Chapter 14
Jasper's POV
I had so much work to do: papers that needed to be signed, phone calls to be made, and emails to be looked at. So last night, that's what I had done. It was three in the morning when I got done with everything. I decided I would shower in the morning when I got up. I was exhausted when I finally got up this morning. I could have used a few more hours of sleep, but I wanted to go see Laura. She said she had a few interviews this morning, and then she would be free to give us a tour. I planned to bring her favorite flowers, but then she might not have remembered that. Maybe I should bring lilies instead of sunflowers? Nah, I'll bring the sunflowers. I hope she still likes them. I got up, showered, dried off, and then got dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. I put on my tennis shoes. I decided to do a man bun and just clip my beard a little so it wouldn't be so long. I was done. I walked out the door, almost bumping right into My Gamma.
"Hayes, why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be with my sister right now?"
"Man, I just need to make sure you're okay with this. I've been putting off claiming her because I didn't want to offend you. I love her, man. I can't stay away from her any longer. But I promise you, I will take care of her and love her with all my heart, and I will never hurt her." Was he for real? I was happy that he was my sister's mate. I'd rather have him than some jerkoff as her mate. I started laughing, then said,
"Man, you're good. Don't worry about it. I'm not even mad. I've been wondering when you were going to tell me. I've noticed for a while that you two kept making eyes at each other, or those side touches with your hands when you thought I wasn't looking. I'm cool with it, I promise. So, is she ready, or do we need to wake her up? What about Berk? I contacted Xander and LeeAnn last night; they said they would be here in the morning. So, we need to head outside by now. We need to get out there so we can head to the hotel. If all goes well, she will start remembering things." We were coming out the door when Xander and LeeAnn drove up. They parked and got out of the car.
“Just remember she won't know who you are. She doesn't even remember us,” LeeAnn hugged me and then said,
“Don't worry, we won't scare her. All she knows is that we are all friends wanting a tour of her hotel and we want to set up a mating ball for all the unmated. But the truth is the ball will be for her and you. So, are we ready to head out, or are we waiting on anyone else?” Mila came hurrying out.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry, I was looking for something that Laura gave me when we became close. She gave me this bracelet, and I'm hoping she would remember,” she got into the car with Hayes and a few warriors who were dressed casually. Berk, Xander, and Laura got in the other car with me, and we took off out of the pack grounds toward the hotel. I was nervous. I hope she didn't forget that we were coming today.
Laura POV
I almost slept through my damn alarm again. I need to figure out how to turn the sound up on my phone so I could hear it better. I hurried to take a shower. I knew the guys would be here later today, so I wanted to get these interviews done before they showed up. Lucy was going to help with the interviews. She wanted people to know how to use a computer and not screw up, so she wouldn't have to go back and fix what they messed up. After my shower, I put on jeans and a button-up white shirt. I did my hair in curls. I don’t know why I did that when I usually wear it in a ponytail, but I did look cute in curls. I put on light makeup—some eyeliner, eyeshadow, and a little lip gloss. I put on my knee-high boots, and I was ready. I am dressed to impress. I was the boss so I needed to look my best. Am I correct or what? Hurrying downstairs, I grabbed an apple, then went to the lobby to wait for the interviews to start. Lucy was already behind the desk. When she saw me, she looked over by the door. There were like fifty people out there waiting to be interviewed. Well, that's more people than I thought would come.
“Are you ready, girl? it looks like there are fifty people out there. That's enough for a few hours unless more show up. Let's get this party started, shall we?”
“Yeah, I’m ready. I hope these girls know what they're doing. They only get one chance behind this counter; if they screw up, that's it. I think I taught my friend well; I feel we are best friends.” Walking over to the door, unlocking it, I walked out there and then said,
“Listen everyone, please come inside and wait your turn to be interviewed. The interviews will last for four hours. After that, we will decide which one of you we would like to work for us, so please line up and come inside.” Standing to the side, I let everyone inside. They had folders in their hands; my guess is they want us to look at their work history. I'm glad I brought some chairs down here last night. I didn’t know how many to bring, so I brought a lot of them. They're just folding chairs, but at least they have a chair to sit down on. Alright, well, let the interviews begin. Lucy took ten girls to interview; I took ten women. I was looking for a cleanup crew to get the rooms cleaned up. It took an hour to interview them; they needed a job. I told them they would start out at $15 an hour, and after sixty days, it would go up to $17. Then, after a year, it would go up again. I like these girls; they seemed friendly. I decided I would give them a call after next week, just in case. I was going to hire ten more just in case. The next crew I wanted to hire were waitresses. I wanted to turn the breakfast area into a restaurant; people shouldn't have to come in here to make their own breakfast or lunch. After a while, I felt like there were a lot more people in this room. I hired waitresses, people to tend to the back and front of the hotel, people for the shifter nursery and for the human nursery. The guys I hired as cooks; a couple of waiters; some even knew electrical work, so I hired them. After five hours of interviews, we were finally done. I was so glad no one else came into the lobby for an interview. I was tired of sitting down; my butt started to go numb. I got up to move around; my legs and feet fell asleep, and I felt like they were heavy. So, I had to walk around.
Lucy was feeling the same effects as me. We both were laughing at each other. I almost forgot that the guys were coming because I was heading up to my room to rest for a bit. Then, I was going to look at blueprints to do the kitchen. We already had stoves, deep freezers, and walk-in freezers. We needed a prep table, a window for the orders to go, and we needed to keep the vegetables and meat apart. There's so much to do. Then, I needed to get it inspected before we opened it. I was heading up to my room when the front door of the lobby chimed. Who in the hell could that be? It better be someone who just wants a room to rent for the night or two because I'm exhausted. Turning around to ask if I could help, I stopped when I saw them walk inside, and I saw what was in his hands – he had sunflowers. How did he know I liked sunflowers? Wait, did I like sunflowers? Well, if he was truly my mate, then he would know.
