Chapter 3
Ivory pov
My eyes flew open and the rather sudden bright light struck my eyes. I closed them immediately.
Then slowly I opened them and waited until they got adjusted to the light.
I looked around in confusion, my mind still a mess from what had happened earlier before I sighed.
The so-called memories that had overwhelmed me weren't mine but presumably those of the one who owned this body. If not it wouldn't make sense as to why I would be covered in injuries that I had seen in the memory.
I was still absorbed in my thoughts, when a voice came from outside.
"It's been weeks already. Are you sure she is still going to wake up?" A male voice said, his voice filled with uncertainty and disbelief.
"Her wounds are already healing fast, she's recovering at a high rate which is rather unique considering the degree of her injuries. Trust me, she will be fine." Another voice seemingly female answered and the realisation hit me.
I've been asleep for WEEKS!
"I hope so." His voice came and then I felt it.
That whisper in me, I could immediately feel myself pulled towards him without seeing his face, I would recognize that feeling at any time.
He was my mate.
My eyes almost bulged out of my sockets as I stared on in shock and the door creaked open.
Footsteps approached me and I saw a face lean over me.
Grey eyes pierced through my very soul with what looked like the ghost of a smile on his lips.
"You're finally awake, good thing you weren't planning to waste my money."
His voice was crisp, but cold and cruel.
As some pack leaders should be.
I stared at him blankly, awaiting him to say something but I could feel his aura.
He's an Alpha but a peculiar kind.
Maybe he would reject me like Damon did, maybe telling the doctor to stop my treatments, but after long hours of waiting, nothing happened.
I blinked.
My eyes swept his face, picking every detail I could, fleeting or not. His face was rather oblong with sharp angular edges and a well defined jaw. His raven black hair fell over his shoulders and I couldn't help but notice how silky they looked.
"That's a really bad way to stare at your benefactor." He said and a smile rose on my face.
At least the moon goddess had empathy this time around, she didn't give me someone who knew of the bond.
She gave me the chance to reject him.
Just before I could say another word, he got another call from outside.
He took a glance at me before he walked outside.
"Why are you here? I thought I already told you to wait at the residence?" His voice was calm but somehow I could feel the rage and bitterness underneath it.
"Alpha. You can't be taking your time to care for a criminal. We don't know the purpose of her intrusion?"
The stranger sounded sure and confident. Only someone in a high or higher ranking position could talk to an Alpha that way.
"I'm the one that decides whether or not she's a criminal. She wandered off here, who knows maybe it's because she was banished. Are you forgetting where we came from?" He asked, his voice filled with rage.
I smiled at his empathy. In my past life, I was thought to be a spineless worthless wolf and now I was a criminal.
If only he knew that his subordinate was right and I…no, the owner of this body was truly dangerous.
He wouldn't be so pleased to discover that.
"But, she was found when we were searching for the assassin who was after your life. Tell me, what are the odds?" The Alpha's companion asked, certain.
"If you failed in your duty, then it has nothing to do with anyone else. Or would you say everyone who is found from this moment would be the assassin?" He replied sternly.
"Of course not my Alpha. I trust your judgement. I'll still be on the lookout for the assassin. Nothing can happen to you,"
I sighed and sat up. Next to my bed was a huge mirror. I stared at my reflection, unable to believe what I was seeing.
I ran my fingers through my obsidian black hair with streaks of silver in them. I was much taller now, my petite innocent frame, soft blue eyes and pale skin was gone.
Instead it was replaced with a stronger build; years of training and fierce amber eyes.
My former companion walked into the room with measured steps and stared at me. He was ridiculously tall with a lot of muscles unlike Damon. It made me wonder what his wolf would look like.
Damon….that bastard!
I blinked, surprised at my own thoughts. I used to hold him in high regards earlier, and would literally worship the ground he walked on.
Well not any more, I felt the pain and hurt from that night again and I clenched my fist.
They'd pay, every single one of them.
I might as well get used to…. Ivy's body. It was a relief we both shared almost similar names.
He stared for a while, his head slightly angled to the left like he was trying to get something out of me with his gaze.
"Maybe, he is right." He remarked and my eyes widened.
Even though I was the assassin. I was still at the start of my journey. I couldn't die now.
This wasn't a time to be suspected.
“ Who is right”? I asked in a disinterested voice.
“Yaklov. I don't know what or who you are but I'll need answers”.
“Clearly…
He held up his hand, “ You're still bandaged up and frail as you can see”.
I stared at the mirror and touched my side, where I had been hit.
“ I'll get my answers when you're very much healed. Till then try to come up with some good story”.
I rolled my eyes and he walked out briskly from my room, closing the door behind him.
At least he showed me some respect
I just needed a little time to heal, understand Ivy's purpose and stand in this life and make the Western pack pay for their crimes.

A woman who identified herself as my nurse came in to see me. She changed the bandages and gave me some pills and a bitter concoction to drink.
“There, drink it all up”.
She packed up her box and stood to leave when I held her by the hand making her pause.
"When can I get discharged?" I managed to speak slowly. My voice was still a little hoarse.
"Discharged? You just woke up. How can you be discharged so soon?" She asked with an incredulous look on her face.
Clearly I seemed mad. I coughed lightly and looked ahead.
"But, he wouldn't be willing to let me stay longer." I said and she paused, staring at me for a while before she sighed.
"You mean the man who came just now?"
"He would. He's just not a fan of making people feel important but trust me, he would."
I raised a brow as she headed to the door.
"Can you help me convince him to let me stay at least for the night?" I pleaded.
She smiled with a small nod.
"I would not be done administering your medications until night-time anyway so why not." She replied.
I took a deep sigh and stared at the white ceiling above me.
“ Besides, I'm not too worried. You and Raphus would make a perfect match”, She added with a grin.
I turned to look at her and she smiled at me.
“ Just remember that sometimes who we portray isn't what we really are”.
She left the room , closing the door gently behind her.
I pursed my lips as I stared into space.
When would I get the chance to leave this place and start my journey for revenge?
******************
I stirred as I heard a sudden sound like the window being snapped shut. My body was still weak but my mind was alert.
I opened my eyes quickly, struggling to get my entire body system to wake up.
Then I noticed a sudden movement in the corner of my room.
On instinct, my fingers curled around the knife I had in my food bowl. I had used it to peel my apples earlier.
The shadow approached me and I held the knife tighter. It came into view and standing there, face illuminated by the moonlight that filtered into my room with a sardonic smirk on her face, was someone dangerous and who I'd been trying to get away from.
