Chapter 8

Sarah’s POV

I was working in the kitchen with two other maids. We are arranging the groceries right now.

The meeting of Alphas has ended some time ago and now they are eating their lunch in the dinning room. Well it is quite late for lunch.

Just as Grayson has told me, he didn’t come.

I was still scared when clock had hit two. But after some time, all of my fear started disappearing slowly when he didn’t come. Now I am completely relieved.

“Sarah” I heard Grayson calling my name from behind.

I turned around to see him standing near the door.

A big smile appeared on my face as I walked towards him.

“Hmm, do you need anything?” I asked.

“No, I heard what Becky did to you. Just wanted to check on you. Are you okay?” He asked me.

“Hmm I am fine” I replied. He nodded his head.

Becky is daughter of Beta Jordan. She is very beautiful, strong, intelligent and confident. Almost a perfect role model for every woman.

But She is very arrogant. She looks down on other people who are lower in rank than her. She even bullies others just for fun.

And no one says anything to her.

After all her father is the beta of Alpha Zander, her brother was the Beta of Alpha Aiden. she was quite close with Alpha as well.

That is why she gets away with whatever she does. Her parents fulfill all of her wishes and almost all the men in our pack are dying to be with her.

She hates me since the moment I entered in this pack.

The reason, I heard that she liked Grayson a lot. At first I thought it was just a rumor but then I realized she indeed likes him.

She doesn’t leave even a single opportunity to embarrass me and tell me how undeserving I am to be with someone like Grayson.

At first her actions used to hurt me but now I have gotten quite used to it.

Grayson doesn’t like her and he even threatened her to stop messing with me.

But she just doesn’t listen.

Today she ordered me to bring some snacks and orange juice in her room for her and her friends.

I did it.

But the princess didn’t like the juice and splashed it on my face saying it is too sweet.

Sometimes I get the strong urge to slap her and give her a piece of my mind but I refrain myself.

Because I know it will end up very badly. I don’t mind if it will affect only me but I know Chase, current Beta of pack will take it out on Grayson as well.

Chase had punched Gray when he had threatened Becky, for me.

And I don’t want anything like this to happen again. That is why I silently walked out of her room, with orange juice dripping from my face and hairs.

I don’t know how Gray found out, but I am sure he will definitely do something about it.

I came out of my thoughts when he shook me slightly while calling my name,

“Are you really okay Sarah?”

“I am. Don’t worry” I said with a reassuring smile.

He nodded after staring at me for a while, searching for any traces of lie.

“I am sorry” he said.

“Don’t be, it’s not your fault” I said genuinely. He sighed.

“I am just right outside, in the dinning room. If something happens, mind link me, okay?” he said to me. For some reason he looks worried to me.

I wanted to ask what happened but refrained myself and just nodded my head while saying, “ I will”.

He smiled at me before leaving.

“He loves you so much” Lana commented with a wink.

A blush tainted my cheeks as I shook my head at her words.

I am aware that Grayson really cares a lot about me but love, it is out of the question.

There is no way that he loves me.

“Shut up Lana” I said when she again teased me and began arranging the vegetables in the refrigerator.

After around half an hour, I was laughing at a joke, Bella has said. She is my other friend who is also working with me and Lana in the kitchen.

She was telling us a funny story about her childhood and I was enjoying it a lot.

When suddenly a maid barged in the kitchen.

“what happened Claire?” Bella asked her with a raised brow

“Oh god Bells, he is so handsome. I felt my heart fluttering the moment my gaze fell on that gorgeous man.” she said as she began preparing a cup of coffee.

“Who?” Lana asked with curiosity.

Even Bella is looking curious to know who is this handsome man.

“The Alpha of Red moon pack” the moment she uttered these words my hand, which was about to place a container of salt on the shelf, stopped in the middle.

My body froze for a second and heart began thumping loudly in my ribcage.

“What… what did you… say, who?” I asked turning around to face Claire praying desperately that I heard her wrong.

That, it is not him.

But my prayers went to deaf ears. My heart dropped and breath got stuck in the back of my throat. My legs gave in and I fell on the floor when she uttered her next words,

“Alpha Mason from Red moon pack”.

“Oh.. god Sarah, are you okay?” Lana was beside me the moment I fell on the floor.

“Why are you looking so pale? What happened?” Bella asked. Even Claire abandoned the coffee she was making and crouched in front of me.

Worry is the only thing I can see on their faces.

No words left from my mouth.

My body is shaking badly in fear. My mind is screaming only one word and that is, ‘Run’.

I want to oblige my mind’s command but it is as if my body has paralyzed. I can’t move at all.

All the memories of past began flashing in my head like a movie.

I saw Lana saying something but I couldn’t understand anything.

'His' voice is ringing in my ears.

'you are mine Sarah’

'you can never get away from me'

‘even if you hide yourself, I will find you and then I will punish you in a way, you will regret ever trying to run away from me'

Breathing became difficult for me as I felt sweat buds forming on my forehead.

I can’t get a panic attack now.

I have to run and hide.

I tried to take deep breaths but it was difficult. My heart beat is also rising.

I placed both of my shivering hands on my ears to stop his voice but it became louder.

Tears pooled into my eyes.

But then everything stopped.

'His' dangerous voice stopped echoing in my ears and was replaced by a gentle voice which said calmly,

“Calm down, you are fine”

For some reason I believed his words. His voice was deep and heavy but it was soothing to my ears.

I felt a gentle touch on my hands which were covering my ears. And then I realized he was removing my hands from my ears.

My heart beat quickened thinking I will again start hearing 'his' voice.

But instead the strangers deep voice commanded me gently, “take a deep breath and try to relax”.

My mind obeyed his words and I took few deep breaths.

My eyes were still close but I realized I was getting better.

My breathing got normal and heart also began beating at normal pace.

But the fear was still inside me, spreading in each part of my body.

I need to hurry up and hide somewhere.

I opened my eyes and my blurry vision was locked with the familiar forest green ones.

He is the same man I had bumped into few hours ago in the living room.

Once again I found myself drowning in the depth of his orbs staring at me with concern.

“Are you okay Sarah?” I heard Lana asked.

Before I could open my mouth to say anything, Grayson's concerned voice called my name.

I looked towards the door to find him walking towards me with worry written all over his face.

“You okay?” he asked crouching beside me.

A lone tear rolled down from my eyes and hurt flashed into his eyes.

Without waiting for my answer he picked me up in his arms bridal style.

“Tell Martha she is not well” he said to Lana and began heading towards the door in the kitchen which leads to backyard.

Before coming out of the kitchen my gaze again locked with green orbs, looking at me with an emotion in his eyes, I couldn’t decipher.

But my mind was desperately praying for only one thing,

‘please moon goddess don't let Mason finds me’
