to the future Luna like that.” Alpha Adrian reprimanded his own mother in the midst of everyone. She walked away, angrily. I guess that's why she never involves herself with werewolf businesses. He turned to me and then the entire pack.

“The law dictates that you will be shunned from the pack and not killed for this act of treason. You should know what the law says.” He concluded as he stared at Katie. He left the middle of the square and walked back to his quarters.

Is this it? Am I to be shunned and banished from here? How do I begin?
