Laura's POV
It's been a long couple of days. I've been trying to control my powers; I've picked a couple of them up. I could move objects with my hands. I thought it was pretty cool, and I laughed when I scared a few guests. They thought the hotel was haunted. I was able to set a few things on fire, but I did that at the lake. I wanted to make sure I would be able to put them out if it got too bad. But I quickly learned to control it, and I learned I could tell if someone was being truthful. As for the future aspect, I have yet to have anything come to me. I knew, with time, it would, and I had to be ready for it.
I haven't seen Jasper for a few days, but he did call me and tell me he would be here today. I told him that I needed to talk to him about a few things. I didn't tell him what it was about, but here I was pacing back and forth, wondering how the hell I was going to tell him that I've known he has been my mate for over a week now. Even on our date, I knew, but I couldn't say anything. Now that I have my powers, I'm able to tell him everything. No matter what the higher-ups tried to do, we found our way back together again. After my training, I took a shower and dressed up. Now I'm pacing back and forth, nervous that he might be angry with me for hiding these things from him. Of course, he knew why I lost my memory, because I needed to find what I needed. But I hid the fact that I knew him for a while now. I know everyone; I've known them for some time now. I thought Rice would have taken the hint that I already knew her. I think she did, but she played along. She didn't look too happy with her mate at all. It felt like they were arguing about something. I felt like it was just a matter of time before she was going to blow up, and he wasn't going to like it. I heard a car pull up, and Lucy looked at me, smiling.
“Girl, just take a deep breath. It's going to be okay. I was there the other night when all he did was talk about you. Just think, you will be there with Mind and Hayes' ceremony.”
“I don't know, Lucy. I might have taken things too far. I should have told him, but I couldn't. But right now, my nerves are a wreck, and I'm trying to calm down. This might be the straw that broke the camel's back. I was in the lobby when he walked inside with sunflowers in his hand. He always brings me flowers just because he wants to, or he would say just because. He handed me the flowers. I put them in a vase that already had water in it, then I took his hand to sit him down.
“Listen, what I'm about to tell you might piss you off, but I need to tell you. I know you already knew I chose not to have my memory. I heard you that day when the workers came.” He was about to say something, but I held my hand up so he wouldn't say anything yet.
“Wait, just hear me out. Let me tell you everything, and then you can say whatever you need to say to me, and then we will go from there, okay?” I was so scared I had to take a deep breath, then I told him everything. When I overheard you that day, I got my memory back. I don’t know why they decided to give it back to me, but I got it back. I couldn't tell you because I wasn't allowed to. They were watching. But I learned something a few days ago. There's some psycho after me for my powers to see the future. What you don't know is the Moon Goddess and the higher-ups gave me all my powers to do so. I haven't gotten my last one yet, but I’ve been working on them. That night on our date, I wanted so much to tell you. I was even going to wear your mother's hair clip in my hair so you would figure it out. But the Moon Goddess told me not to. But I'm here with you, telling you what you’ve been wanting to hear. Even when I didn't remember you, I felt a strong connection to you. I wanted you near me at all times. I hope you forgive me for not telling you.” He didn't say anything for a few minutes; I think he was trying to calm down. Then he pulled me to him and laid one h3ll of a kiss on my lips; our tongues danced in each other's mouths. Goddess, I have missed this so much. It was he who pulled away first.
“I thought there was something different about you on our date. You were doing small things that I knew only you would do. When you sent me home that night, I sat in that car for hours. I made myself drive away from you. So, did you even shift and go for a run that night?”
‘Yes, I did with both my wolf and my cat. She loves to jump on the trees and hunt down deer or rabbits. My wolf loves the rabbits more. I know they both wanted to go to you, but they also knew what we had to do. They're both stronger now since I've shifted.”
“Listen, I'm not angry. Something inside me already knew. I just wish I was there when you shifted into your cat so I could have seen her. Take me to where they are building. How far along have they gotten? Did you send the paperwork to LeeAnn yet?”
"s**t, I've forgotten all about the paperwork ever since this all started. Damn it, let me get that done first, and then I will show you.” We walked to my office. I sat down and then started doing the paperwork for LeeAnn for the Hall for the mating ball thing. I also noted that I remember everything. She will be happy about that. I sent it by fax, she should be getting it soon. After it was done, we walked toward the kitchen area where everyone was working.
“Damn, they're almost done. They had to knock down another wall to do what they needed to do. The kitchen is bigger, for like five cooks, three stoves, a huge long prep table. They have a large sink so they could rinse off the food and vegetables. They have a long linking where they could hang their items up that they use for cutting and stirring. A large walk-in freezer and refrigerator to store other food like sour cream, potatoes, and so on. Three exhaust fans so it wouldn't get smoky in there. They have a place to store wine that they cook with. Everything was almost done. The wall just needed to be put up and painted. We walked toward the dining area, which wasn't too far away, just a few feet from the kitchen. It looked really nice with tables and chairs, and a piano in the corner so someone could play it if they wanted to.
“It should be done next week, then I can decorate it a little bit more.” I turned around, looking at him. I felt like I was home now since I didn’t hide the fact that I knew he was my mate now.
“So, who is the b***h that is after you, and when will she try to get my mate?”
