Chapter 21 Jasper POV Last night was rough. At first, I didn't know where I was. When I finally fell asleep, I ended up at the beach. I should have known that the moon goddess wanted to talk to me, for what? I don't know because I haven't gotten into any trouble, not like I was in my teens. I was looking out at the waves when I felt a hand gently lay on my shoulder. I felt comfortable, slowly turned around, and saw Selena, the moon goddess. I stood there looking at how beautiful she was. I have heard lots of stories about her, but I have never met her until now. “I bet you're wondering why you're here right now. Well, I have a lot to tell you, my son. So let's sit down and stay a bit. There's a lot to tell you.” I didn't know how long we stayed there, but she told me everything. She explained why Laura had stayed in a coma for three years. They allowed her to choose not to remember so she could gain her powers on her own. However, the higher-ups decided to let her regain her memory slowly. So do not rush into things. She might decide to run. We talked for a while, and then I was back. I felt a little upset that she had decided to forget about me. But I'm not the only one she's forgotten. She has forgotten everyone, not just me. When she came out of the bathroom, I wanted to tell her I knew, but instead, I rushed past her to the bathroom, shutting the door. Placing my hands on the bathroom sink, I made myself breathe and told myself not to say a word. This was her decision. After a few seconds, I did my business, washed my hands, brushed my teeth with a brush I found beside hers, and then got dressed. She showed me her office and told my Delta to follow me so we could get things done. We talked for a bit about the moon goddess and then started on the work. About an hour into it, we were almost done when she walked into her office. “Are y'all hungry yet? Or do you want to wait until you get the work done?” There was something about her. She was looking at me differently now. Did someone piss her off? Did she hear something she didn't like? Standing up from the chair I was sitting in, I put the papers into a folder and said, “We are all done. How about that breakfast you promised me?” I gave her a smile and then walked over to her. “So, what are we having for breakfast?” “I was thinking of blueberry pancakes with maple syrup with eggs on the side. What do you think?” Wait, what? Those are my favorites. Was she starting to remember things? I didn't want to get my hopes up. So I calmed down and then said, “Heck yeah! I love blueberry pancakes with maple syrup! You're a woman after my own heart. Shall we go?” She looked over at Paul and asked if he wanted to come eat as well. He nodded and said sure. I'll come. So we went to the other end of the hotel where the cooks were stationed right now. They fixed the breakfast, then we found a place to sit down to eat after our breakfast. I asked her, “So how is the building going? Did you tell them what you wanted?” “Yes, I did. They said they will have to knock down some walls, but that's okay because I own most of this land. The hotel will just get bigger, and I will just have to build more rooms. And I'm okay with that. Want to come and see what they have done so far?” Was she asking for my opinion? If she was, then I'm all for it. But it's up to her how she wants it. This is her project. We walked toward the kitchen first. What I saw was the builders expanding the kitchen more. They were mudding the drywall. One turned and asked her what color paint she wanted for the walls. “How about dark blue with white trim? I think that would look nice,” they nodded and then went back to work. “The head guy said after the wall was done, they will start building the prep table and other things that are needed. Let me show you the dining hall.” So we walked toward the dining hall, and again, they were putting mud on the drywall. They asked what color paint she wanted. Again, she said dark blue with white trimming. The place is looking good, a little messy right now, but other than that, it's looking good, and of course, it's going to look messy. People are sawing and building. “That reminds me, I need to phone the queen and ask her if she could hold the ball off for a few months. One of your builders told me it's going to take a couple of months to get everything together and built,” I was a little confused; the building never takes a few months. Now, if we were building houses and a pack house on land, it would take a few years, three at the most. Then I asked her, “Can you show me who you talked to? Because this build right here should only take about a few weeks. What is that guy up to?” “Yeah, I can show you. Follow me.” I was happy to follow her so I could watch her cute ass walking. Oh, how I would love to slap her ass while she walked, but I'd rather not be slapped around my face. We went back into the kitchen to find the man who said it would take a few months to get everything done. “It's that guy over there cutting wood; he told me it would take a few months to get everything done,” goddess that was Cowboy. Yes, that is his name. His parents named him Cowboy because he loved riding horses when he was a kid, and now he owns a few horses. “Honey, I don't know why he would say that to you. He's new to the workers' job. He thinks he's the boss and runs the show around here,” I called him over to us. “Hey Cowboy, come over here. I want to have a talk with you.” He looked scared; he better be because what he said was wrong. He wasn't even the head of the builders. He walked over, bowing his head; he knew he was in trouble. “Yes, Alpha, did I do anything wrong?” “Well, I should say so. Why did you tell my mate that it's going to take a few months to get her kitchen and dining room done when it only takes a few weeks? And who says you are the top builder around here because you're not? I've told you I do not tolerate liars or people that try to challenge my authority.” “I'm sorry, Alpha, but she's just a woman that owns a huge hotel. Isn't she paying you for the building?” I shook my head no. Then I said, “That woman is my mate, your luna. You jackass. And if she wasn't my mate, you still should not lie to anyone, even if it's about the building or if they are paying or not paying. You're new; I will give you a second chance. But do not try to lead when you are not the lead of the builders. It's Kevin, who is the lead builder. And where is he?” “Well, sir, he's with his wife. She had twins two days ago and asked me if I could help out and lead the builders. But if I had known that it's going to be this hard, I would have never agreed to this. But I'm here now, and I'm doing the job. I sure hope she recovers soon because this job is a pain in my ass.” I wanted to laugh, but I didn't. I actually felt sorry for the poor guy. “Just make sure you do the job okay and make sure it's done right.” I took Laura's hand and led her away from there. I was starting to get hungry for lunch, and I wanted to take her out on a date. I think today is the day for that. I turned to look at her with a huge smile on my face. “Would you like to go on a date with me? I asked my Delta to get some clothes for me, he should be back soon. But if you want to get ready while I wait, that would be nice. No rush. The reservations are at eight, so there is no need to rush.” “I would love to go on a date. Let me go get a shower and get ready. Give me a few hours, okay,” damn, that was a quick answer. Wait, was that a smile on her face? She didn't even look worried one bit. Is she hiding something that I should know about? Is she okay? Well, I told her we would take our time to get to know each other. I promised her I would not rush into things or rush her. I hope she believed me.
