waking up 4

Chapter 4 Doctor Steven's POV I was sitting in my office looking at Luna Laura's paperwork. I just do not understand why she is taking so long to wake up. She should have woken up by now. I had a visit from Selena last night. She came into my dreams and told me she would be waking up tonight, that I needed to help her. I asked her what help she needed from me. She explained what was going on with Laura and that it was up to her to get her out of here. If anyone finds out I helped her, I will be in deep trouble. Selena said that tonight, when the clouds cover the moon, Laura will wake up. This is bad, very bad for me. I could lose my license. This better be worth it. Putting the paperwork into her file, I placed it aside and got up from my seat. Checking the time, we had five hours before the sun started to go down. I needed to be ready. Jasper POV Before I left, I went to see Laura again. I made sure I left a flower on her pillow, then I said to her, “I'll be back, okay? My sister will be here with you. Don't be scared, everything will be okay.” Kissing her forehead, I turned and left before I changed my mind about not going. I got into my car with my Beta, Berk, who would be with me, and Gamma, Hayes, with a couple of my guards. We sped off, with Hayes driving. He knew the faster we got there, the faster we could get back so I could be with my mate. Hayes has yet to find his mate; neither has Berk. Maybe when we get there, they will find them, who knows? But right now, all I want to do is get there, talk about the treaties, read over them, and if I like what I read, then I'll sign them. After that, I will haul ass back to my pack so I can be by Laura. I still felt off about leaving her, like I was leaving part of my heart there. I know I did. She is lying on a bed in the pack hospital. “We will be there in a few hours, Jasper. Just try to sit back and relax. I know you're trying to stay calm being away from the Luna, but like Mila said, she will call you if there is any change,” Hayes said. “Yeah, I know. I just feel that something is off. Maybe it's just my nerves or something, but let's just get there and get this over with,” I replied. Even my leopard was pacing back and forth. He hasn't said anything yet, but I have a feeling that whatever is bothering him, he will let me know when he figures it out. Laura's POV I started stirring. I knew I was lying on something really hard, and I could hear things beeping—the noise was starting to get on my nerves. Slowly opening my eyes, I wondered where I was, why I was in a hospital, and how long I had been there. I noticed I had an IV in my arm. I carefully removed it to avoid hurting myself—a little blood came out. Sitting up, I looked around and didn't see or hear anyone. This was my chance to escape. There were wires hooked to my chest that led to a heart machine. What the hell was this about, and what happened to me? Unhooking the wires, the machine started beeping. I bet they're going to come running any second now. I decided to change out of the gown and found a pair of sweatpants and a shirt in a cabinet. Hastily putting them on and discarding the gown, my legs felt like Jello. I knew I needed to escape without being caught. I peeked outside the room to see if I could find anyone. Not spotting anyone, I dashed down the hallway and out the front doors. It was dark outside. I turned my attention to the woods. Alright, here we go—I needed to get out of here. Perhaps my family was worried about me. As I ran toward the woods, the sounds of animals and snapping tree branches were eerie. It was a little chilly. I didn't know how far I had gotten when the alarms started blaring. They were so loud I had to cover my ears. The noise was excruciating, making me scream in pain. The alarms were shut off, and I heard paws thundering on the ground. They were coming after me. I had to run as fast as I could. They were going to kill me if they caught me. I sprinted away, hitting the pavement, feeling tired and sore. Continuing on, I saw a few cars pass by but none stopped. Didn't they realize a young lady walking alone might need help? It was dark with no street lights—very scary. I was terrified. Then, a car slowed down, and a female voice called out from the vehicle. "My child, why are you out here by yourself? There are no street lights for miles. Are you lost, honey?" s**t, I didn't even know where I was at, but I didn't tell her that. "Honey, get in the car. I won't bite. I'll take you to a hotel so you can call your family to come get you." Do I have any family at all? I'm not even sure if I do, but she did sound nice, so I got into the car hoping she wouldn't kill me. I didn't have any money for a hotel either. No ID; I didn't have anything on me. I'm not even sure what I was going to do for food. "Ma'am, I thank you for the ride, but I can't get a hotel. I don't have ID or any money. I can't even give you gas money. So, if you just want to pull over on the side of the road, I can get out and walk." Goodness, child. I'm not letting you out here by yourself. A child like you could get hurt. I'll tell you what, I'll loan you the money to get a room. If we ever meet up again, you can just pay me back. I won't take no for an answer. It looks like you could use a shower and something to eat. Listen, we're almost there. Nothing bad is going to happen to you, so don’t worry, okay?” I felt like I could trust this woman. I sat back to relax, before I knew it, she was pulling into a parking lot. ‘Well, here is your stop,' she handed me an envelope. 'This should help you for at least a few days. Go get a room and shower, and get something to eat. I'm sure one day we will meet again.” I didn't look inside the envelope. I told her thank you, then got out of the car. I walked away, heading to the door to the lobby. When I turned back to wave, she was gone. That is so weird. Sighing, I walked into the large lobby. There was a large wide desk with a woman behind it. The badge she was wearing said her name was Lucy. I smiled when I walked up to her. She looked up from the computer, smiling. I stopped when she started talking. “Miss Laura, it's so nice to see you again. Did you lose your key? I can get you one right here, but don't tell anyone I gave it to you for free, okay? It's supposed to cost fifty dollars to replace a key.” Wait, what? I had a room here; this is so crazy. She did some kind of computer stuff, then handed me the key. It was Room 201 upstairs on the fourth floor. Now, why in the hell did I get a room on the fourth floor? Forget it, I didn't even ask. I told the lady thank you, then I took the elevator to the fourth floor. I hope there was something in there to help me get my memory back. She called me Laura, so that's my name. This whole night was just messed up. All I wanted was a shower and then to relax.
