Chapter 49 Nicole's POV I made it back early enough to take a nap for a few hours. I was nervous about the necklace. No one needs to know about it, not even the people in this cabin. I'm hoping what she said is true - that no one will see the necklace once she sends it back. It will be here on my dresser waiting for me to see it. It's weird but okay. Laying down in bed, I set the alarm for 5:30. It's already two in the afternoon, so I can get a few hours of sleep and I will be alright. I didn't even bother to cover up; it was so hot in here. I need to remember to buy a fan to stay cool. I drifted off to sleep, dreaming a weird dream. I was in wolf form running with the pack. I don't know what the running was about. But soon, we all stopped, and there it was - a huge black wolf with golden eyes. I knew it wasn't the King or Alpha Jasper. Who was it? I've never seen this wolf before, but I knew he was an Alpha. He started coming near to me, then he touched his muzzle to my neck. I felt the sparks of the mate bond. Oh, heck no. Why is this happening? He wasn't supposed to know I was his mate. No, no, no, no. I didn't want it this way. I wanted to fall in love the human way. I wanted to get to know him, sit and talk for hours on the porch, go on dates, maybe even walk on the beach and watch the stars, listen to the waves. I wanted to do so much more. Then, he suddenly howled loudly and turned away from me. No, don't go, please don't go. He didn't turn around to look at me; he walked into the woods, then he was gone. Luckily, the alarm started going off. I shot out of bed, not knowing where I was at first. Cutting off the alarm, I went to take another shower. I didn't know what that dream was about. I hope it doesn't happen that way. I don't need to meet him right now when I don't have that necklace; I really need it. Getting out of the shower, I got dressed in black leggings and a sports bra. This time I dressed cooler than I did this morning, putting my hair in a ponytail, then slipped on my slip-ons. I went to the kitchen to fix myself a turkey sandwich with wheat bread - that is my favorite. Plus, it's good for you as well, low on salt and fat. After I ate, I checked the time. Good, I have an hour. I didn't know what to do for an hour, so I just went outside to warm up. I ran a few laps. I made sure this time I had a bottle of water. I didn't know how long training is, but I wanted to be warmed up for it. I noticed another girl came out. She was warming up at the other end, then came up to me. "The name is Caby. I thought I was the only one who came out to warm up," I let out a chuckle, then said," "I'm Nicole. I thought I would come out here and warm up. I also brought a few bottles of water if you want one." She nodded and said thanks. Before we knew it, it was time for training. I noticed that there weren't many people who came out. What did I miss when I went out yesterday? This is weird. Polly and Rebecca came out; it was Rebecca's turn to do the training today, and boy, did she go at it. "Alright guys, listen up. As you can see, most of you are not here. Only a few are left. By the end of the month, only a few will remain. But we will always give another chance in six months. Let's get to training. This is the second round of training. What I want you to do is complete eighty laps. Come on, line up, and I want to see those legs moving. Remember, if you need a breather, fast walk. If you stop, you will have to do the laps all over again. Alright, let's do this. Let's go." So we were at it again. I noticed that after the sixty laps, Caby started slowing down, so I slowed down with her. I wanted to help her through this. We are a team; that's what Polly had said. So we are going to work as a team. When the laps were finally done, we walked over to the bench where the water was. We gulped a bottle down, then walked back over to the team. "Alright, I want to see eighty squats, leg lifts, push-ups, sit-ups, and move those legs and arms. Let's do this." We all did what we were told to do. Once done, Rebecca spoke to us again. "Okay people, I know Polly had said three days of warm-ups, but tomorrow will be the last day of warm-ups. Of course, you will warm up, but then the training will begin. We will show you how to throw a punch and block it, how to kick and block it, even throat punches and headbutts. We will equip you with everything you need to know and more. So this is a heads up: right now, you all need to go out and have fun tonight, do whatever you want to do. Because for the rest of the month, you will not be allowed out of the pack territory. If we catch you out besides going to school or work, you will be kicked out of training. You must put all your attention on training. So make sure you go out, have fun, do whatever you all do, because that will be the last night until training is over. Alright, warm-ups are done for today. Remember to go out and have fun tonight." We all left, everyone was hurrying to get back to the cabin to get ready to go out tonight. As for me, I don't like going out; it means trouble. I went out a few years back; I and a friend went out to a club. We were there for a few hours when rogues attacked. I killed a few rogues before being dragged out of the club by my friend. We sped home to tell the king. By the time they got there, the rogues were gone, and hundreds of people were dead. We never found the rogues who did it, and I never went back out. Going back to the cabin, I noticed again that Caby was slowly walking toward it. I caught up to her asking if she was going out tonight. “No, I don't like going out to clubs and stuff. I like watching movies or playing video games.” My eyes lit up; watching movies and playing video games sounds like a good time to me. “Well, I have some DVDs that I brought from home with my DVD player. Let's get cleaned up, and you can meet me back in my room. I will pop some popcorn, and you can pick out anything you want to watch.” “Sounds good to me; I'll meet you back here in an hour.” I watched her leave to head to her room. I went to mine to find the player and the DVDs. I hurried to shower, dry off, and then got dressed in shorts and my hoodie. I just wanted to feel comfortable. I got the DVDs and the player, hooked it up, and then waited for Cady. Something caught my attention. I turned and saw my necklace. Oh, it's back! Thank you so much. I hurried to put it on as if I'd been wearing it all along. I looked at the green ruby; it was shiny like something was inside of it. I hooked it around my neck, making sure I wore it at all times.
