Chapter 41
Creek's POV:
I knew we needed to get to the kingdom today. The king and queen want to meet the new mated couple. I'm hoping all goes well. I didn't get to shower yet; I was in the woods hunting down a rabbit. I'm giving her a rabbit today. She can do as she pleases with it. She just needs to accept it. This is the second part of courting her, and I hope she will like my gift. I ran to the woods this morning; the little boogers are hiding everywhere. I finally saw a glimpse of one, and I ran after it. I didn't want to kill it; that would be up to Rice. The thing had me running back and forth, jumping over logs, and almost made me fall on my face. I was about to say forget it; the snot-nose thing could hide all it wanted to, but I knew I needed to catch it. I stood still on my four paws and didn't make a move until they started to come out again. Once one was close enough, I needed to make sure it was perfect. When it got close, I pounced. I caught it with my mouth; the thing was wiggling so much that I thought it was going to scratch my eyes out. But it finally stopped; the thing wore itself out. I was on my way back home with it when I heard Rice's mindlink.
Where are you? I thought we could eat breakfast together.”
"I chuckled in my head. I wasn't doing that because she wanted to know where I was at; I did it because it made me happy that she wanted to eat breakfast with me." I linked her back, saying,
"I will be there shortly. I have something for you. Please be out front so I can give it to you. I hope you will accept it." She didn't answer back. I bet she was wondering what I had for her. She didn't know the courting had started already. First, I told her about her mother, and now I'm giving her a gift that I hope she will take in her hands. Hopefully, she wasn't scared of rabbits. When I walked onto our land, I saw many pack members walking about. They stopped to look at me, wondering what I was doing. Couldn’t they tell I was courting my mate? I had messed up big time, and I'm trying to make it up to her. Of course, they didn't know that, but they will know that I'm courting her. I saw her at the bottom steps with my mother. All right, here I go. I hope she accepts it. If she doesn't, then I'm screwed.
Rice's POV:
I woke up this morning hoping I could have breakfast with Creek. I got up, showered, and got dressed. I knew he was already up and working in his office, so I went there to see if he was hungry. He might have already eaten, but we will see. His door was open, and I didn’t see him inside. I walked to the dining hall, but he wasn't there either. So, I decided to link to him to see what he was doing.
‘Where are you? I thought we could eat breakfast together, but you weren't in your office,” he told me he had something for me and he hopes I will accept it. s**t, what is he doing in the woods so early in the morning? Rogues could be out there. I knew he was a strong Cat, but damn, don't do that. I wasn't going to tell him that. I don't want him thinking I've already forgiven him. He said to give him ten days of courting, so that's what I was doing. I know I haven't forgiven him yet. My cat wants me to, but the way he talked to me that day and the way he had treated me, I just can't forgive him just like that. It would be too easy for him, and he would think he could do it anytime he wanted, and I would forgive him all the time. That's just not the case. I sighed as I started walking to the front door. Summer was just walking in the hallway when she saw me.
'Where are you going this time in the morning? Are you going to train before you eat something?’ I wanted to laugh, but I didn't, so I told her what Creek had said during our mindlink together.
‘He should be coming up soon, so I need to get out there,” she smiled wide at me, then she said, “Oh, so the ten-day courting is in effect now. Well, honey, let's get outside and see what he is doing. I know other pack members are probably out there wondering what’s going on, so let's go.” So we walked outside. I knew I'd only seen his cat a few times. I liked Blu better than I liked Creek at the moment. We were in the front yard when I saw his cat coming toward us with something in his mouth. What in the world is that thing he is carrying? I noticed that pack members were standing their spot watching to see what was going to happen. A few sneered; those were the females that liked him and wanted to be the Luna, hoping I would not accept his gift. But I don't even know what it was until he got up close. He linked me, telling me to hold out my hands and pleased not to let go. So I did what he asked me to do. He placed it in my hands, and I held it. I figured out it was a freaking cute rabbit. It was all white but with black tips on his ears. He was the cutest little thing, but I didn't know what to do with it. Creek looked up at me with his beautiful cat ears and asked me if I accepted the gift.
I nodded at him with a big smile on my face. I held the rabbit to my chest, petting it to calm it down and make it known that it is safe now. That’s when Summer asked me if I was going to cook it and eat it, or if I was going to keep it. What?
“I'm not going to kill this thing and then eat it; I'm going to keep it. It's beautiful.” Creek shifted back to his human form, then put on a pair of shorts. The girls were staring at him with drool coming out of their mouths. "Yeah, that’s right, he’s mine, bitches." But I'm not going to say that right now. He was smiling from ear to ear, then he held out his hand to me. Placing my hand in his, he then said, “Thank you for accepting my gift. I need a shower. I will meet you in the dining hall as soon as you put the rabbit away.” I laughed and said alright. I went up to my room, placing the rabbit in there. I didn't know where else to put it; I sure didn't trust anyone not to cook it. It was my gift, and it was adorable. I put the rabbit in the bedroom, hoping it wouldn't poop everywhere. I knew it was scared but with me, it would be safe. I was heading to the dining hall when I overheard a few of the wannabe lunas talking.
“I don't know why she's still here. He made it clear she was nothing but a breeder to him.”
“I know, right? If he wants a breeder, I can be his breeder. I could just picture him deep inside of me.”
“Girl, you don't have a chance with her still being here. We need to figure out how to get her out of this pack; she's an omega. She's weak. Our alpha deserves someone stronger than that bitch.” So they think I’m an omega, that I’m weak, I don't know how to fight. I think I need to show them what I can do out in the training ground. I won't put up with s**t like that.
